*IMMACULATE CONCEPTION NOVENA*

*DAY 3*

We begin in the Name of The Father and of The Son and of The Holy Spiti. Amen

*Act of Contrition...*

*REFLECTIONS......*
The word of God comes to us everyday, just as It came to Mary even with a message that seems to be a contradiction to her vow to remain a Virgin all Her life. But it wasn't to be so.

This word presents itself to us in the scriptures, through our life experiences, in difficult and pleasant life situations, as well as when life is tough and when it is easy.

He (God) chooses when best to come to us. We are to embrace the word of God and live it out.

Jesus is this word that took flesh to dwell amongst us.

We are expected to welcome Him just as Mary did so that He will dwell amongst us and change us, redeem us and bring us at last into His heavenly kingdom.

*INTENTIONS FOR DAY 3* .....
Today, let us pray for those who refuse to accept God's word especially when it opposes their personal and selfish ways.

May they see the contradiction the word of God brings to their sinful ways as a call to repentance and for those who only accept easy ways as the only way God talks to them to also see tough circumstances as other ways through which God can teach us.

*LET US PRAY*
O most pure Virgin Mary conceived without sin, from the very first instant, you were entirely immaculate. O glorious Mary full of grace, you are the mother of my God – the Queen of Angels and of men. I humbly venerate you as the chosen mother of my Savior, Jesus Christ.

The Prince of Peace and the Lord of Lords chose you for the singular grace and honor of being His beloved mother. By the power of His Cross, He preserved you from all sin. Therefore, by His power and love, I have hope and bold confidence in your prayers for my holiness and salvation.

I pray that your prayers will bring me to imitate your holiness and submission to Jesus and the Divine Will.

Hail Mary, full of Grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.

Now, Queen of Heaven, I beg you to beg my Savior to grant me these requests…

( *Mention your intentions* )

My holy Mother, I know that you were obedient to the will of God. In making this petition, I know that God’s will is more perfect than mine. So, grant that I may receive God’s grace with humility like you.

As my final request, I ask that you pray for me to increase in faith in our risen Lord; I ask that you pray for me to increase in hope in our risen Lord; I ask that you pray for me to increase in love for the risen Jesus!

Hail Mary, full of Grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

*O Mary Conceived without sin, Pray for us who have recourse to thee.*

_The Lord be with you ..._

And May the Almighty God bless you, The Father,➕and The Son and The Holy Spirit. Amen

Peace be with You

*DAY 2*

We begin in the Name of The Father and of The Son and of The Holy Spirit. Amen

*Act of Contrition...*

*REFLECTIONS......*
The Blessed Virgin Mary was endowed by God with several gifts, Spiritual and otherwise.

The Privilege of Immaculate Conception which made her the mother of God made her the only creature of God with such privilege, no other.

Above all, she remained humble, hidden without anyone recognising such a great woman in their midst. She wasn't arrogant or proud.

God regarded such Humility of His handmaid and made all generations to call her Blessed.

*INTENTIONS FOR DAY 2* .....
Today we pray for those endowed with some spiritual or material gifts, talents etc and could not imitate the humility of Mary our mother by remaining humble, instead display negative attitudes of arrogance and pride as if it is by their power.

May the feast of Immaculate Conception obtain for them the grace of humility to realise that every good gifts come from God and to be humbly used to expand His kingdom on earth not forgetting He raises the humble and pulls down the proud.

Today we ask and pray for the grace to be humble always with all our spiritual and material gifts

*MARANATHA ...COME LORD JESUS*

*ADVENT... YEAR A*

By 6pm, yesterday's evening the Church began the season of Advent for the new calendar year in the Church's arrangement of Her Calendar.

It is proper for any Christian expecially Catholics to Greet each other today with the salutation...."Happy New Year"

We shall begin the Year A for Sundays and Year II for weekdays.

What is Advent?
Simply as an English word, it means the "coming" .

Advent is a season observed in the Catholic Church as a time of "expectant waiting" and preparation for the celebration of the Nativity of Jesus at Christmas as well as the return of Jesus at the second coming.

