Ahmad Musa unveils 9-point agenda for Kano Pillars
July 11, 2025

The newly appointed General Manager of Kano Pillars and current captain of the Super Eagles, Ahmed Musa, has unveiled a nine-point agenda aimed at restoring the club to its former glory.

Speaking to journalists on Thursday at the club’s home ground in Kano, Musa emphasised the importance of support and sponsorship, warning that without both, the team would continue to drift without success.

He assured supporters that measures were already being taken to avoid a repeat of last season’s failures, declaring, “We are going for the trophy this time around.”

“I come with a nine-point agenda for the club, to revive the glory of the club. That is why I urge Kano sports lovers to fully support us. I promise to do all I can to revive the club,” he said.

Acknowledging the dual challenge of serving as both General Manager and an active player, Musa admitted the role would not be easy. “I will give every player the chance to contribute fully. And with the support of our fans, we don’t need to depend on the government. With them and our jersey, we will have what it takes.”

He noted a marked improvement in the club’s online presence, saying the growing activity on social media since last week was a much-needed step forward. He expressed optimism that significant progress would soon follow.

“For now, we need the government to help stabilise the club, but alongside the management, we have already begun writing to several companies for sponsorship. Very soon, we will get it right,” Musa said.

Clarifying his dual role, Musa added: “And let me further clarify this position: inside the pitch, I’m a player, and the coach has the right to punish me. But outside the pitch, I’m the boss, so the clarity is there.”

‘No one can chase us out of Plateau, it’s our state too’ – Fulani youth leader vows

July 11, 2025
A Fulani youth leader in Plateau State, Hamisu Garba, has insisted that any attempt by natives to forcefully intimidate and chase them out of the state will not work as they are also citizens of the state.

Hamisu, who spoke to VP NEWS in an exclusive interview, said he and most Fulani people were born and raised in Plateau State and they do not know any other place apart from the state and as such, are from Plateau going by the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria which makes it clear that one can claim state of origin where he was born.

Hamisu wondered why some certain people were vehemently bent and concentrating efforts in seeing that Fulani people are exterminated and sent packing from Plateau, noting that such attempts will be resisted.

“I, like many other Fulani people, are also part of Plateau State and efforts, or should I say attempts to intimidate, frustrate and chase us out of Plateau will not work,” Hamisu said.

“I was born in Plateau State, I have my indigene form duly signed by both my district head and local government chairman which makes me a bona fide citizen of Plateau State.

“My parents were born in Plateau State and all my siblings were born and raised in Plateau State.

“All my life, I have lived in Plateau, I went to primary, secondary and university in Plateau State.

“The longest I have been out of Plateau was when I went for my youth service in Enugu State. So tell me, why would anyone say I am not from the state?

“So if anyone says we should leave Plateau, where do they want us to go? Is it a crime that we are Fulanis? Why are some people always profiling us as criminals and trouble makers?

“Yes, I agree that there are criminal elements among our people and just like our Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang said sometime ago, there are also criminals in other tribes.

“There are Mwaghavul criminals; there are Berom criminals; there are Tarok criminals; there are Ngas criminals; there are Irigwe criminals; there are Mupun criminals and there are Fulani criminals.

“But everyone is only concentrating on the Fulani, putting all efforts at demonizing and profiling all of us as criminals. I agree that some herders do go out of their way to cause problems but that does not mean all of them do that.

“I can tell you that most of the so-called bandits who attack some communities in the state are not only Fulani people.

“From our investigations, we have found out that there are even the natives among them who are recruited and paid.

“It will interest you to know that some natives are paid as little as N20,000 to provide information on their communities.

“So are those ones Fulani people as well? We have been living in peace for years. I grew up in our village rearing our cattle, playing with our neighbours, visiting them during Christmas and Easter, and they also visited us during Sallah and we ate together, played football together and some of our older uncles and aunties were married to the natives.

“We all lived in peace but I don’t know where and when the battle line was drawn and all of a sudden, the Fulani people became an endangered species that must be exterminated and chased out of Plateau State.

“But I dare say such will not work. No one, and I repeat, no one can chase us out of Plateau State.

“We as youth leaders have been engaging our people and educating them to live peacefully with others. We have been advocating for peaceful coexistence and we expect other tribes to do the same thing instead of putting all their efforts at demonizing us and putting all criminal acts in the state at our doorstep.

“Like I said earlier, not all Fulani people are criminals and bandits.

“We also have criminals in other tribes as well and everyone knows this. We just want to be left alone,” Hamisu stated.

WAFCON 2024: Ihezuo powers Super Falcons into quarter-finals

July 11, 2025

Substitute, Chiwendu Ihezuo scored the winning goal as the Super Falcons secured a place in the quarter-finals at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations following a 1-0 win over Botswana

Both teams battled for control in the opening exchanges with the Super Falcons edging possession.

Botswana had a couple of shots outside the box without real pe*******on.

The first chance of the game fell to Ashleigh Plumptre in the 23rd minute.

The left-back was set up by Toni Payne but her effort went off target.

