Poultry farmers, don’t just vaccinate—vaccinate CORRECTLY! 🚨🐔
In this video, I demonstrate step-by-step how to properly constitute Lasota vaccine and explain why skimmed milk is added to the drinking water.
🥛 Why skimmed milk?
Skimmed milk helps protect the live vaccine virus from factors in the water—especially residual chlorine and other substances—that can reduce vaccine effectiveness. It also helps stabilize the vaccine during administration.
💉 When should Lasota be administered?
Lasota is commonly used against Newcastle disease, with timing depending on the farm's vaccination programme, local disease pressure and the vaccine manufacturer's instructions. In many poultry programmes, it is administered during the early weeks of life and repeated periodically for birds that remain in production.
⚠️ IMPORTANT: Use clean, cool, non-chlorinated water, prepare only what the birds can consume within the recommended period, and follow the vaccine manufacturer's instructions for dosage and administration.

Today, I carried out an inspection at Ernest Poultry Farm, where they are planning to take their poultry business to the next level by starting their own pullet breeding programme. 💪🏽
Instead of always depending on external sources for replacement pullets, producing their own birds can give them better control over genetics, flock quality, biosecurity and long-term production costs—when properly planned and managed.
As an Animal Scientist, my job is to carefully assess the farm, identify what needs to be put in place, and provide the right professional guidance before they begin. 👨🏽‍🔬🐔
