So yesterday evening, I was just strolling down my street 🌆 when I saw one mama by the roadside frying akara. 👩🏽‍🍳 The smoke dey rise, the oil dey bubble, and people dey rush her table. But something struck me — this woman was smiling so wide 😍 even though the heat was plenty and her wrapper don stain with palm oil.

I got curious 🤔 so I asked her, “Mama, why you always dey smile like this?” And her reply almost shook tears from my eyes 😢.

She said:
“My pikin… if I frown, the akara no go sell. But if I smile, people go buy, and I too go enjoy the small life wey God give me. Trouble dey everywhere, but smile dey sweet pass tears.” 💔✨

That one hit me like thunder ⚡. Because many of us dey carry life too heavy on our faces — we frown, we complain, we murmur, and sometimes we even chase away blessings with our attitude 😞.

Her words reminded me that happiness is not about what you HAVE, it’s about what you CHOOSE. 🙌 You may not have plenty money, you may be struggling, but if you still hold gratitude and joy in your heart ❤️, your life go shine brighter than a millionaire who is always sad.

For many people, Saturday morning looks like:

🛋 “Let me rest small before I start” → Netflix says hello, and there goes your day.

By Sunday night, regret kicks in.

💔“I lost my phone, my tools, my spark… but NOT my will.”

Two years ago, life humbled me. 😔
I had just learned graphic design — a skill I was so passionate about, one I thought would change my life.

Then BOOM!
My phone got stolen.
Just like that, all my hope vanished.

No laptop.
No money.
No fancy equipment.

I managed to gather small change and the only phone I could afford was an itel A05.
Yes, that one. The one that crashes when you open more than one app.
The one that said: “You wan design? Oga go rest.”

PixelLab?
Can’t even load.
Canva? Crash after 2 minutes.
Every editing app I downloaded rejected me like I owed them rent.

Omo I cried 😔
I won’t even lie — I felt useless.
How do you create magic with a broken wand?

But guess what?

I refused to give up. 😤

I found alternatives — hard, frustrating, long routes.
I used Snapseed and Background Eraser to do designs people wouldn’t even believe I created with such a phone.
It was tiring. Annoying. Discouraging.
But I kept showing up.
Even when nobody saw it. Even when the design took 4 hours to finish.

I did it because I believed in my gift.
I knew I had value.
And most importantly — I knew my journey might be rough, but it will still inspire someone one day.

So today, I’m sharing this design I’ve been cooking for months — one I did through blood and sweat.
