The plate number that is lettered in BLUE indicates a private owned vehicle.

While the RED lettered plate number indicates a vehicle used for commercial purpose.

Then the GREEN lettered plate number shows that the vehicle is government owned and is used by government officials.

Lastly, the BLACK lettered plate numbers are for members of the Armed Forces, that is, the Military/Paramilitary etc

Kano Anti-Graft Agency Discovers Facility Where federal Government 28 trucks of Rice Relief Supplies Are Rebagging.

The operation, which occurred at a warehouse in the Hotoro Western Bye-pass, was conducted under the leadership of the commission’s chairman, Barrister Muhuyi Magaji.

During a press briefing regarding the recent discovery, Magaji disclosed that approximately 28 trucks filled with rice palliatives, which were allocated by the Federal Government, are believed to have been diverted for the purpose of repackaging and selling in the open market.

He said, “We have uncovered a serious case of mismanagement and diversion of public goods. These palliatives were meant for the poor and vulnerable, but unfortunately, some individuals are trying to profit from the suffering of the people.

“The commission will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that those responsible for this act of corruption are brought to justice. We are also working to recover the palliatives and ensure their proper distribution to the intended beneficiaries.

“This is shameful and heartless. People are struggling, and yet some individuals are stealing from the poor. We commend the anti-graft agency for taking swift action.”

Supreme Court bars FG from paying allocations to LGs with unelected officials
supreme court
July 11, 2024

The Supreme Court has held that it is illegal for Governors to dissolve democratically elected Local Governments.

It orders the Federal Government to henceforth withhold allocations to Local Governments governed by unelected officials appointed by the Governor.

The apex court also barred the Federal Government from further paying LG allocations through the State Governments since the practice has been abused by Governors, who retain the funds and utilise them as they please to the detriment of the LGAd for which the monies are meant.

The pronouncements were made in the ongoing judgment of the Supreme Court in the LG autonomy suit filed by the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Lateef Fagbemi SAN on behalf is the Fed Govt.

Governors have killed local government system - Senate

Let's give them a round of applause.

But wait.

Who are the Senators?

I know Lagos, Ekiti, Ondo, Oyo, Kogi states have not produced an ex governor as a Senator. There may be a few more states but they will certainly be very few.

In many states, the moment an individual completes two term as governor, he moves to the Senate and I know Bukola Saraki, Orji Uzor Kalu, Theordore Orji, Adamu Aleiro, Abdullahi Adamu, Ibikunle Amosun, Gbenga Daniel, Sam Egwu, Adams Oshiomole, Abdulaziz Yari, Aminu Tambuwal, Ahmed Makarfi, Ibrahim Shekarau, Gabriel Suswan, Godwill Akpabio etcetera.

These are men majority of whom did not see why local government councils should be free from their grip when they were in charge in their various states. They selected every local government chairman by themselves and for themselves.

Most of them give to LGAs in their states allocation as they deemed fit but federal government can't do same to them.

All chairmen were answerable to them but they are not answerable to the president.

They didn't have to perform as governors to win all local council elections any time they decide to conduct it.

They could dissolve local government administration at will especially if they are taking over from an opposing party.

Any LGA chairman that dares to raise a question will be removed by the state house of assembly which the governors have made an extension of their offices in the various states.

These governors don't see what is wrong in their authoritarian rule and absolute power until they leave and move to the senate or became political analysts and then see that they played a major role in killing the local government councils which is the closest to the people and which should bring development to the grassroot.

Governors in office presently will not want to allow this reform (because they also want absolute power) until they leave too and get to the senate and they will also chorus: Governors Are Killing Local Government Councils.

A governor collects money from the state,

He changes it to dollars.

And pays it to a school in Abuja

Almost 900,000 dollars was transferred to the school

After the school deducts all the money for all his children in the school to their last days in their Final years, there is an excess of 760,000 dollars

The school keeps the money so that if he man produces more children in future he can send them to the school

But an American school should be able to sniff money laundering from a mile

Yet the school keeps quiet

Until EFCC starts probing and digging

Here the school is begging EFCC to provide an account into which it can return Bello's money

Ododo who calls himself an accountant says Kogi's money is not missing

That's expected

A puppet cannot think for itself

That's why Kogi would have been a little better with just an Olodo

How Yahaya Bello Declined EFCC’s Invitation for Interrogation- Olukoyede

The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr Ola Olukoyede has disclosed that he made personal efforts to invite a former governor of Kogi State, Mr. Yahaya Adoza Bello to respond to investigations regarding his alleged involvement in money laundering to the tune of N80,246,470,089.88( Eighty Billion, Two Hundred and Forty Six Million, Four Hundred and Seventy Thousand and Eighty Nine Naira, Eighty Eight Kobo).
Olukoyede stated this in Abuja on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 while addressing media executives at the Corporate Headquarters of the EFCC. According to him, he had a telephone conversation with Bello offering him ample opportunities to present himself for interrogation by investigators of the EFCC.

“On my honour, I put a call to him to honour him as a former governor. He said, I can’t come, claiming that a certain lady has surrounded the EFCC with over 100 Journalists to embarrass or intimidate him and all that stuff. I said if that is your fear, I will make you come directly to my floor. I will invite my operatives to interrogate you in my own office. What could be more honourable than that? Do you know what he said? ‘ Can’t they come to my village?’ My Director of Investigations also sent a message to him”, he said.

The EFCC’s boss said he was worried at the report of larceny available to the EFCC concerning the former governor. “A sitting governor, because he knew he was going, he moved money directly from the government’s account to a bureau de change to pay his children’s school fees in advance, $7,200 , in anticipation that he was going to leave government house”, he said.

