OOU SUG, EBUMAWE, LANDLORDS’ ASSOCIATIONS AND CARETAKERS REACH AGREEMENT TO REDUCE RENT IN AGO IWOYE

The teeming leadership of the Union led by Sen Awoyemi Michael aka Sen Pablo wishes to inform all OOUITES living in Ago Iwoye that the Landlords and Caretakers in Ago Iwoye have agreed to forego four (4) months out of the yearly rent as a form of relief after the negative effect caused by the Pandemic.

The meeting held yesterday 11th January, 2021 was presided by his Royal Highness; Ebumawe of Ago-Iwoye, which had in attendance the Students’ Union leaders, student stakeholders, the Director Students’ Affairs, the Chief Security Officer, OOU (CSO), the DPO Police Station (Ago Iwoye Division), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (Ago- Iwoye Division), the Landlords’ Association, Caretakers, Agents, members of PCRC and other stakeholders. It was agreed after lots of deliberation between the above named parties that due to the Pandemic (Corana Virus) and the effect it has on students’ financial status which was not foreseen, students will be given the discount of four (4) months. In other words, students are to pay for Eight (8) months rent while the landlords in their benevolence have agreed to harbour the cost of the remaining 4 months as a form of relief for the students.

To this effect, students who live in Ago-iwoye who are yet to pay their rents or owing a year's rent are to pay for only 8 months, those who have already paid their rent are to pay for Eight (8) months on their next rent.

Students are to note that this is a resolution made between the Union and the above named parties, the written form of this resolution will be made public. However, in a situation where your Landlord or Caretaker is unwilling to comply, such cases should be reported to the desk of the Students’ Union Government.

We also implore students to engage their Landlords, Caretakers or Agents as the case may be in a cerebral manner.

For students staying in Oru, Ilaporu, Awa, and other neighboring towns, the Union has commenced efforts to also reach a suitable agreement on behalf of student residents in those areas.

Also, for students at the annex campuses (ibogun, sagamu, ayetoro), Committees led by Vice-Presidents of each campus have been constituted to intervene and reach similar resolutions.

The Students’ Union Government led by *Sen Awoyemi Michael aka Sen Pablo* reteriates that we will continue to put more effort as we have been doing in the past to ensure maximum welfarism of students which is our top most priority.

Important Notice To All OOUITES

The teeming leadership of the union sends her solidarity greetings to all OOUITES. We hope and trust that we are fine and staying safe as we all know the current situation of the country at the moment.

With the current trend of looting, stealing, burgling and violence experienced at various malls, shops and boutiques with lotsof valuables been carted away at different part of the country, it is important to note that some of these stolen items such as phones, clothes, shoes, jewelries and many other essential valuables would enter the streets and markets very soon. We urge all OOUITES and every member of the OOU Family to be on alert and make sure they DON'T purchase anything from a source that is not trusted and verifiable. The essence of this, is for us not to fall into the trap of buying STOLEN ITEMS. We should be mindful of individuals who will also come up with trick and tactics such as - "hold this thing for me or lend me some money and take this as collateral" as this may be detrimental and have consequences in the long run. All items bought should have a known address, verifiable contact information and a proof of individual faces involved in transactions, not forgetting receipts as well, except for the regular foodstuffs we buy in the markets.

We urge all students to adopt caution, be extra careful and stay at alert and safe in this sensitive times. The teeming leadership of the union has and would always be available to cater for the welfarism of students in our wonderful institution.

Over the years, some of these issues have raised dust between stakeholders in the sector, leading to countless industrial actions.

Nigeria clocks 60, and we strongly believe that our education mishap experienced during this period will be put to an end.

OOU ANNOUNCES POST UTME REGISTRATION PROCESS

OOU VANGUARD

The management of Olabisi Onabanjo University via a press release signed by the institution registrar Femi Ogunwomoju have disclosed that candidates interested in the institution can now proceed to register for this year's screening exercise. The SUG PRO of the institution Comrade Nicolas Alabi also confirmed this latest development to OOU VANGUARD.

Each eligible candidate will pay the sum of N2,000.00 (Two Thousand Naira) only for Screening Exercise and administrative charges. While each candidate is expected to create a profile and pay online through the school portal http://portal.oouagoiwoye.edu.ng/application/apply.php and thereafter generate a Payment invoice.

Any candidate with problems should call the following Telephone Numbers between the hours of 8.00 a.m. - 4.00 p.m. Monday to Friday 08058872370, 08153309810, 08055159865 08055606475.

The following candidates can apply;

• UTME Candidates that chose the University as first choice with a minimum score of 180 in the 2020/2021 UTME Results.

• Candidates who chose the University as second choice but with a minimum score of 180 in the 2020/2021 UTME Results and are ready to change to the University as first choice on or before Friday 4th September, 2020.

• Candidates who did not choose the University as either first or second choice but with a minimum score of 180 in the 2020/2021 UTME Results and are ready to change to the University as first choice on or before Friday 4th September, 2020.

• Candidates with Diploma (OND/HND)/NCE/A’LEVEL/JUPEB Results/Certificate or First Degree from approved institutions who had applied for Direct Entry Admission through JAMB into the University.

• Candidates with Diploma from approved institutions who had applied through JAMB for direct entry admission into the University must possess a minimum of Upper Credit.

The dates and the modality for the Post-UTME Screening Exercise will be communicated in due course. Candidates have also been urged to regularly check for further information on the Screening on the University website: http://putme.oouagoiwoye.edu.ng and also clearly stating that the university has no agent

OOU SUG Tribute To Late Professor Alaba Adenuga

No matter who pens them, nor in which language they are being written, mere words fail to convey the sadness that befell us all on July the 3rd, 2020, when Professor Alaba Adenuga passed on to meet his maker. He became a legend in his own lifetime, a legend that will never be surpassed.

He shared freely his vast knowledge of his experiences, his expertise, and the warmth of his personality with us all, not just as a Lecturer but also as a father. The thousands of people, young and seasoned, who have been privileged to have met him, and benefited from his wealth of knowledge and wisdom will treasure their memories of him, and mourn his loss forever.

The teeming leadership of the union on behalf of the entire OOU student community send our sincere condolences to his family and friends and the the University community at large.

We will all surely miss you Professor Alaba Adenuga

Today in the history of Olabisi Onabanjo University is not a date to be excited about, exactly 5 years ago we lost valuable, precious and great individuals who were destined for greater impact on earth.

On the 26th of June we lost 8 students to an unfortunate road mishap, that changed the trajectory of many families forever. The pains and agony of this tragic moment still rekindles in the heart of friends, families and loved ones associated with our vibrant heroes.

As we continue to live our lives, let's not forget to pray for the families of our fallen giants to receive the strength to carry on and their souls continually rest in perfect peace.
