*CULTURE MEETS INNOVATION HOLDS IN ORILE-AGEGE: A CELEBRATION OF TRADITION, UNITY, AND DEVELOPMENT*.
The “Culture Meets Innovation” programme, held on Tuesday, 7th October 2025, at the Orile-Agege LCDA Secretariat, was a colorful and historic event that magnificently showcased the richness of Yoruba tradition harmonized with modern creativity and technology.
The event, themed “Culture Meets Innovation: …Uniting Through Synergy,” attracted notable dignitaries and cultural icons, including His Royal Majesty, Oba Alaiyeluwa Ambaliu Akeem Adegbeyi (JP), the Alaige of Orile-Agege, and His Royal Majesty, Oba Latif Oladimeji Egbeyemi Of Agege Kingdom, the Ologba of Ogba Land.
The royal fathers took turns to address the audience, emphasizing the importance of preserving cultural values, respecting traditional institutions, and passing down indigenous knowledge to the younger generation in an era of globalization and technological advancement.
In his welcome address, the Executive Chairman of Orile-Agege LCDA, Hon. Akinola Abiodun Idowu (Dodo), warmly appreciated the presence of the royal fathers, the Vice Chairman, the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Councillors, Baales, Chiefs, Community Leaders, party stalwarts, and members of the Fourth Estate of the Realm for their steadfast support and contributions to the council’s continuous growth.
Hon. Akinola reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to upholding and promoting cultural heritage alongside technological innovation, stressing that culture remains the soul of every society. He assured traditionalists of full recognition and inclusion in council activities, just as adherents of other faiths enjoy, while pledging continued support for cultural development and community unity.
He further acknowledged the visionary leadership of the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa (Sheu), for his monumental contributions and infrastructural impact across Agege and Orile-Agege. He described Dr. Obasa as a beacon of progress and people-centered leadership whose influence continues to inspire grassroots governance.
Encouraging residents to participate actively in governance, Hon. Akinola urged all eligible citizens to take part in the ongoing voter registration exercise and to stand firm in support of the Asiwaju 2027 Re-election Agenda and the Dr. Obasa 2027 Project, emphasizing that political unity and participation remain vital tools for sustainable development.
The cultural exposition featured mesmerizing masquerade displays, traditional dances, musical performances, and craft exhibitions, perfectly merging heritage with innovation and showcasing the creative talents of the Orile-Agege people.
In a remarkable highlight, two foreign Chinese nationals who have contributed to community partnership and cultural exchange were honoured with special awards during the event. Their presence and recognition symbolized the spirit of unity and international collaboration that defines Orile-Agege’s forward-thinking vision.
The programme was anchored by Mrs. Bukola, the Head of the Information Department, who skillfully coordinated the proceedings and ensured a smooth, engaging flow of activities throughout the event.
The event concluded with a strong message of unity, cultural pride, and collective progress, reinforcing the vision of Orile-Agege LCDA under Hon. Akinola Abiodun Idowu , a community where tradition and innovation coexist to drive development and prosperity.
