Deans are academic leaders with academic, programmatic, managerial, and fiscal responsibilities for a school/ faculty. They verify the adequacy of instruction, monitor academic integrity, confer degrees, and are responsible for student admission requirements for academic progress. They are responsible for the ethical conduct of research and for establishing and maintaining a culture of compliance and integrity among faculty, staff, and students. They provide local direction and resourpces for the education, training, and implementation of the federal, state, and local government regulations and sponsoring agency policies and procedures.

The system at the College of Education, Akwanga, is not new. In order to promote an efficient or benevolent working environment that stands to keep a credible record and to proffer a smooth working environment for both academic and nonacademic staff & student of the college, the position of Deans is a rotational, which runs consecutively for a three years, after which its declared open for election.

He used the moment to commend the electoral committee for a job well done. “Remember to carry out your duties diligently with a fear of God”, Dr. Danladi tells the new deans. More so, he encouraged them to fill in the gap left behind by their predecessors.

Finally, congratulating the new deans, he drew their attention to the oath of allegiance they took/read before the congregation, bearing in mind that God oversees everything, and we shall account for the oath we all took, he said. Therefore, He charged them to be up and doing in the discharge of the trust bestowed on them.

The registrar of the College, Mr. Ojikpa Yakubu Alem, who was the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, introduced the winner; he delivered the oath of allegiance to them, as they read after him.
