‎The Biafran people are credited with developing Africa's first indigenous rocket, the Ogbunigwe, during the Nigerian Civil War. The Igbo ethnic group, who are a major component of the Biafran people, were central to this effort, with scientists and engineers from the Research and Production (RAP) Agency of Biafra designing and producing the weapon.

‎ The Ogbunigwe was developed to counter the Nigerian army's superior firepower and was designed, developed, mass-produced, and launched entirely in Africa.
‎The Ogbunigwe: This weapon was a type of indigenous rocket or "bomb" developed by the
‎Biafrans.
‎
‎The "tribe": The Biafran people were responsible for this innovation, and the Igbo were a primary group involved in the effort.
‎Context: The development occurred during the Nigerian Civil War (1967-1970) as a response to overwhelming odds and the need for a counter-offensive weapon.
‎
‎Significance: It was a groundbreaking achievement for the continent, marking the first time an indigenous rocket was wholly designed, developed, and mass-produced in Africa.
