EXALTATION OF THE CROSS NOVENA*
_Day two_
_In the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit Amen_
*Act of Contrition*
*Reflection*
Today we reflect and pray with the words of Jesus in Luke Gospel.
Luke. 9:23
Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.
*Mark the following statements*
Whoever wants to be his disciple
Deny themselves
Take up the crosses on daily basis & follow him
*NOW WE ASK, WHAT ARE THESE CROSSES?*
_The Crosses appear in the following ways_
In the context of Christianity, "daily crosses" refer to the challenges, struggles, and difficulties we face in our daily lives. These can be:
*PERSONAL STRUGGLES* : struggling over addictions, temptations, fears, doubts, and weaknesses.
*RELATIONSHIP ISSUES* : Conflicts, misunderstandings, and difficulties with family, friends, and colleagues.
*HEALTH PROBLEMS* : Illnesses, chronic conditions, and physical limitations.
*FINANCIAL STRUGGLES* : Debt, unemployment, and financial insecurity.
*EMOTIONAL BURDENS* : Grief, anxiety, depression, and mental health concerns.
*SPIRITUAL CHALLENGES* : Doubts, questions, and struggles with faith.
*DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES* : Work, household chores, and caregiving duties.
*SOCIAL PRESSURES* : Societal expectations, peer pressure, and cultural norms.
*MORAL TEMPTATIONS* : Opportunities to compromise values and principles.
*UNEXPECTED EVENTS* : Accidents, natural disasters, and unexpected losses.
What does it mean Carrying our daily.
Embracing our struggles
Seeking God's guidance and strength
Practicing self-denial and humility
Finding meaning and purpose in our struggles
Trusting in God's plan and providence
Seeking support from others
Growing in resilience and perseverance
Finding opportunities for spiritual growth
Learning to surrender and let go
Discovering God's presence and comfort in our struggles
Remember, our daily crosses are opportunities for spiritual growth, refinement, and deeper trust in God. Don't run away from your Cross, don't deny or despise them, as a true disciple unite them with that of Christ and they will bear fruit.
*LET US PRAY*
Heavenly Father, uncover my eyes and reveal any obstacles keeping me from thinking as you do. Give me the courage to overcome these obstacles, and grant me the strength to take up my cross and follow you, even in the face of difficulty. I ask this through your Son, Christ our Lord.
Holy Cross of Jesus Christ... Be my strength and comfort.
