Sustaining And Upholding Cultural Values By The Students Of College Of Education, Akwanga / Students Week 2025.
Every year the students of tertiary institutions set aside one or two weeks for recreational and social activities ranging from inter-school/faculty Football competitions, Customs day, and with Grand Finale Of cultural display/competition coming from the students representing their various tribes or cultural heritage across the state and beyond. It is a part of the curriculum activities designed to ease the study burden of the student in accordance with the saying “Work and No Play Make Jack a Dull Boy”. Therefore, recreational activities form the basis of educational discipline here in the college.
This year’s event expanded the thought in the hearts of the students, whereby the true demonstrations of cultural exhibition were seen among the students during the week-long period. The period for the activities was carefully allocated, allowing room for lecture-free days enabling the student to interact and correlate easily and freely without fear of losing any continuous assessments.
The Act. Provost of the college Dr. Danladi Ibrahim who was ably represented by Mr. Suleiman Agahu Ibrahim, the dean, School of Arts and Social Science (SSASA) in his speech at the grand finale “Cultural Day” commends the efforts of the Students for showcasing the true identity of their various cultural heritage resonances. He Appreciate the good effort of the government considering the economic situation in the state and country today, when he encouraged the students to cooperate with the government in trying to make a life a better place. He urged the student to also Work hard in their studies by reading their books so that they do well in the forthcoming exams. “Remember your essence here in the college is to study hard so that at the end you collect the NCE Certificate, therefore, in the mix these jubilations, celebrations, and competitions remember to work hard in your books”, he said.
Finally, he wished them a happy celebration and a successful stay in the college.
This year’s cultural display was indeed the best of its kind whereby the student displayed not just the regalia or dancing steps, but also the presentation of various masquerades from various cultural groups also the costume day was another colourful moment within the college premises.
