PARENTS PROTEST ON SUDDEN CLOSURE OF GIRLS MODEL SCHOOL, ILAWE-EKITI.

Why did Ekiti State Government have to close the school became our worry when the news first got to know of some of us that are sons and daughters of Ilawe-Ekiti home and abroad.

From the information gathered thereafter, most especially from the parents of the students, including Mr. Felix Ilori, Omolade Adeniyi and Mrs Fadairo, who spoke during a protest at Ministry of Education, Ado-Ekiti, that their children were sent home few hours after resumption on Monday on the account that the school had been handed over to Ilawe Community to kick start the newly approved Federal College of Education, Ilawe-Ekiti.

The parents who were weeping like babies, during the protest, were appealing to His Excellency Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to consider the effect of such action on the female students more importantly when the parents did not have a prior notice of the arrangements or any provisions put in place to take care of the students before sending them packing abruptly.

Although the building and all the facilities in the school belong to the Federal Government. Taking over the properties by Federal Government is not a problem but Ekiti State Government ought to have given prior notice or make alternate arrangements for the students.

We want to join the parents of the students to humbly appeal to our beloved Governor, His Excellency Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, not to close the school but provide a good alternative in Ilawe. The town has enough land that could accommodate the new building for the school if the Federal Government finally resolved to take over her properties to kickstart the newly approved Federal College of Education.

Like Ekiti of good origin would say, " oju orun t'eye fo la ri m'ora kan ra. Aye gba Kete rin l'Ulawe o."

We appreciate you all.

Long live Ilawe-Ekiti!!!
Long live Ekiti State!!!
Long live Federal Republic of Nigeria!!!

PDP NWC Reviews Decision on Ortom, Shema, Anyim, Others

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at its meeting today, Thursday, March 30, 2023 extensively discussed recent developments in the Party.

The NWC recognized the imperativeness of a total reconciliation among Party leaders and critical stakeholders for a more cohesive Party in the overall interest of our teeming members and Nigerians in general.

Consequent upon the above, the NWC reverses the referral of the Governor of Benue State, His Excellency, Dr. Samuel Ortom to the National Disciplinary Committee.

The NWC in the same vein reverses the suspension of the following underlisted members of our great Party:

1. H.E Ibrahim Shema (Katsina State)
2. Ayodele Fayose (Ekiti State)
3. Sen. Pius Anyim (Ebonyi State)
4. Prof. Dennis Ityavyar (Benue State)
5. Dr. Aslam Aliyu (Zamfara State)

This decision is without prejudice to the powers of the NWC to take necessary disciplinary action against any member of the Party at any time pursuant to the provisions of the Constitution of the PDP (as amended in 2017).

The NWC charges all leaders, critical stakeholders and teeming members of our Party across the country to be guided by the provisions of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017) as well as the new spirit and necessity of reconciliation, unity and harmony in our Party at this critical time.

The PDP must remain focused as we continue to take every necessary action to recover the stolen mandate freely given by Nigerians to our Party and Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar, on Saturday February 25, 2023, at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.

The Peoples Democratic (PDP) has appointed Umar Damagum as the acting National Chairman of the party.

“The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at an emergency meeting today, Tuesday, March 28, 2023, acknowledge the Order of the Benue State High Court, dated March 27, 2023, with regards to the Chairmanship position of our great Party,” the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Debo Ologunagba, said in a statement on Tuesday.

“After careful consideration of the Court Order and in line with Section 45 (2) of the Constitution of the PDP (as amended in 2017), the NWC resolved that the Deputy National Chairman (North) His Excellency, Amb. Umar Ililya Damagum assumes the National Chairmanship of our Party in an acting capacity with effect from today, Tuesday, March 28, 2023.”

He replaces Iyorchia Ayu who was suspended by his ward in Benue State for anti-party activities. The court thereafter restrained him from parading as the chairman of the party pending the determination of the substantive suit which has been adjourned to April 17, 2023, for a hearing.

A member of the party from Benue Terhide Utaan, who is the plaintiff before Justice W. I Kpochi, obtained the order stopping Ayu from parading himself as national chairman of the party.

The plaintiff after obtaining the court order told journalists that following Ayu’s suspension by his Igyorov Ward Exco, it was wrong for him to continue as the PDP chair. He argued that such a move will further cause chaos.

Before his suspension, there were calls for Ayu to leave the post. In the lead-up to the 2023 general elections – which the PDP lost to the ruling All Progressives Congress – a group of governors in the party called G5 repeatedly demanded his resignation from the position.

Led by Governor Nyesom Wike, the G5 argued that since the party’s presidential candidate for the election Atiku Abubakar is from northern Nigeria – Ayu – who is from the same region – should pave the way for a southerner to assume the office.

