*LENTEN SEASON IS HERE AGAIN*

_A Lent of Renewal and Total transformation_

The Period of Lent is one of those grace-filled periods in the Catholic Church and every practicing Catholic is expected to avail himself or herself of all the necessary means of acquiring these graces ( Conversion, Prayer, Alms-giving and Fasting) for Spiritual renewal and transformation.

As our tradition in Aheartopenedforall demands, we shall take a 40 day Lenten Journey through *Psalm 51* and conclude with the Stations of the Cross.

A verse of the Psalm for each day which would be prayerfully done.

*May God renew each of us for His greater glory.*

It is a Blessed day as we celebrate the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. We continue to ask Mary our Mother to help us with those graces that will enable us to remain steadfast in prayers and penance and to attain to the glory of eternal bliss when our life here on Earth is over.

May St Bernadette of Lourdes obtain miraculous healing for all the sick and help the disable to carry their Cross with a joyful heart. Amen

May the Blessings that God gives at the end of every NOVENA come down upon you, in the name of the Father and of the Son ➕ and of the Holy Spirit. Amen

*REFLECTION*
Every home needs Peace for a healthy living. The Father as the head should be initiator of this Peace.

Every husband needs to understand her wife and help her to grow especially in her weaknesses

1 Peter 3:7: “In the same way, you husbands must give honor to your wives. Treat your wife with understanding as you live together. She may be weaker than you are, but she is your equal partner in God's gift of new life. Treat her as you should so your prayers will not be hindered."

*INTENTIONS*

Today we pray for all husbands all father's in every home, especially those who lack understanding and therefore preventing Peace from reigning in their homes.

May God help them to understand their roles as head and Father so that the peace that should flow through them would not be hindered or hampered by their lack of understanding

Many children today are being trained and groomed in hostile and satanic ways/environment apart from the Godly ones. War, terror, evil are majorly what they see in most of the environment in which they grow up and these eventually affect how they see things.

*INTENTIONS*
Today we pray for all children who are being trained and grown up in hostile environments; (families and societies) satanic environments; (families and societies).

May they never lack the Divine guidance of God to direct their hearts in the right way to live even when families and the society fail them. May they see in the Church the means and source of grace and light for their spiritual growth.

*REFLECTION* Jesus, Mary and Joseph lived perfectly as the model every family should imitate. In difficult times, want and need even when life presented them with the most difficult moments, they remained in God's love which sailed them through.

Today we pray for all couples especially those experiencing difficulties which is almost tearing them apart. ( *We remember in a special way couples from 15years old in marriage downwards* )

*REFLECTION*
_Healing of Henri Busquet from tuberculosis_

Truly inspirational in nature and a testament of the young man’s faith, Henri Busquet was only 16 years old at the time of his cure. Suffering for over a year with a fever attributed to the onset of tuberculosis, Busquet subsequently developed a neck abscess that his doctor eventually lanced, but his condition only worsened.

He begged his parents for a trip to Lourdes, but they refused to take him. Persistent in his faith, he turned to a neighbor and requested some healing water from Lourdes be brought to him. Once they returned to him with the vial of holy water, Busquet’s family gathered to pray together as his dressings were applied, which were soaked in water. After sleeping that night, he awoke to discover that his ulcer had scarred over and his infection was gone! The miracle was approved in 1862.

Today we pray for all patients suffering from tuberculosis. We connect them with the healing Busquet received, asking our Lady of Lourdes to Bless them especially to those who could not access medications, may they experience the miraculous cure of our Lady of Lourdes.

*REFLECTION*
*Reflecting About Louis Bouriette case*

The most often quoted miracle related to Lourdes happened to Louis Bouriette, a gentleman of 55 years of age in 1858.

