*CULTURE MEETS INNOVATION HOLDS IN ORILE-AGEGE: A CELEBRATION OF TRADITION, UNITY, AND DEVELOPMENT*.

The “Culture Meets Innovation” programme, held on Tuesday, 7th October 2025, at the Orile-Agege LCDA Secretariat, was a colorful and historic event that magnificently showcased the richness of Yoruba tradition harmonized with modern creativity and technology.

The event, themed “Culture Meets Innovation: …Uniting Through Synergy,” attracted notable dignitaries and cultural icons, including His Royal Majesty, Oba Alaiyeluwa Ambaliu Akeem Adegbeyi (JP), the Alaige of Orile-Agege, and His Royal Majesty, Oba Latif Oladimeji Egbeyemi Of Agege Kingdom, the Ologba of Ogba Land.

The royal fathers took turns to address the audience, emphasizing the importance of preserving cultural values, respecting traditional institutions, and passing down indigenous knowledge to the younger generation in an era of globalization and technological advancement.

In his welcome address, the Executive Chairman of Orile-Agege LCDA, Hon. Akinola Abiodun Idowu (Dodo), warmly appreciated the presence of the royal fathers, the Vice Chairman, the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Councillors, Baales, Chiefs, Community Leaders, party stalwarts, and members of the Fourth Estate of the Realm for their steadfast support and contributions to the council’s continuous growth.

Hon. Akinola reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to upholding and promoting cultural heritage alongside technological innovation, stressing that culture remains the soul of every society. He assured traditionalists of full recognition and inclusion in council activities, just as adherents of other faiths enjoy, while pledging continued support for cultural development and community unity.

He further acknowledged the visionary leadership of the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa (Sheu), for his monumental contributions and infrastructural impact across Agege and Orile-Agege. He described Dr. Obasa as a beacon of progress and people-centered leadership whose influence continues to inspire grassroots governance.

Encouraging residents to participate actively in governance, Hon. Akinola urged all eligible citizens to take part in the ongoing voter registration exercise and to stand firm in support of the Asiwaju 2027 Re-election Agenda and the Dr. Obasa 2027 Project, emphasizing that political unity and participation remain vital tools for sustainable development.

The cultural exposition featured mesmerizing masquerade displays, traditional dances, musical performances, and craft exhibitions, perfectly merging heritage with innovation and showcasing the creative talents of the Orile-Agege people.

In a remarkable highlight, two foreign Chinese nationals who have contributed to community partnership and cultural exchange were honoured with special awards during the event. Their presence and recognition symbolized the spirit of unity and international collaboration that defines Orile-Agege’s forward-thinking vision.

The programme was anchored by Mrs. Bukola, the Head of the Information Department, who skillfully coordinated the proceedings and ensured a smooth, engaging flow of activities throughout the event.

The event concluded with a strong message of unity, cultural pride, and collective progress, reinforcing the vision of Orile-Agege LCDA under Hon. Akinola Abiodun Idowu , a community where tradition and innovation coexist to drive development and prosperity.

‎The group leave no stone unturned in its mobilisation drive towards the Asiwaju 2027 re-election bid which without doubt is central to the group hence the drive for continuous Voter's registration.

‎In his opening remark the group Coordinator in Orile Agege, Hon Akinbile Olushola emphasized the need for more voters registration, which according to him is the tool needed to deliver on the Asiwaju 2027 agenda.

‎The Leader of the group, Hon Alaba Alase buttressed the same point raised by the coordinator on the need to register more voters in order to position the party for 2027 general election taking the advantage of the continuous voter's registration exercise.

ORILE AGEGE LCDA COMMENCES CONSTRUCTION OF EGBATEDO STREET DRAINAGE SYSTEM AND INTERLOCKING

In line with his commitment to infrastructural development as a key part of his administration’s manifesto, the Executive Chairman of Orile Agege Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Honourable Akinola Abiodun Idowu, today 30th September, 2025 officially launched the construction of the Egbatedo Street drainage system and interlocking project.

This marks the second major road project under his leadership and signals the administration’s proactive approach to tackling environmental and infrastructural challenges in the LCDA.

The project flag-off was attended by key stakeholders including the Council Manager, the Chief of Staff, councilors, members of the Works Department, Contractors, engineers, traditional leaders, members of the CDA and residents of the area.

Speaking during the launch, Hon. Akinola Idowu reaffirmed that infrastructure remains a top priority for his administration. He announced that the construction of Egbatedo Street is Phase One of a two-part project, with Phase Two slated for implementation under next year's budget.

The Chairman also revealed his administration's ambitious plan to construct 8 to 10 roads within the first 100 days in office, assuring the public that Phase One of Egbatedo Street will be completed before the end of the 100-day milestone.

Honourable Afolabi, Councilor representing Ward D, described the project as a "mission accomplished", expressing his satisfaction with the pace of progress. He encouraged residents to support the project by avoiding the dumping of refuse in the drainage channels, emphasizing that proper usage is crucial for long-term sustainability.

In a similar vein, High Chief Jimoh Ololade Kareem, Baale of Papa Ewedairo, expressed his delight and gratitude for the developmental strides of the present administration.
He extended commendations to Hon. Akinola Idowu, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Baale noted that the community has faced flooding issues for over 30 years, and this project represents a long-awaited solution. He urged residents to fully support and safeguard the ongoing construction and pledged his continuous support and prayers for the administration.

The Council Manager, in his remarks, appealed to the community to protect construction materials and equipment ensuring they are not vandalized or stolen. He warned against allowing miscreants or touts to disrupt the work, urging residents to facilitate a smooth and secure work environment.

Also present at the event, former Councilor Hon. Wahab Adeoye commended the administration for its decisive action, encouraging residents to unite behind the leadership to ensure successful project delivery and overall development of Orile Agege LCDA.

As work commences in earnest, the residents of Egbatedo Street and the wider community look forward to the transformation of their environment and the positive impact this project will bring. The administration has again demonstrated its resolve to bring real and visible change.

‎The Acting Chairman of Agege Local Government,Hon. Abdul-Ganiyu Vinod Obasa, successfully delivered one of his numerous mandates to the people of Agege through the much-celebrated 50% Food Subsidy Programme in partnership with Inspire Lagos Food Market.

‎The 50% Food Subsidy Programme held at Agege Stadium, witnessed a massive turnout as residents trooped out in large numbers to take advantage of the rear opportunity of 15 essential food items which include: rice, beans, yam, garri, vegetable oil, and other staples products at just half of the regular market price.

*AGEGE MHR, DR WALE AHMED ENGAGED. CONSTITUENT IN STAKEHOLDERS’ MEETING*

The Federal Lawmaker representing Agege Federal Constituency, Hon. Dr. Wale Ahmed (Noble), today played host to stakeholders in the Agege Federal Constituency inn an interactive and engaging Stakeholders’ Meeting held at the Agege Local Government Multi-Purpose Hall, with the theme “A Year in Review: Celebrating Achievements and Progress.”

The event brought together traditional rulers, political leaders, market associations, women leaders, youth groups, and community stakeholders from across Agege and Orile Agege to celebrate achievements and chart a way forward for the constituency.

Highlights of the Program:

The meeting opened with the National Anthem, prayers led by the Chief Imam of Agege LG, followed by songs, dance, and praises for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, and Hon. Wale Ahmed.

Welcome Speech: Delivered by Hon. Olaniyi Salawu, APC Chairman, Orile Agege, who emphasized President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
