The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has stepped up its game with the deployment of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered trucks to distribute petrol nationwide at ₦850 per litre. The move, aimed at cutting logistics costs and stabilizing supply, comes as depot and retail prices continue to climb. Across Lagos and Abuja, petrol now sells between ₦900 and ₦955 per litre, despite Dangote’s intervention. Fuel experts attribute the price hike to rising depot costs, exchange rate pressures, and incomplete refinery rehabilitation. Motorists, however, remain frustrated as expectations of cheaper fuel fade. With some independent stations selling as high as ₦997 per litre, the promise of relief still feels distant. Industry analysts say full stability will come only when the Dangote Refinery reaches maximum production capacity, easing Nigeria’s dependence on imported petroleum products.
