"My husband used to be a pilot before he lost his job for 11 months. He then had a meeting with me and said we have to cut down our expenses. First of all, we have two cars. One car needs to go.

And I was like, I'm not going back to sharing a car. I mean, 'I need the car on Friday. Where are you? Please be coming back. I don't want that.’

He also said we have to lay off two of our domestic staffs. We had about four staff members, so two needed to go. I was like, ‘Me, I like comfort. I don't want to be doing all these things. Why? I'm still making money now. I'm still working.’

And he was like, because there's only one income. So everything must be cut down.

So, obviously, he had to take up a lot of responsibility around the house as well, and he was willing to do it. The thing about it is that he led by example. He wasn't just saying, this is what we're going to do. He was showing me.

One of the things that burst people's brains was that he actually came to work for my company. He used to come to the office, and he was earning a salary. To me that was humility. He came to work for his wife in the office with other staff members. He would have to go and do deliveries for my customers.

At that time I had to be extra careful. Not because he had an issue working for me, but because I wanted to make sure that I still honoured him during that time. I believe in the Word of God. I believe that my husband was still the leader.

Leadership is not about how much money you make. It's about the position you have in the home, regardless.

So I still gave him that respect. During that period, I was very careful about certain things I did or said that may not have been an issue before, because the heart of my partner was very important during such a time.

We went through that period together, and it brought us closer. We became very close.

He wasn't just sitting down. He went on a fast, he was praying, he was cooking, he was cleaning, and he was doing all the things he was supposed to do as a man. He wasn't just sitting there being d£press£d.

And he told me, ‘should anything ever happen to me, I want you to know how to lead..."
