Many tend to focus on Catelyn Stark's initial resentment towards Jon Snow, but often overlooked is her admission to Talisa about the deep regret she carried.
When Jon was just a child, Catelyn prayed for his demise, and he fell seriously ill with the pox, teetering on the edge of death. In that desperate moment, she made a heartfelt vow that if he survived, she would embrace him as her own, raise him with love, and grant him the cherished Stark name.
However, the weight of her promise proved too burdensome to fulfill. After the death of her husband Ned, with Sansa held captive, Arya missing, and Robb embroiled in war, Catelyn felt as though the gods were punishing her for her unkept pledge.
The tragic consequences of this internal turmoil led to chaos and division within the Stark family. In truth, it's a profoundly somber tale that underscores the depth of Catelyn's remorse as her life neared its end.
