In June 2023, Kristel Candelario abandoned her 16-month-old daughter at their Ohio home to vacation in Puerto Rico for 10 days. Here are some of the photos she took while her daughter was left to starve to death alone.

An autopsy by the City medical examiner's office determined that the baby died of starvation and severe dehydration.

Candelario cited mental health issues as her reason for leaving Jailyn alone, but the court sentenced her to life without parole for her shocking crime.
