Sustaining And Upholding Cultural Values By The Students Of College Of Education, Akwanga / Students Week 2025.

Every year the students of tertiary institutions set aside one or two weeks for recreational and social activities ranging from inter-school/faculty Football competitions, Customs day, and with Grand Finale Of cultural display/competition coming from the students representing their various tribes or cultural heritage across the state and beyond. It is a part of the curriculum activities designed to ease the study burden of the student in accordance with the saying “Work and No Play Make Jack a Dull Boy”. Therefore, recreational activities form the basis of educational discipline here in the college.

This year’s event expanded the thought in the hearts of the students, whereby the true demonstrations of cultural exhibition were seen among the students during the week-long period. The period for the activities was carefully allocated, allowing room for lecture-free days enabling the student to interact and correlate easily and freely without fear of losing any continuous assessments.

The Act. Provost of the college Dr. Danladi Ibrahim who was ably represented by Mr. Suleiman Agahu Ibrahim, the dean, School of Arts and Social Science (SSASA) in his speech at the grand finale “Cultural Day” commends the efforts of the Students for showcasing the true identity of their various cultural heritage resonances. He Appreciate the good effort of the government considering the economic situation in the state and country today, when he encouraged the students to cooperate with the government in trying to make a life a better place. He urged the student to also Work hard in their studies by reading their books so that they do well in the forthcoming exams. “Remember your essence here in the college is to study hard so that at the end you collect the NCE Certificate, therefore, in the mix these jubilations, celebrations, and competitions remember to work hard in your books”, he said.

Finally, he wished them a happy celebration and a successful stay in the college.

This year’s cultural display was indeed the best of its kind whereby the student displayed not just the regalia or dancing steps, but also the presentation of various masquerades from various cultural groups also the costume day was another colourful moment within the college premises.

THE SCHOOL OF SCIENCES EMERGED VICTORIOUS AT THE 2025 COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, AKWANGA PROVOST FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT.

The school of sciences after a week-long battle in the provost football tournament, emerges as defending Champions for the 3rd time, on the 19th August, 2025 at the college’s Sports Complex.

After a goalless draw in regular time, the School of Sciences won 5-3 in a penalty shootout with Gold Medal, against the School of VOC & Tech, with Silver Medal. While the School of Undergraduates clinched Third place, in the third-place playoff with the Bronze Medal.

Other positions were:

4th Position: SASS.

5th Position: Sch. Of Education.

6th Position: ECCE & PES.

7th Position: Sch. Of Languages.

Expressing his unreserved happiness over the successful tournament, the Act. Provost, Dr. Danladi Ibrahim, according to him, the boys have made the School of Sciences proud by retaining the trophy for the third time now. Furthermore, he encouraged them to keep their head up ensuring sport forms part of their endeavor, when he further advised all the students to stay away from social vices or elicit drugs, instead they should focus on their studies.

From his personal remuneration, the Act. Provost, Dr. Danladi offered cash prizes in the following categories: First Position (Sciences) N50,000 Second Position (VOC & Tech) N30,000, and Third Position (School of Undergraduate) N20,000

The football final recorded the presence of personalities like the Dean Student Affairs Dr. Mohammed Gwamnan who is the Chairman, Sport Committee, Dean School of VOC & Tech Mr. Ahmadi Omame Oyigbenu, Dean School of Sciences Mr. Bob Luca Kpadji, HODs, Directors and other Invited Guest.

THE 2025 HOME ECONOMICS NCE 3 EXHIBITION CEREMONY

For the pursuant of a National Certificate of Education in Home Economics, the graduating student of the department NCE 3, today 13th August, 2025; showcase their acquired talent through crafting and the production of household items which includes, furniture clothing, culinary Arts, Textile Clothing, varieties of tradition dishes, cakes and assorted drinks etc. The venue of the event was the Home Economics Complex, College of Education, Akwanga.

In her opening address the Head of Department of Home Economics, Mrs Agness Ogwuche, first she expressed gratitude to the Provost and the entire college management for their continued support and encouragement. “We gathered to celebrate the remarkable achievement of our graduating students who have completed their rigorous three-year academic journey within these hallowed walls”. She said. So far a total number of 61 students graduated this year.