The G5 argued members, who worked against Atiku, hinged their decision on fairness and equity.

2023 Election: Ekiti SDP, PDP leaders unite over Atiku, promise to deliver

The chances of the Presidential candidate of the People's Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar received a boost as former PDP leaders who formed crux of the leadership of Social Democratic Party, SDP, on Monday joined their counterparts in the PDP to agree on the choice of the former Vice President as their consensus candidate in the February 25 presidential election.

Converging on the Atiku Presidential Campaign Office in the heart of the State Capital, Ado Ekiti, it was a home coming as the leaders relish old times even as the comraderie amongst the old folks came to bare.

Addressing the gathering, an elated Caretaker Committee Chairman of the Ekiti State PDP, Arc. Sadiq Obanoyen applauded the SDP leaders for coming back home and hearkening the voice of reason. He thanked the leaders for rallying round at this time to ensure Atiku rescues the long suffering Nigerian people from the quagmire the APC has put them, stressing that history will be on their side.

Speaking with newsmen on the sidelines of the meeting, the Director General of the Atiku Presidential Campaign (Ekiti Central Senatorial District), Chief Dipo Anisulowo said the gathering of the PDP and SDP chieftains is geared towards delivering the chunk of Ekiti votes for Atiku Abubakar in the coming election.

"You can see the crowd here present, incidentally, this is the Atiku PCC Office in Ekiti, it shows we are in for serious business. The SDP leaders you see here were former PDP leaders and they are here to discuss strategies that will ensure Atiku gets the maximum votes at the polls.

"Ekiti is a PDP State, we have let go of the past, we have put our differences behind us and we have resolved to work together to ensure Alhaji Atiku Abubakar emerge victorious on 25th February", Anisulowo said.

Amb. Dare Bejide, Hon. Kehinde Odebunmi, Prof. Kolapo Olusola, Hon. Deji Ogunsakin, Hon. Michael Ojo, members of Ekiti State PDP Caretaker Committee amongst other chieftains attended the meeting.

Earlier, Chief Bode Ajewole led chieftains of the People's Democratic Movement, PDM, in Ekiti State to the Atiku Abubakar Campaign Office in a courtesy visit and declared support for the former Vice President.

*Stop supporting the barbaric attitude of the double standard of the PDP chairman*

The purported suspension of our party Candidates by Ayu led NWC is inconsequential and clear disrespect for the laws of the party and that of the country," saying; "The lawlessness of the Senator Iyorchia Ayu led National Working Committee (NWC) will fail ultimately.
the Ayu-led NWC of the PDP lacked the powers to suspend let alone expel them from the party without due process.

In the face of the law, they remain candidates of the PDP and only death can change that.

"Section 33 of the Electoral Act, 2022, provides that a political party shall not be allowed to change or substitute its candidates whose name has been submitted under Section 29 of this Act, except in the case of death or withdrawal of a candidate.'

"The implication of the above is that the only instance where a validly nominated candidate whose name has been submitted to INEC by a party can be changed or substituted is when the candidate dies or withdraws from the race by Section 31 of the Electoral Act, 2022.

"Most importantly, as of last week Thursday, a court of competent jurisdiction already ordered that no further action should be taken by the party. Consequently, any action taken in contravention of the court order will not only be null and void but also contemptuous. We believe that Ayu and his gang know the implications of telling the court to go to hell.
Nigerian youths, pls be Guarded and don't allow your emotions to override the rule of law.
They all remain party flag bearers.

Party Affliction aside.
Be Enlightened.

Nigerians waiting for Atiku to deliver them from suffering – Sadiq Obanoyen

The Caretaker Chairman of Ekiti PDP, Arch. Sadiq Obanoyen, has declared that Nigerians are anxiously waiting for the Presidential Candidate of the party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to deliver them from the throes of suffering imposed on them by the APC administration.

Making the declaration while addressing the mediac in Ado Ekiti, Arch. Obanoyen said the APC has shown to all and sundry that it has no capacity to grapple with the myriad of problems it created for Nigerians.

He pointed out that the issue of unemployment has risen to 10 digits from 2019 to 2022 and that if a stop is not put to the trend, the situation will be horrendous in the next four years.

Placing Atiku head and shoulders above other candidates, the caretaker chairman said: "As at 2014, Atiku Abubakar had employed 50, 000 Nigerians and this development places him ahead of all his opponents. His companies are employment generation and not consumption companies like some others who are importers and who have been severally indicted.

“We believe that we have taken a stand that Atiku Abubakar is the best material for the exalted office because he has what it takes to salvage Nigeria from the mess it is presently in.

