Jealousy, Assumptions,
Today, I want to share a story that left me speechlessāand I believe many of you will have something to say about it too. Please read to the end and help us answer the question that now lingers in the airā¦
In a quiet corner of Africa, lived a married coupleletās call them Amaka and Chuka. To outsiders, they seemed fine, but behind closed doors, the story was different.
Chuka had a dangerous patternāhe constantly accused Amaka of being unfaithful, even though he never caught her with anyone. No proof. Just jealousy, suspicion, and control.
Amaka, on the other hand, stayed loyal. Quiet. Enduring. She kept her head down, even while nursing her dream: to travel to Canada for her masterās degree.
Then came the turning point.
One afternoon, a young man knocked on their door. Amaka opened it to find a stranger claiming to be her cousināa relative she barely knew or remembered. He said he was just visiting from abroad and had been tracing his family roots.
As they stood by the door, trying to confirm each other's identity, Chuka came home.
He didnāt ask questions. He didnāt wait.
To him, this was the āproofā he had been craving. The āevidenceā that fed his insecurity.
Amaka tried calling a relative to verify the cousinās identity, but before she could even finish dialing, Chuka stormed out with a hammer in his hand.
What happened next?
He attacked the young man, who ran for his life. But Chuka chased him down and struck him violently, leaving him with severe head and rib injuries.
The truth?
That man was Amakaās first cousin, who had just returned from abroad and wanted to reconnect with his family.
Nowā¦
Chuka is on the run. The police are after him for attempted murder.
Amaka is in shock. Her cousin is in the hospital, still not responding to treatment.
And just a few days ago, Amakaās visa was grantedāthe dream she had held onto for so long was finally within reach.
But now, her heart is heavy. Should she leave the country? Should she stay to support her cousin in the hospital? Should she wait for Chuka to be found?
Now over to you, my people:
What can you do if you were in Amakaās shoes?
Your dreams are waitingābut so is your wounded cousin.
Would you leave? Or would you stay?
Letās talk in the comments.
