Why is the WorldWar II more famous compared to WorldWar I?
The most obvious difference was the death toll.
World War I shocked the world. About 16,000,000 people died.
They called it “The Great War”. Some referred to it as “the war to end all wars.”
It was the first major conflict where more deaths were caused by soldiers killing each other than by disease.
It was scary. New technology meant people could kill each other with machine guns, chemicals, airplanes, submarines, and tanks.
But World War II was on a whole other level.
Around 80,000,000 people died in WWII.
Five times as much as WWI.
There was genocide, disease, mass starvation, and nuclear bombs.