Olukoyede also disclosed that the EFCC, in its bid to ensure the safety and stability of the foreign exchange market, has uncovered a new fraudulent scheme called P to P, peer to peer trading scheme. The platform, according to him, is operating outside the official banking and financial corridors ,with more than 300 (three hundred) accounts linked to it already frozen by the EFCC. He reaffirmed the commitment of the Commission to the economic growth and development of the country, promising that the EFCC would not relent in the exercise of its mandate. He told the media executives that the Commission has recovered more than N120billion from fraudsters within six months and secured more than 1300 convictions.

He called on Nigerians to be more dedicated to the nation, insisting that patriotic Nigerians should offer more support to the EFCC because the Commission is crucial to the growth and development of Nigeria. ‘’If you support the EFCC, you are working for the growth of Nigeria. We all have stakes in the wellbeing of our nation”, he said.

Adelabu said, “Lastly, on distribution. Very soon you will see that tough decisions will be taken on the DisCos. They are the last lap of the sector. If they don’t perform, the entire sector is not performing.

” The entire ministry is not performing. We have put pressure on NERC, which is their regulator to make sure they raise the bar on regulation activities.

"If they have to withdraw licenses for non-performance, why not? If they have to change the board of management, why not?

“And all the DisCos that are still under AMCON and Banks, within the next three months, they must be sold to technical power operators with good reputations in utility management.

"We can no longer afford AMCON to run our DisCos. We can no longer afford the banks to run our DisCos. This is a technical industry and it must be run by technical experts.”

KENYAN POLICE ARREST FLEEING BINANCE EXECUTIVE WHO ESCAPED FROM NIGERIA

THE Kenya Police Service has arrested fleeing Binance executive, Nadeem Anjarwalla, as the International Criminal Police Organisation moves to extradite him to Nigeria within the week.

Government sources familiar with the case who spoke on condition of anonymity noted, “He has been arrested in Kenya, and he’ll be extradited to Nigeria this week.”

Anjarwalla, whose cover has now been blown, went into hiding immediately after he landed in Kenya.

Ola Olukoyede, had in the March edition of its bulletin titled, “EFCC Alert,” onfirmed that the commission was working in conjunction with the International Criminal Police Organisation.

Olukoyed said, “The takeover of the prosecution of Binance chiefs by the commission is no less a strong message in the direction of EFCC’s resolve to hedge in distortions and disruptions in the country’s forex market.

“Tax evasion, currency speculation, and money laundering to the tune of $35,400,000 are at the foundation of the Commission’s five counts against Binance Holdings Limited, Tigran Gambaryan and Nadeem Anjarwalla, the company’s chief executives.

UPDATE ON SOLDIERS ALLEGED OF THEFT AT DANGOTE REFINERY IN LAGOS

In line with Nigerian Army's (NA) commitment to upholding high standard of professionalism, integrity and discipline, the NA wishes to update the general public on the outcome of the investigation into the alleged theft of armoured cables at the Dangote Refinery premises on 14th April 2024, involving Corporal Innocent Joseph and Lance Corporal Jacob Gani.

Sequel to a thorough investigation conducted in collaboration with the management of the company, the two soldiers were found to have abandoned their duty post and to be in unauthorized possession of the materials. Subsequently, they were both charged for Failure to Perform Military Duties punishable under section 57, sub section (1) and Other Civil Offences punishable under section 114, sub section (1) of the Armed Forces Act CAP A20, the Law of the Federation of Nigeria 2004. They were summarily tried. During the trial, the evidence against them was presented and they were given the opportunity to present their cases and defend themselves, but were however found guilty of the charges levelled against them in accordance with military laws.

As a demonstration of NA's zero-tolerance for misconduct and criminality within its ranks, the two soldiers have been dismissed from the NA with immediate effect and handed over to relevant authorities for further prosecution.

This decisive action underscores the NA's resoluteness in maintaining its institutional integrity and reputation.

The NA reassures the general public of its dedication to upholding integrity, discipline and accountability at all levels. We remain resolute in our duty to protect and serve the nation with honor and dignity.

We urge the public to continue to support our efforts in safeguarding national security and promoting peace and stability across the nation.

Electricity transformers and substations meant for the $2.3bn Siemens power project have arrived in the country as the project gains traction, Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, said on Sunday.

The development came a few months after the Federal Government renewed the mega power project contract with the German government and Siemens, following several months of delays.

The minister in a statement on Sunday said the COVID-19 pandemic and the death of the late Chief of Staff to former President Muhammadu Buhari, Abba Kyari, hampered the implementation of a Memorandum of Understanding signed between Nigeria and Siemens to transform power transmission and distribution in the country.

According to Adelabu, Kyari, who died as a result of COVID complications, was the arrow head of the project, saying the project remained stalled until President Bola Tinubu came on board.

“In 2018, the Nigerian government signed a memorandum of understanding with the German government for the presidential power initiatives, also known as the Siemens contracts. The German government agreed to lend Nigeria $2.3bn and employ Siemens to transform Nigeria’s transmission and distribution sector.

“However, due to COVID-19, significant progress has yet to be made in implementing these projects. Unfortunately, the late Chief of Staff to the President, Malam Abba Kyari, the foremost champion of the project, passed away. After that, an election occurred, and a new government took over. Between 2018 and 2023, there were no significant developments concerning the agreements,” a statement made available to The PUNCH on Sunday by Adelabu’s media aide, Bolaji Tunji, quoted him as having said at a briefing on Friday.

According to Adelabu, the project was supposed to proceed in two phases, but the pilot phase only progressed significantly when the Tinubu government emerged.