Rendered blind in his right eye from a mine explosion (which killed his brother, who was at his side), Bouriette claimed that he immediately went to pray to “Our Lady of the Grotto” as soon as Bernadette scratched the soil at the dumping ground. He washed his right eye repeatedly in a very short amount of time, praying to Our Lady fervently for a cure. After washing, his vision returned completely, and in 1862 the cure was deemed “of supernatural character.”

*OUR LADY OF LOURDES NOVENA*

*DAY ONE*

*REFLECTIONS*
Today we look at the first miracle that took place in LOURDES

The first documented miracle at Lourdes occurred in 1858 when Catherine Latapie felt a sudden urge to travel to Lourdes in search of healing.

Two years prior, she had fallen from a tree and severely injured her right hand. The accident left two of her fingers entirely paralyzed.

Latapie met Bernadette at the grotto and very simply washed her hand in the small spring that had formed. Instantaneously, the paralysis of her fingers was gone, and she could move them just as she could before her accident.

*From Mark 2:2-5*
“Some men came, bringing to him a paralytic carried by four of them. Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus and, after digging through it, lowered the mat the paralyzed man was lying on. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, ‘Son, your, sins are forgiven.’” (Mark 2: 2-5)

Paralyzed men and women lying on mats hoping to be carried from one spot to the next are no longer common sights in our society today; however, what is common are souls paralyzed in *fear* , *sin* , *sickness* , *addictions* , *hopelessness* , *in utter despair,* in the *cruelty that others have imposed on them,* souls so paralyzed that they are incapable of living the lives for which they were created.

Carrying a paralyzed person was not easy then, and carrying one now even if it be in the form of prayer is not easy, and yet that is the call.

We are called to carry those who can’t walk. And if we genuinely carry someone, concentrating on no one else but that person, we will feel much of what weighs that person down, and in doing so, we share in that person’s sufferings, and thus prayer becomes more than something to check of on our list of achievements for the day.

If we do not experience a certain type of exhaustion for having interceded for a suffering soul, we might not have participated in genuine prayer at all.

Unless we have felt some of the weight of the sorrow and burden that paralyzes the soul whom we are carrying before the throne of God, it might be that we have prayed a prayer that relieves us of some guilt but nothing more.

*TODAY'S INTENTIONS*
Let us pray and comit into the miraculous hands of our Blessed Mother Mary, all those suffering from paralysis either partial or total paralysis, physical or Spiritual paralysis.

May the same healing she granted Mrs. Catherine Latapie in restoring her paralyzed fingers be extended to all the paralysed I body and soul whom we are praying for today during this Novena.

Our Lady of Lourdes Prayer for healing

O ever-Immaculate Virgin, Mother of Mercy,

health of the sick, refuge of sinners,

comforter of the afflicted,

you know my wants, my troubles, my sufferings;

look with mercy on me and those I am praying for.

By appearing in the Grotto of Lourdes,

you were pleased to make it a privileged sanctuary, where you dispense your favours;
and already many sufferers have obtained
the cure of their infirmities, both spiritual and corporal.

I come, therefore, with complete confidence to implore your maternal intercession. Obtain, O loving Mother, the grant of my requests.

Let us pray again for our various needs relying on the miraculous powers of our Lady of Lourdes.

_Reflections_
Lourdes has become a place of pilgrimage and healing, but even more of faith. Church authorities have recognized over 60 miraculous cures, although there have probably been many more.

To people of faith this is not surprising. It is a continuation of Jesus’ healing miracles now performed at the intercession of His mother.

Some would say that the greater miracles are hidden. Many who visit Lourdes return home with renewed faith and a readiness to serve God in their needy brothers and sisters.

We may not be in Lourdes physically at the time of this Novena, but everything is possible through God who granted the miracles that take place there. We can be rest assured that our petitions would be received by our Lady.

There still may be people who doubt the apparitions of Lourdes. Perhaps the best that can be said to them are the words that introduce the film The Song of Bernadette: “For those who believe in God, no explanation is necessary. For those who do not believe, no explanation is possible.”

Don't miss this opportunity of prayers once again.