Nigeria continued piling pressure on the Botswana defence, and almost took the lead through Payne nine minutes before the break, but the Everton midfielder failed to direct her shot on target.

Super Falcons head coach, Justine Madugu made three substitutions after the break with Esther Okoronkwo, Christy Ucheibe, and Ihezuo replacing Asisat Oshoala, Payne, and Babajide.

Nigeria struggled to breakdown the Mares defence with Jennifer Echegini coming close 12 minutes from time.

The breakthrough came on the dot of 90 minutes, with Ihezuo sliding home Okoronkwo’s cross.

Missing N210tn: Again, NNPCL GMD Ojulari snubs Nigerian Senate

July 10, 2025

The Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Bayo Ojulari, has again snubbed the Nigerian Senate Committee on Public Accounts, despite a 10-day ultimatum issued to him over unaccounted funds totalling N210 trillion.

However, the NNPCL GCEO sent representatives to the hearing on Thursday, who the committee declined to engage.

The committee chaired by Aliyu Wadada insisted that only the group’s chief himself must appear to address the 11 critical financial queries raised in the company’s audited statements between 2017 and 2023.

The lawmakers described Ojulari’s continued absence as a direct attack on the authority of the National Assembly and a breach of its oversight responsibilities.

Senator Wadada, therefore, warned that the Senate would not tolerate further disregard and vowed to issue a new date for the NNPCL GCEO to appear in person.

Recall that the Nigerian Senate had issued NNPCL management an ultimatum to appear before it.

However, Chief Financial Officer of NNPCL, Dapo Segun, had earlier explained that the state-owned company’s management had a retreat, which was the reason they did not appear before the Senate Committee.

2027 too early to discuss – House of Reps member, Manu Soro

July 10, 2025

A member of the House of Representatives for Darazo-Ganjuwa Federal Constituency in Bauchi, Mansur Manu Soro, has said it was too early to extensively discuss the 2027 ambitions and agitations.

The federal lawmaker made this statement on Thursday, during an interaction with a group of journalists in Bauchi.

He insisted on being committed to ending his tenure and achieving set goals.

“For now I am more concerned with completing my tenure and achieving the target of passing my legislative bills, and operationalizing the University I facilitated for my people in Soro,” he said.

He added, “I am focused on providing my legacy schools and clinics with sustainable means of income in order to sustain their operations beyond my stay in office.

“My major concern now is how to improve the quality of human lives in my constituency in terms of quality education, healthcare services delivery and improved agriculture.”

He emphasized that the people of Darazo-Ganjuwa Federal Constituency deserve improved and impactful representation, noting that they have been neglected in the past due to inadequate representation.

“Since I was elected to represent the Constituency, I have ensured that I stayed close to the people to know what they need. So far, I have done my best and the people are happy, you can go round to see for yourselves.”

He highlighted that, during his role as a federal lawmaker, he is complementing the efforts of the state government under Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed to enhance the living standards of the people in the state.

The Rep member revealed that he has been able to sponsor 10 out of the 87 prioritised constitutional bills for public hearings organised by the House.

He explained that the bills are designed to promote good governance and a people-centered democracy, with a strong emphasis on the well being and welfare of Nigerians across all levels.

The federal lawmaker assured his supporters and all the people of Darazo-Ganjuwa Federal Constituency that for as long as he remains in politics, his priority will continue to be providing effective and impactful representation.

He called on the people of his Darazo-Ganjuwa Federal Constituency to turn out in large numbers for the constitutional amendment public hearing so they can actively contribute and make their voices heard in shaping the new constitution.

Club World Cup: I’m scared for them – Leboeuf predicts Chelsea vs PSG final

July 10, 2025

Former France defender, Frank Leboeuf, has said he is scared for the young squad of Chelsea, as they prepare to play Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup final.

The Blues beat Fluminense 2-0 to book their spot, while PSG hammered Real Madrid 4-0 on Wednesday night.

Leboeuf, speaking with ESPN, admitted it is hard to be optimistic for his former club as they face up against the Champions League winner.

“I try to be optimistic for Chelsea, but according to what I’ve seen from both clubs, it’s hard for me not to predict that any team which plays against PSG, will not lose 3-0 or 4-0.

That’s what it is. And I’m scared for the young boys of Chelsea, because that could be a lesson.

“Will it be a good lesson or a bad one? I don’t know.”

Transfer: Osimhen will regret not joining Man Utd, Arsenal – Oliseh

July 9, 2025

Former Super Eagles head coach, Sunday Oliseh, has advised Victor Osimhen that his best destination when he leaves Napoli is to “find his way to the Premier League”.

According to Oliseh, the 26-year-old will regret not joining top English clubs like Arsenal and Manchester United.

Osimhen is on the verge of a permanent move to Galatasaray, the club where he spent the entire 2024/2025 season on loan.

The Turkish giants have already offered him a three-year deal and are working to strike an agreement with Napoli.

“Victor Osimhen is at a very delicate crossroad,” Oliseh wrote on X.

“He needs to find his way to the Premier League in a hurry, or he risks so much regret!

“Man. United and Arsenal need this player if only…”