Looking at the need for the department to meet the growing demands for a modern vocational training therefore, Mrs. Ogwuche used the moment to solicit the management’s intervention on the pressing need of the department in some critical areas which directly affect the teaching experience in the department to include: The departmental laboratories, that’s the Food Laboratories and the clothing laboratories which requires refurbishing and equipment upgrades.

Emphasizing on the importance of the recently introduced Laundry Unit in the departments, in order to train the student in professional garment care and management, she also made a plea, on the need for water supply at the unit. Concluding her remarks, on behalf of the department she once again appreciate all for making the ceremony possible and colourful. “May we continue to grow and shine” she said.

Declaring the exhibition open the Acting Provost of the College Dr. Danladi Ibrahim, appreciate the leadership of the Department of Home Economic, the Head of department, Academic and non-teaching staff for their unwavering commitment to excellence. When he acknowledges the fact they’ve gone beyond the classroom to make learning practical, impactful, and transformative. He advised the graduating student to make good use of the knowledge acquired by creating a value-chain in their respective communities. “you have shown that Home Economics is not just a subject, but a life skill which is also as a source of contribution to the society” he said.

Furthermore, he reiterated on the readiness of the management to keep supporting the Home Economic Department through infrastructure, funding, training, and exposure - to ensure that our students get the best experience and preparation for life after school.

Finally, with unwavering faith, He declared the 2025, Home Economics Exhibition officially open and pray for God’s blessing all the way.

The climax of the event was a thrilling colourful cultural display by the students of the department.

DOWNLOADING, FILLING AND SUBMISSION OF CODE OF CONDUCT BUREAU FORM.

With the respect to the just concluded sensitization workshop organized by the Code of Conduct Bureau on Monday, July 21, 2025, titled "Self Service Assets and Liabilities Declaration Form For Public Officers (CCB 1)," aimed to educate civil servants on the importance of transparency in declaring their assets and liabilities.

The entire college staffs are hereby directed to download, fill and submit the Code of Conduct Bureau Form shared through the colleges WhatsApp groups. For those that are not online they can collect copy from their friends or colleagues.

"Do things with sincerity of heart". Mr. Bulus Musa Amoyi, Chairman College of Education, Akwanga Governing Council tells Bidders at Tender Opening......

Today the 24th July, 2025, the College of Education Akwanga held a tender opening ceremony at noon venue of the event was the Provost's Office (Boardroom). As part of the TETFUND’s commitment to ensuring a conducive learning environment, the tender is an annual TETFUND Intervention basically for rehabilitation, furnishing, and upgrades of physical and existing structures in the college.

In his opening remarks, the Acting Provost of the college who is also the Chairman of the Tender Board, Dr. Danladi Ibrahim, after defining the purpose of the meeting and welcoming everyone, He assured the bidders that the selection process would be fair and transparent therefore, he encouraged those who might be successful to ensure a quality job is maintained that will guarantee efficiency and durability.

The Chairman, Governing Council of the College, Mr. Bulus Musa Amoyi, who among his scheduled finds time to attend the tender opening to see for himself; cautions the successful bidders to carry out the project with sincerity of heart and within the stipulated time frame as stipulated in the quotation, for optimal achievement and conducive learning environment.

On today’s ceremony, three tenders were opened: The TETFUND Annual Intervention for the rehabilitation and furnishing of the Administration Block Building with five Bidders for the project, LOT II for the Upgrade and rehabilitation of the classroom building at Theatre Art Complex of the College, as usual, with Five (5) Bidders, lastly LOT III is for Upgrading and rehabilitation, furnishing of Lecture Hall II and Development Building.

The tender opening process, as usual, was conducted by Mal. Salisu Mohammed Yusuf, the Acting Director of Procurement, in the presence of all bidders and the College management. The quoted figures and projects duration were read out. Two bidders acknowledged the transparency of the process saying it was conducted transparently in accordance with the laid-down ethics.