The term is a version of the Latin word meaning "coming".

It is divided into two major parts:

The first part begins from first Sunday of Advent till the 16th of December. This first period should be followed prayerfully and in a more penitential way.

No Christmas Carol is expected this period rather it is more of a penitential period where by the faithful, constantly praying, experience some inner conversion as they prepare to receive the saviour of the world

The second part begins from 17th December to the 25th of December. During this part, the mood changes as the coming of the Messiah is close.

We read antiphons like..The Lord is at hand.

*THE ADVENT CANDLES*
The first candle is lit this first Sunday this week.

The second candle would be lit the second week

The third candle is lit the 3rd week

The 4 Advent candles is lit the fourth week.

one for each week of Advent till the 4th week

*Each of the candles signifies Hope, Peace, Love and Joy.*

*Why is 1 pink and 3 purple?*
A tradition is that each week represents 1,000 years – (representing) the 4,000 years from Adam and Eve until the birth of the Savior. “Three candles are purple and one is rose. The purple candles symbolize the prayer, penance and preparatory sacrifices and good works undertaken at this time.

*Advent Wreath*
Today marks the first Sunday of Advent and Mass began with the lighting of the first candle signifying Hope.

Advent wreaths are a favorite way to celebrate the month of December leading up to Christmas Day. The Advent candles readily demonstrate the strong contrast between darkness and light. In the Bible, Christ is referred to as the “Light of the World” contrasted with the darkness of sin. Human history spanned long ages before our prophesied Savior would finally make his appearance, and God’s promise to make all things new through him.

As his Advent, or “coming,” draws nearer another candle is lit, with each candle dispelling the darkness a little more. Thus, the Advent wreath helps us to spiritually contemplate the great drama of salvation history that surrounds the birth of God Incarnate who comes to redeem the human race.

SHAPE: The circular shape of the wreath, without beginning or end, symbolizes God’s complete and unending love for us—a love that sent his Son into the world to redeem us from the curse of sin. It also represents eternal life which becomes ours through faith in Jesus Christ.

NUMBER: The Advent Wreath traditionally holds four candles which are lit, one at a time, on each of the four Sundays of the Advent season. Each candle represents 1,000 years. Added together, the four candles symbolize the 4,000 years that humanity waited for the world’s Savior—from Adam and Eve to Jesus, whose birth was foretold in the Old Testament.

COLOUR: Violet is a liturgical color that is used to signify a time of prayer, penance, and sacrifice and is used during Advent and Lent. Advent, also called “little Lent,” is the season where we spiritually wait in our “darkness” with hopeful expectation for our promised redemption, just as the whole world did before Christ’s birth, and just as the whole world does now as we eagerly await his promised return.

During the first two weeks of Advent we light the first two purple candles. The Third Sunday of Advent is called Gaudete (Rejoice) Sunday. On this day we celebrate that our waiting for the birth of Jesus on Christmas day is almost over. Rose is a liturgical color that is used to signify joy, so we light the single pink candle on the third Sunday of Advent.

Then on the fourth Sunday of Advent, the final purple candle is lit to mark the final week of prayer and penance as we wait expectantly for the soon-coming birth of the King of Kings.

Traditionally, each of the four Advent candles have a deeper meaning which is depicted in the lovely Four Weeks of Advent Pewter Wreath:

The 1st Sunday of Advent symbolizes Hope with the “Prophet’s Candle” reminding us that Jesus is coming.

The 2nd Sunday of Advent symbolizes Faith with the “Bethlehem Candle” reminding us of Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem.

The 3rd Sunday of Advent symbolizes Joy with the “Shepherd’s Candle” reminding us of the Joy the world experienced at the coming birth of Jesus.

The 4th Sunday of Advent symbolizes Peace with the “Angel’s Candle” reminding us of the message of the angels: “Peace on Earth, Good Will Toward Men.”

Let us follow the season as they are being presented to us by the Church and ask the Lord to fill us with the graces of the season.

