BREAKING: Senate Reopens Review of BGL Crisis
The Senate Committee on Capital Market and Institutions has reopened discussions on the long-running crisis involving BGL Group during a session held at the National Assembly in Abuja.
The meeting, chaired by Senator Osita Izunaso, brought together the Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and representatives connected with the firm to review concerns raised by investors over funds tied to the company.
Lawmakers said the engagement was necessary to strengthen investor protection and improve regulatory oversight in Nigeria’s capital market. They emphasized that trust, transparency, and accountability remain key to maintaining confidence in the financial system.
The SEC Director-General briefed the committee on steps taken so far, while BGL representatives explained efforts being made to resolve outstanding issues.
The Senate committee reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring stronger safeguards for investors and preventing similar cases in the future.

Reuben Mark Leads the Fight to Bring Justice to Every Nigerian
ABUJA, March 4, 2026 – Yesterday, Reuben Mark, a respected legal practitioner and civil society advocate, took center stage at the National Assembly to push for the NHRC Reform Bill.
Mark spoke passionately about the challenges Nigerians face in accessing justice, especially those living far from urban centres.
“This physical distance creates a barrier that effectively denies many citizens their fundamental human rights,” he said.
The proposed bill aims to:
Expand NHRC offices to reach rural and underserved communities
Educate citizens about their rights and reporting channels
Ensure transparency and accountability in handling human rights violations
For Mark and other advocates, the message is clear: justice shouldn’t depend on where you live. Every Nigerian deserves equal access to their rights.

HEADLINE: “THE INFRASTRUCTURE BLUEPRINT: SENATE DRAWS THE LINE ON REGIONAL FUNDING”

LET’S FLIX STUDIOS | POWER. POLICY. PROGRESS.

On February 13, 2026, the Senate Committee on Regional Development convened a high-stakes session that could redefine how regional infrastructure projects are funded and monitored across Nigeria.
Inside the chamber, lawmakers examined the 2026 Appropriation framework for the Regional Development Commissions — with a sharp focus on transparency, ex*****on, and accountability.

What Was at Stake?

• Stricter scrutiny of budget allocations
• Zero tolerance for abandoned projects
• Mandatory digital mapping before fund disbursement
• Protection of development timelines ahead of the 2027 elections
• Alignment with House Appropriations funding caps
This was more than a committee meeting.

It was a signal — that oversight is tightening and performance will be measured.
