FAMILY TRAGEDY IN AKURE: SON ARRESTED AFTER FATHER DIES FOLLOWING ALTERCATION

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 38-year-old man, Nsikak Kingsley, over the alleged death of his 65-year-old father, Adone Peter, in Oda Community, Akure South Local Government Area.

According to the Police, the incident happened on May 28, 2026, after a disagreement between the father and son reportedly turned into a physical confrontation. The father sustained serious injuries and was taken to a medical facility, where he was later confirmed dead while receiving treatment.

The case was reported to the police by another son of the deceased, after which officers arrested the suspect for investigation.

The Ondo State Police Command confirmed that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation, while the suspect remains in custody and will be charged to court after investigations are concluded.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Felix Ohagwu, condemned the incident and advised members of the public to avoid violence and seek peaceful ways of resolving disagreements.

OWO CHURCH ATTACK: COURT SENTENCES FOUR SUSPECTS TO DEATH

Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has commended the Judiciary and security agencies following the conviction and death sentence of four suspects involved in the June 5, 2022 attack on St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo.

The Governor described the judgment as a victory for justice, the rule of law, and for the victims and families affected by the tragic incident.

He praised the efforts of the prosecution team, investigators, and the judiciary, stating that the verdict sends a strong message that acts of terror and violence will not be tolerated.

Governor Aiyedatiwa also appreciated the people of Owo and the Catholic community for their resilience while assuring residents that his administration will continue working with security agencies to strengthen safety across the state.

He prayed for the souls of those who lost their lives and for comfort for their families.