As we enter the season of Advent, may we experience the power of Christ's Salvation in those areas of our lives that need liberation and deliverance through Christ our Lord who came to set us free. Amen

Family

*DAY 1*

We begin in the Name of The Father and of The Son and of The Holy Spiti. Amen

*Act of Contrition...*

*REFLECTIONS......*
The Feast of the Immaculate Conception is an important day for us to reflect on the Blessed Virgin Mary's life. Her life is the ideal example of the Christian life lived for God.

The Immaculate Conception means she was conceived in the womb of her mother St Ann without sin (Both original and actual sin)

She was free from sin by God's power because of the role she was to perform which is to give birth Christ who is God Himself.

Each of us came into this world with original sin but received sanctifying grace at baptism which restored us to the dignified state of purity of body and soul before we contaminate ourselves with actual sin

*INTENTIONS FOR 1st DAY* .....
Today we pray for all of us especially those who have allowed the damaging effect of mortal sin to take them away from the mission that brought them into this world.

Through the intercession of Mary Immaculate, may they be brought back into the fold by the graces of repentance and be restored, filled with God's graces again to renew their lives and commitment in God.

O most Holy Virgin, who was pleasing to the Lord and became His mother, immaculate in body and spirit, in faith and in love, look kindly on me as I implore your powerful intercession. O most Holy Mother, who by your blessed Immaculate Conception, from the first moment of your conception did crush the head of the enemy, receive our prayers as we implore you to present at the throne of God the favor we now request.

(State your personal intention here.)

O Mary of the Immaculate Conception, Mother of Christ, you had influence with your Divine Son while upon this earth; you have the same influence now in Heaven. Pray for us and obtain for us from Him the granting of my petition if it be the Divine Will.

Amen

O Mary Conceived without sin, Pray for us who have recourse to thee.*

_The Lord be with you ..._

And May the Almighty God bless you, The Father,➕and The Son and The Holy Spirit. Amen

_Peace be with You_

*NOVENA TO ST JUDE*
( _Helper in Desperate and Hopeless cases_)

*DAY 4*

We begin in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

*ACT OF CONTRITION*
O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins, because I dread the loss of heaven, and the pains of hell; but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, Who are all good and
deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy grace, to confess my sins, to do penance, and to amend my life.
Amen.

*REFLECTIONS*
_From the Epistle of St Jude. 1:5_
Now I desire to remind you, though you were once for all fully informed, that he who saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe.

St Jude reminds us here not to take the justice of God for granted even as we always rely on His Mercy. Same God who shows mercy also punishes.

We should think about salvation which came through such string suffering.

*INTENTIONS*
Today we Pray and ask the intercession of St Jude for financial breakthrough for individuals and families unable to meet up with their financial responsibilities.

We pray for those searching for job to be able to get their means of livelihood

We pray for those waiting for their long overdue promotions

We pray for all whose rights and privileges are being denied by those who claim to be more powerful and connected

We pray for those who unjustly lost their jobs to be able to find another one

We pray for the gift of knowledge and understanding for all students especially those preparing and writing exams at the moment

We pray for all youth who are almost getting frustrated as a result of certain harsh policies of most Governments. May they never be despaired.

May God intervene in all your situations through the intercession of St. Jude. Amen

*LET US PRAY*
O most holy apostle, Saint Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the Church honour and invoke thee universally, as the patron of hopeless cases,
and of things almost despaired of.

Pray for me, who am so miserable. Make use, I implore thee, of that particular
privilege accorded to thee, to bring visible and speedy help where help was almost
despaired of.

Come to my assistance in this great need, that I may receive
the consolation and succor of Heaven in all my necessities, tribulations, and sufferings, particularly ( *HERE MAKE YOUR REQUEST* ) and that I may praise God with thee and all the elect throughout eternity.

I promise thee, O blessed Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favour, to always honour thee as my special and powerful patron, and to gratefully
encourage devotion to thee.

Amen.

The Lord be with you....R

May the Almighty God Bless you the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen

*Peace be with you*
