Former Nigerian president, Muhammadu Buhari who died on Sunday has been buried in his home in Daura, northwest Katsina state. Buhari died in a London clinic following a prolonged illness. The remains of the late president arrived in Nigeria on Tuesday afternoon, accompanied by Vice President Kashim Shettima, and received by President Bola Tinubu.

Two former candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party ( ) in , Jegede and Ajayi, have officially joined the African Democratic Congress ( ), becoming part of a coalition planning to challenge Bola ’s government in the #2027 elections.

The coalition, which was launched at the state level in , is made up of several former political office holders and key PDP figures.

They include a former senator, Nicholas Tofowomo; a former House of Representatives member, Bode Ayorinde; ex-PDP state chairman, Tola Alabere; and a former PDP publicity secretary, Kennedy Peretei.

Akure to Host JCI Nigeria 2025 National Convention

Akure, the capital of Ondo State, will host the 63rd JCI Nigeria National Convention, tagged Akure’25, from 8–12, 2025. Awarded to JCI Akure after a competitive bid, the is expected to draw over 5,000 young leaders, entrepreneurs, and professionals from Nigeria and across the globe.

As JCI marks 110 years globally and 68 years in Nigeria, the convention promises high-impact sessions trainings, assemblies, exhibitions, networking, elections, and cultural showcases.

A devastating flood has affected some major roads and streets in the Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State, following torrential rainfall on Friday.

The flood, it was gathered, wreaked havoc as the rainfall continued on Friday, disrupting economic activities as people were unable to commute to various destinations in the town.

Major roads in the ancient town, such as Erinje area, Ogungbo junction, and Ode Etikan, which had no drainage, were reportedly affected by the flood.

The situation was also not different from some parts of the Ereke, Ayetitun, and Temidire areas, which were partly submerged, creating traffic gridlocks across the town’s commercial nerve centre.

The flood also hit the major road leading to the residence of the chairman of the local government, Andrew Ogunsakin.

Ooni to lead Yoruba Monarchs to Deji of Akure 10th coronation ceremony

The Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II is expected to lead Monarchs from Yoruba land to the celebration of the 10th coronation anniversary of Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, the Deji of Akure.

This was disclosed by the Chairman of the publicity committee of the 10th anniversary, Mr. Adeyeye Michael during a visit of the planning committee to the Ooni at his palace in Ile-ife.

The described Akure as one of his preferred second home. I love Akure and you can see the little we have done to support the Akure land and to also express my love for the good people of Akure who are bonafide descendants of Oduduwa. I recalled that Ooni Ekun has many resemblance and ties with Akure Land. Therefore, you can't detach Akure from Ife.

Oba Enitan promised that the event is going to be a big one. We will be fully involved alongside other Kabiyesi from Oodua Land.

Speaking earlier on behalf of the Central Planning Committee Chairman, Mr. Femi Meshe, the Olu of Okelisa Titun, Olu Adekunle Ajanaku who described the Ooni as a father to all who is well qualified in all facets to lead the Traditional institution of all Yoruba and black race. He thanked him for his leadership and promised that Akure Land is fully prepared to receive him and other Monarchs from Land and other parts of the nation.

The Big Ten event is schedule to hold between 16th and 20th July, 2025 with series of events schedule to mark the 10th anniversary.