The Registrar, Mr. Ojikpa Yakubu Alem, appreciated the bidders for their participation and commended them for accepting the outcome graciously, when he emphasized the statement made by Mr. Amoyi, on quality work in accordance with the stipulated period. He used the moment to appreciate the Chairman Governing Council, Mr. Bulus Musa Amoyi for his exemplary quality, for finding time to attend. Lastly, he wished everyone a safe journey back to their respective homes.

College of Education Akwanga: New Staff Express Gratitude to Management

The newly employed staff of College of Education, Akwanga, paid a courtesy visit to Acting Provost Dr. Danladi Ibrahim on Wednesday, July 23, 2025.

The leader of the forum, Mr Robert Danjuma Nicholas, expressed gratitude to Governor Abdullahi Sule for their employment and the College Management for issuing them Confirmation Letters.

Mr Nicholas also thanked Dr. Ibrahim for graciously approving over 100 staff requests to pursue master's degree programs and Ph.D.s, and commended the Management for promoting teamwork between old and new staff.

Responding, Acting Provost Dr. Danladi Ibrahim called on the new employees to remain united and focused on imparting knowledge to students.

In a closing remark, a member of the delegation, Dr. Tabitha prayed for the Acting Provost's well-being and appealed to him to support the new staff, like their older colleagues, to engage in all the College's curricular activities which is a prerequisite to their career advancement.

*Federal Ministry of Finance Empowers College of Education Akwanga Students with Entrepreneurship Textbooks*

The Federal Ministry of Finance has taken a significant step towards promoting entrepreneurship among young Nigerians by distributing 320 entrepreneurship textbooks to students of the College of Education Akwanga. The textbooks, titled "Successful Nigerian Entrepreneurs," aim to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to drive economic prosperity.

Mr. Ayo Kunle, Assistant Director of the Entrepreneurship Unit at the Federal Ministry of Finance, emphasized the importance of applying vocational and technical knowledge and skills for economic empowerment. He encouraged students to leverage the information contained in the books to foster personal growth and financial freedom.

Dr. Adebo Abdullah Odus, Director of the Directorate of Entrepreneurship at the College of Education Akwanga, echoed Mr. Kunle's sentiments, highlighting the need for students to not only read but also apply the knowledge and skills acquired through entrepreneurship studies. He noted that entrepreneurship can play a vital role in addressing the challenges of unemployment and unemployability in Nigeria.

The distribution of these textbooks is part of a broader initiative to promote entrepreneurship and economic development in Nigeria. By empowering students with the right knowledge and skills, the Federal Ministry of Finance aims to foster a new generation of entrepreneurs who can drive economic growth and development in the country

College of Education Akwanga Hosts Asset Declaration Workshop for Civil Servants

The College of Education, Akwanga, played host to a sensitization workshop organized by the Code of Conduct Bureau on Monday, July 21, 2025.

The workshop, titled "Self Service Assets and Liabilities Declaration Form For Public Officers (CCB 1)," aimed to educate civil servants on the importance of transparency in declaring their assets and liabilities.

While delivering the opening remarks, Acting Provost of the College, Dr. Danladi Ibrahim, emphasized the need for civil servants to declare their assets upon assuming office, particularly principal officers. "Assets declaration by civil servants will prevent the diversion of funds and promote accountability among public officers," he stated.

The workshop equipped participants with the knowledge and skills required to accurately fill out the forms provided by the Code of Conduct Bureau.

Dr Ibrahim urged all participants to declare their assets accurately, emphasizing the importance of transparency and accountability in public service.
"At the end of this workshop, therefore, it is hoped that each and everyone of you will declare their assets and liabilities accurately to ensure transparency and accountability," the Acting Provost added.

The facilitators, Mr. Alabi Oluseye and Malam Suleiman Abubakar Amir, led the workshop, which aimed to address challenges faced by civil servants in declaring their assets.

The workshop highlights the College's commitment to promoting integrity and good governance among its staff, aligning with the Code of Conduct Bureau's efforts to ensure compliance with asset declaration regulations.
