Taraba Youth Leaders, Entertainment Stakeholders Launch Campaign Against Cyberbullying

Jalingo, Taraba State – July 3, 2026

Youth leaders and key stakeholders in Taraba State's entertainment industry have jointly resolved to intensify efforts to combat cyberbullying and other harmful online behaviours, particularly the circulation of leaked private videos and the use of abusive or derogatory comments against fellow youths, especially young women.

The resolution was reached during a strategic meeting with the Executive Chairman of the Taraba State Youth Development Agency, Comr. Prince Gara Soyonga Nongha, who urged young people to embrace responsible social media engagement and become ambassadors of respect, unity, and positive digital citizenship.

Addressing participants, Nongha emphasized that social media should be used as a platform for education, innovation, and constructive engagement rather than harassment, humiliation, and character assassination. He called on youths across the state to support one another and uphold the dignity of every individual.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Taraba State Scholarship Board, Hon. Bashir Yakubu, cautioned young people against behaviours that could negatively affect their future prospects. He noted that responsible conduct and good character remain key considerations for beneficiaries of scholarships and other youth development programmes.

In their separate remarks, the Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Taraba State Chapter, Comr. Hapson Haruna, and the President of the Taraba State Entertainment Industry (TSEI), Uloko Timothy Emmanuel (MC NETWORK), pledged to sensitize members of their respective organizations on the dangers of cyberbullying and other forms of online misconduct.

They reaffirmed their commitment to promoting unity, mutual respect, and positive values among young people while encouraging members to become role models both online and offline.

The stakeholders collectively stressed that protecting the dignity of every young person and fostering a culture of mutual support are critical to building a more peaceful, progressive, and inclusive Taraba State.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment by youth leaders and entertainment stakeholders to work collaboratively in promoting responsible online behaviour and creating a safer digital environment for all.

BREAKING: A fire outbreak on Friday affected parts of the Taraba State Government Guest House opposite FGGC, Jalingo, following an electrical surge.

The fire was quickly contained by the Federal Fire Service and the Taraba State Fire Service, preventing it from spreading to other apartments. No lives were lost, while properties worth about ₦200 million were saved.

ENOUGH of empty promises – ASUU Taraba State University chapter tells Gov. Agbu Kefas.

Another strike is looming at Taraba State University Jalingo.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Taraba State University chapter has declared that it is done with empty promises and has again issued a final warning to the Taraba State Government over the failure to implement agreements reached after the last strike.

Will the government act before another industrial action shuts down the university again?
