EXCITEMENT AS AROCHUKWU TO THE WORLD PROJECT UNVEILS "AROCHUKWU FOOD AND DRINKS FESTIVAL 2024":

The most anticipated event in 2024 have been unveiled by organizers. The Unveiling ceremony which took place at the prestigious Arochukwu Civic Center was necessary to formerly kickoff activities for the event, address the Press and announce important details to the public.

The buildup of anticipation began last November when the Director General of the Arochukwu To The World Project announced the event on his social media platform and since then, more and more Umu Aro have continued to wait patiently for more information from the organizers; hence the Press conference and unveiling.

Addressing Newsmen at the Press conference, the Director General of the project, Obasi Praise Genesis said the idea was born out of the "Show Arochukwu to the world campaign" which he initiated nearly a decade ago. He said the campaign was important to reposition Arochukwu on the world map and continue to project and promote tourism and her cultural heritage. "It is important to note that Arochukwu plays a vital role in Igbo and Nigerian history and so we must continue to introduce programs that will preserve and promote our rich cultural assets which food of course is a quintessential part of. What we plan to do is to host the world on our food table, stage them to an irresistible culinary showoff and allow them to taste and savor the sweetness of Aro Okeigbo in 2 days.
We shall achieve this by the grace of God because we have assembled the finest brains in the game and they are poised to deliver the best experience" the DG explained to our correspondent.

The press conference also served as an opportunity to reel off activities for the event which included: Cooking Competition, Food exhibition, food tasting, Avia Nkwo Trade fair, cultural displays, sip and paint, Music, Dance, Comedy and lots more.

Some of the partners and sponsors also used the special occasion to announce their support to the project.

On the guest list of attendees were The Special Adviser to Abia State Governor on Internally Generated Revenue, Hon. Chimereze Okeigbo, Mazi Chukwuemeka Maduagwu, Mazi Ike Onu (Ugwu Aro), Capt. Kelechi Okoronkwo, Hon. Nnaemeka Oti, Mr. Roderick Ben, Nnamdi Urim and other dignitaries.

Ndaa ihe ị maara gbasara Nsibidi???

Nsibidi (also known as nsibiri,[2] nchibiddi or nchibiddy[3]) is a system of symbols or proto-writing developed in what is now the far South of Nigeria. They are classified as pictograms, though there have been suggestions that some are logograms or syllabograms.[4]

Nsibidi
Nsibidi
A symbol simply described as "Nsibidi name written" by Elphinstone Dayrell in 1911.[1]

Ideographic with pictographic and perhaps logographic elements
Time period
circa at least 400 AD (possibly earlier, 2000 BC) – present
Languages
Ekoid, Efik, Ibibio, Igbo.

Child systems
anaforuana (Cuba), veve (Haiti)
Use of the symbol system was first described in 1904.[4] Excavation of terracotta vessels, headrests, and anthropomorphic figurines from the Calabar region of southeast Nigeria, dated to roughly the 5th to 15th centuries, revealed a "an iconography readily comparable" to nsibidi.[5][6]

There are several hundred nsibidi symbols. They were once taught in a school to children.[7] Many of the signs deal with love affairs; those that deal with warfare and the sacred are kept secret.[7] Nsibidi is used on wall designs, calabashes, metals (such as bronze), leaves, swords, and tattoos.[2][8] It is primarily used by the Ekpe leopard society (also known as Ngbe or Egbo), a secret society that is found across Cross River State among the Ekoi, Efik, Igbo people, Bahumono and other nearby peoples.

Before the colonial era of Nigerian history, nsibidi was divided into a sacred version and a public, more decorative version which could be used by women.[8] Aspects of colonial rule such as Western education and Christian doctrine drastically reduced the number of nsibidi-literate people, leaving the secret society members as some of the last literate in the symbols.[9] Nsibidi was and is still a means of transmitting Ekpe symbolism. Nsibidi was transported to Cuba and Haiti via the Atlantic slave trade, where it developed into the anaforuana and veve symbols.[10][11]

The Aro people or Aros are an Igbo subgroup[1] that originated from the Arochukwu kingdom in present-day Abia state, Nigeria. The Aros can also be found in about 250 other settlements mostly in the Southeastern Nigeria and adjacent areas. The Aros today are classified as Eastern or Cross River Igbos because of their location, mixed origins, culture, and dialect. Their god, Chukwu Abiama, was a key factor in establishing the Aro Confederacy as a regional power in the Niger Delta and Southeastern Nigeria during the 18th and 19th centuries.
