IMO INTERNATIONAL BOOK FAIR AND CONFERENCE (IIBFAC) 2026

Welcome to the second edition of Imo International book fair and conference (IIBFAC) 2026. This book fair/conference is established to promote and market Nigeria and foreign books in one platform. It is a commercial avenue for authors, publishers, marketers, students, teachers and all stakeholders in book industry to come together, foster and synergize for the way forward for book industry.

“IIBFAC “ is a contact point for all book industry stakeholders including authors, publishers, marketers, teachers, students etc. This is the second edition and it promises to be packed with a lot of interesting activities like lectures by our special guest of honors, seminar/workshop, and exhibition of books. Other side attractions include storytelling, spelling bee, drama, music and dance.

The theme of Imo International Book Fair and Conference (IIBFAC) 2026 is “The role of books and education in societal development”.

We are calling on authors, publishers, book sellers and schools to register with this prestigious event and also calling on the government, private sectors and all book industry stakeholders to come and support this book fair/conference.

Imo international book fair and conference (IIBFAC) 2026 is organized by Kurious K Agubom Production. Proudly supported by National Library of Nigeria, Nigeria Copyright Commission (NCC), and Imo State Library.

This event is scheduled to take place at National Library of Nigeria, Owerri, Imo State. Date: Friday 6th March to Tuesday 10th March, 2026. Time: 10am to 5pm daily.

IMO INTERNATIONAL BOOK FAIR (IIBF) 2025

It was a big carnival in Owerri, the capital of Imo State as all book stakeholders from Nigeria and across the world gathered for Imo International book fair (IIBF) 2025. The event which took place at National Library of Nigeria, Owerri, Imo State, was a huge success.

The five day event started on the 23rd of May and ended on May 27th. It was a first of its kind in Imo State. Imo international book fair was organized by Kurious K Agubom Production, proudly supported by National Library of Nigeria, Imo State Library and Nigeria Copyright Commission (NCC).

The event attracted all stakeholders in book industry including authors, publishers, book marketers, teachers, students, librarians, civil servants political appointees etc.

According to Agubom Kingsley Anosike, the founder and coordinator of Imo International book fair (IIBF) in his speech at the closing ceremony noted about the dwindling of reading culture in our society as result of internet. “Education is the bedrock for societal development, that is why we have decided to take this bold step by promoting education in our society through this book fair. Imo international book fair is established to discover talents, showcase and promote Nigeria and foreign books in one platform. This year’s edition is the maiden edition and it is going to be an annual event”.

He further stressed that a society that lacks behind in education also lacks behind in infrastructural and human developments. There is no knowledge and information you cannot find in books, that is why the society needs to promote the reading culture.

At the opening ceremony Dr. D. C. Eddy Ugorji, the deputy director/head of branch, National Library, of Nigeria Imo State branch, delivered a lecture on importance of reading for societal development.

In the same vein, Dr. Agubom John-Kennedy described book fair as a commercial event at which publishers, authors and book dealers exhibit and trade books at discounted prices, specifically aimed at rekindling the reading culture among Nigerians and Imo State students in particular.

This event also emphasized the importance of physical books in the face of emergence of digital or E-books. The event which featured poetry presentation, drama, cultural dance, music, lectures, talent exhibition, and exhibition of various academic books by great authors and publishers from Nigeria and across the world was a huge success. This fair was conceived as more than a masterpiece for books.

It is a movement – a platform that brings together stakeholders from the length and breadth of our nation and beyond, uniting us with a common purpose. In a world increasingly dominated by digital media, the book remains a unique tool for deep learning, imagination, and reflection. It bridges generation, cultures and disciplines.

This fair showcases the diversity of voices and disciplines from seasoned authors and emerging talents who remind us that our stories matter and our ideas have power to usher us into enormous opportunities. Imo international book fair is not merely an event; it is an ecosystem of opportunities.

Agubom Kingsley Anosike also known as Kurious K hails from Okwudor in Njaba local Government Area, Imo State, Nigeria. He is a movie producer, director, and script writer.

He is the CEO of Kurious K Agubom production, KKA Arts Academy. Some of the movies written, produced and directed by Kurious K are sweet killer, cry of the unknown, king of mafia, sparkle, street justice, apprentice etc.

Kurious K is also a music composer and performer. He has two music albums to his credit “African Heritage” and “Curious Flavour”. Kurious K has also won some awards as a film maker and music performer. He is the founder and creative director of the prestigious rap reality television show “Burst da mic Africa”.

Agubom Kingsley Anosike (Kurious K) is a renowned author and publisher. Some of his published books are The Bitter Truth, The Reason, When a Champion Weeps, Dance and Tears, Sacrilege, Long Wait, Lost Sheep, etc. He has published a number of books for some notable writers in Nigeria, USA, Europe and Canada.

This Theatre Arts graduate of Imo State University has worked in many foreign countries including China where he worked as the production manager for Nanhi-lo video production. He is the founder of Imo International Book Fair (IIBF), founder of Starlite Theatre Troupe, co-founder of Nnewi Nollywood Movie Makers Association. And founder/co-ordinator of Integrity Campaigners and Advancement Organization of Nigeria.

Onyekwere Onyinyechi Esther (nee Okoroji) is from Ikeduru LGA in Imo State but married in Isiala Ngwa North LGA Abia State. She holds HND in banking and Finance and a post Graduate diploma in Education, from National Teachers 'Institute, Kaduna.

She is a passionate and outstanding educationist with vast experience in the field of economics, marketing, banking and finance.

Onyekwere Onyekachi Esther has written numerous books including "Model Marketing for West African Secondary School" which is widely read. She has contributed to many journals, marketing and economics books.
