The Yoruba people hold their kings in the highest regard. Our reverence for traditional rulers is deep-rooted, and we do not take lightly any situation where they are poorly treated, whether it stems from a protocol error or sheer negligence. In the olden days, such an act could have easily sparked unrest or even war, because to dishonor a king was to dishonor the entire people. The guy that โorderedโ Alafin to moved for Esama, is he a foreigner or devil is bitting his head ?This is why I strongly suggest that all our major kings should have dedicated teams of intelligent, well-trained aides whose duty will be to double check protocols, manage appearances, and prevent embarrassing situations before they occur. A king is not just an individual in Yoruba land, they embodies the dignity, belief, tradition and heritage of an entire community and race.