“We have a brand that is sellable, a product that is attractive and equipped with vast experience. His antecedents as a two term-Vice President of the country place him at a better stead.”

On the issue of the alleged phobia for Fulani leadership, Arch. Obanoyen who was flanked by other members of the caretaker committee, rejected that notion and reminded those holding such view that Alhaji Shehu Usman Shagari and Alhaji Umar Yar’Adua , both former Presidents, were Fulani and there was no Fulani problem during their tenures.

He urged all the electorate to support and vote for Atiku Abubakar, the candidate of PDP because there is no gainsaying the fact that he has the capacity for the economic advancement of the country and all the suffering will be a thing of the past when he becomes Nigeria’s President.

He also solicited their support for all PDP candidates in all the elections to set the country in the path of recovery.

Vote Atiku to end unemployment - Obanoyen

The Ekiti State Caretaker Chairman of the People's Democratic Party, PDP, Architect Sadiq Obanoyen has opined that the problems confronting Nigeria will be tackled head on by the presidential candidate of the party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar when voted into office on February 25.

He said the issues affecting the country could only be addressed by an experienced hand with mental, physical and political will to return Nigeria once again to the path of greatness.

Obanoyen made these assertions on Thursday in Ado - Ekiti during a Stakeholders' Meeting and signing of peace accord, organised by the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC).

The Caretaker Chairman stressed that the main opposition party is ready to deal with the issue of unemployment, adding that the major problem affecting the youths today is unemployment.

According to him, any responsible government in Nigeria must first look into the issue of unemployment.

He said, "When the youths are not gainfully employed, they become ready made tools in the hand of the devil and with unemployment at 33 percent under the current APC administration, little wonder why Nigeria has become the hotbed of insurgency, banditry, all sort of criminality as well as being the poverty capital of the world.

"You cannot begin to think about dealing with the issue of Boko Haram, kidnapping, robbery and other social vices without tackling unemployment".

Obanoyen noted that the presidential candidate of the party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar created over 50,000 jobs for Nigerians in 2014.

On his mission to reunite PDP members in Ekiti State, Obanoyen said the Caretaker Committee has met with every gladiator within the party in the state and promised a much more united party that is willing to flag its flags.

Commenting on the peace accord, the PDP caretaker chairman asserted that gladiators and all stakeholders who are involved in the electoral process must be on the same page, saying the electoral body meant well.

Stop further action on Ekiti NASS candidates, court ordered PDP NWC, Ayu, others

A High Court in Ado Ekiti has restrained the People's Democratic Party (PDP), its National Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, all members of the National Working Committee and the National Executive Council (NEC) of the party from taking any further action on the earlier suspended National Assembly candidates of the party in Ekiti State as well as State House of Assembly candidates of the party in the State

The court ordered the party to ‘maintain status quo’ following a motion filed by the NASS candidates.

The order was given after a hearing before Honourable Justice E.B Omotosho in Ado-Ekiti on February 2.

Recall that the PDP had on January 20 approved the suspension of the Ekiti State Executive Committee, alongside several party members in the state.

Following the party’s announcement, five suspended members—Ajijola Lateef Oladimeji, (Ekiti Central); Emiola Adenike Jennifer (Ekiti South II); Olayinka James Olalere, (Ekiti Central); Akerele Oluyinka (Ekiti North I); and Fayose Oluwajomiloju John (Ekiti Central I)— had on January 27 filed a motion against the PDP, party national chairman Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Names of the five members had prior to their suspension been submitted to INEC as candidates for the National Assembly elections holding February 25, 2023.

The applicants had prayed the court for an order of interim injunction restraining the PDP and the party chairman, Senator Ayu from substituting their names for the upcoming national and state assembly elections.

The motion read, “Upon the application filed on the 2nd February 2023, the claimants/applicants pray for the following: An order of interim injunction of this honourable court restraining the 1st and 2nd Defendants from substituting or changing the name of the claimants whose name have already been submitted to the 3″ Defendants as the is Defendants candidates for her National and State Assembly elections when the claimants have not withdrawn their candidature having regard to the provisions of Sections 3 of the Electoral Act 2022, as well as the provisions of the Constitution of the PDP as amended 2017 and its Guidelines pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice for interlocutory injunction before the Honourable Court.”

The claimants also prayed the court for an order of interim injunction restraining INEC from accepting or acting on any application from the PDP attempting to substitute the names of the candidates without a withdrawal of candidature by the suspended members.

The court, having listened to the applicant’s counsel, ordered that copies of the motion of notice filed by the claimants be served on the defendants.

“Upon the service of the aforesaid processes on the defendants, the parties, in this case, are hereby ordered to maintain status quo pending the hearing of the aforesaid Motion on notice,” the order read.
