The Load is Light When We Walk in the Light.
Rebecca became pregnant after her 20th wedding anniversary. Then few weeks into the gestation, "the children struggled together within her" (Genesis 25:22).
It wasn't a palatable experience. She was worried. She sighed, "Why should something like this happen to me?"
Her question was expected considering the fact that she had waited for 20 long years.
And all of us have had the Rebecca experience; moments in our lives when we wonder why we had to go through some experiences. Those moments when things have refused to work despite all you have done.
It can be so bad, one can begin to feel cursed, neglected or depressed. You begin to wonder why life keeps rewarding you with bad things despite all the good you have done.
Friend, if you are having the Rebecca experience, I will recommend you also do what Rebecca did. Adopt the Rebecca strategy.
The Bible says, "And she went to consult the Lord." She went to the real Consultant.
Obviously, medicine wasn't as advanced as we have it today. And even if an obstetrician was handy, Rebecca would never be privileged to the information she got from the Consultant.
At most she would told she was having one of the challenges that accompanies multiple births, given some drugs and advised to rest. The ultrasound will never reveal the needed information.
That's why you should never allow technology drive a wedge between you and God. Consult Google if need be but never let Google replace God. Please, see a doctor when you feel sick but remember to tell the Consultant. He might have something to tell you which a medical doctor might not be privy to.
There was no record that the babies stopped wrestling with one another after Rebecca consulted the Lord. As a matter of fact, Jacob held his brother's heel at birth. The struggle probably continued until delivery.
But here is the interesting part, Rebecca didn't have to worry about the struggles because the Lord had spoken. Each time she felt the pain, she remembers God's word,
"Two nations are in your womb, two peoples shall be separated from your body; one people shall be stronger than the other, and the older shall serve the younger."
And because God had spoken to her, the load became light. The burden was easy to carry. Instead of sighing, she sang waiting for the day she would deliver the nations.
Sometimes the reason certain issues in our lives are burdensome isn't because they are actually so bad, it is because we have not had light on them. We lack clarity, direction or illumination. God hasn't spoken to you yet.
It is easier to bear a burden God has spoken to you about. The load is always light when we have God's light about it. With God's voice of direction, assurance and comfort, the burdens become light. You will feel the weight of life's challenges more when God's light is not on your path.
Are you having the Rebecca experience? Then get alone with the Consultant!
Happy Sunday!
