The verdict of the apex court yesterday on Edo State election petition came as a surprise despite the wantom evidence of irregularities and manipulations that took place in the 21st September ,2024 Edo governorship election.

The judiciary which ought to be the last hope of the common man is now the enemy of the common man. Nigerians have lost interest in the justice system due to the injustice that are being carried out by lawyers and judges of the arm of government.

Edo state governorship election was marred with so much electoral malpractices with evidence to show. This case would have been the best spotlight for the judiciary to redeem their image but they have succeeded in rubbing it further in the mud of corruption.

The judgement came as a shock knowing fully well that the people had believed that the judiciary would do justice to the case rather reverse is the case. The Supreme Court has helped to further plunge Nigeria into one party system through her judgment where the voices of the opposition will be silenced.

For a better Nigeria to emerge ,our Judiciary system must be reformed as well as our electoral institution that has become a tool in the hands of the few in this country. In order to ensure quick delivery of good dividend of democracy, great efforts must be invested into the overhauling for all institutions that are saddle with the responsibility within the electoral system to work towards building the future of the people come 2027.

To all PDP faithful,this is not the time to cast stones on one another but the best time to unite. Edo State Social Media Force, being the leading and frontline Social Media Influencers body in the state will never change nor move aimlessly to any party. We will do all within our reach to keep the party today. This is the time for the leadership and other members of the party to jettison the idea of decamping to other party.

Without being told, PDP platform has given many the opportunity to became whom they are today in the society where millionaires have emerged at various times. We are appealing to People like Former Governor Godwin Obaseki, Dr Asue Ighodalo, Barrister Osarodion Ogie, Pa Etose Dickson Imasogie, Hon. Pascal Ugbome, Chief Lucky Igbinedion, Hon. Harrison Omangbon and many other notable leaders of this party who are the leading leaders of this party to continue surviving the party with leadership quality that brings unity, unwavering commitment and dedication for the progress in our party ahead of 2027 . The party needs to be funded for meetings and other activities to be running. You mustn't be at all meetings but your financial obligations will do much.

Our leaders should try and be funding meetings at the grassroot, support the media on a monthly basis because without the media, most publications and information die a natural death. We appeal to all our leaders to fund the party from time to time rather than allowing it to decay.

What has happened from the judiciary system yesterday should not kill our political spirit, though shocking and painful. We use this medium to salute the doggedness of Dr Asue and Barrister Ogie who fought this case to the highest level. ______ There Shall not be inappropriate or unwarranted interference with the Judiciary process, nor shall Judicial decisions by the court be subject to revision.

______ Your decisions on Edo gubernatorial election court case would determine if truly there is still an integrity and dignity in the Judiciary System.

As the Judgement reserved to a date to be communicated to both parties, the leading Social Media influencers body in Edo State, "Edo State Social Media Force" has reminded the Judiciary of their basic principles on the independence of theirs to foster transparency and accountability within the Judiciary as the good people of Edo state, Nigerians and international communities awaits the recovery of PDP stolen mandate in September 21st , 2024.

95% of Nigerians already believes that corruption is hampering the delivery of justice in Nigeria as the people perceive the Judiciary as the most corrupt public service in Nigeria, and such narrative or impressions can be change or diverted if the supreme Court rewrite the wrong of the judgment from the tribunal and appeal Court in favor of the rightful owner or winner of the gubernatorial election.

According to one of the role of the independence of the Judiciary, "The judiciary shall decide matters before them impartially, on the basis of facts and in accordance with the law, without any restrictions, improper influences, inducements, pressures, threats or interferences, direct or indirect, from any quarter or for any reason". On this ground, we call on the supreme Court judges to resist any form of directives from the ruling government under APC that will subvert the will of the people or r**e of our democracy as we are fully aware of the undemocratic leadership of President Bola Amhed Tinubu and the APC.

Before now, Judiciary has been the hope of Common Man, and for we to rebuild such hope among Nigerians, we must be ready to rewrite the wrong for transparency and accountability.

*Independence of the judiciary;*
(1) The independence of the judiciary shall be guaranteed by the State and enshrined in the Constitution or the law of the country. It is the duty of all governmental and other institutions to respect and observe the independence of the judiciary.

(2) The judiciary shall decide matters before them impartially, on the basis of facts and in accordance with the law, without any restrictions, improper influences, inducements, pressures, threats or interferences, direct or indirect, from any quarter or for any reason.

(3) The judiciary shall have jurisdiction over all issues of a judicial nature and shall have exclusive authority to decide whether an issue submitted for its decision is within its competence as defined by law.

(4) There shall not be any inappropriate or unwarranted interference with the judicial process, nor shall judicial decisions by the courts be subject to revision. This principle is without prejudice to judicial review or to mitigation or commutation by competent authorities of sentences imposed by the judiciary, in accordance with the law.

(5) Everyone shall have the right to be tried by ordinary courts or tribunals using established legal procedures. Tribunals that do not use the duly established procedures of the legal process shall not be created to displace the jurisdiction belonging to the ordinary courts or judicial tribunals.

(6) The principle of the independence of the judiciary entitles and requires the judiciary to ensure that judicial proceedings are conducted fairly and that the rights of the parties are respected.

(7) It is the duty of each Member State to provide adequate resources to enable the judiciary to properly perform its functions.

On the above ground of the role of independence of the Judiciary, we are hoping again that justice will prevail over the wrong as the PDP gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo and Mr osarodion ogie Esq have filed and presented all the relevant documentary evidence before the apex court which was for hearing today and judgment reserved to later date that will be communicated to both parties.

We urge all PDP members and well meaning Nigerians to keep praying for the recovery of our stolen mandate as to strengthen our democracy, accountability, integrity and dignity in our Judiciary system.

Hopefully, the Supreme Court is yet to rewrite the wrong of the tribunal and appeal Court judgment for the betterment of all and Sundry.

The event which kick started at Eghosa Orphanages Home, Gapiona Avenue, G.R.A Benin City. Witnessed Dignitaries from all walks of life. Former Deputy Governor His Excellency Mike Ogiadomhe, Hon. Bankole Balogun(Chairman Edo State Board of Internal Revenue), Hon Moses Omo Ikiroda, Pastors Osagie Ize-iyamu, Hon Blessing Agbebaku, Speaker EDHA Clergymen as well as Numerous faith based bodies joined the celebrants to mark his birthday with the orphans.

Deacon Presley Asemota, went down memory lane to eulogise the celebrant, he describe Hon Pascal ugbome as a selfless being who love seen others succeed. a blessing to Mankind.

On her part, Deacon(Mrs) Odia describe Hon Ugbome as a born helper Who has trained several orphans up to the University level. A Compassionate and a willing tools for the work of God.

His Excellency Mike Ogiadomhe describe the celebrant as a clean man, he called him a liberator and a champion of Democracy.

Justice Mrs Zakawanu Garba, said it's only Hon Pascal Ugbome that Stood with the family of the former Speaker after his Demise in 2020. She prayed for him to achieve more greater height in life.

He called on the guest to make donations towards achieving the set goals.

He said he choose The Orphanage to partner with Christ Embassy to Cater for the Children of the less privileges. He also donated sum of 1 million naira to Eghosa Orphanage Home. He equally sponsor orphanage program under Christ Embassy at the cost of 3.5 million.

PUBLIC STATEMENT ON OKPEBHOLO’S VIOLATION OF THE LAW ON EDO’S LOCAL GOVERNMENT STRUCTURE

We have read the statement credited to the Attorney General of Edo State, Samson Osagie, in which he attempted to refute our call on the Federal Government to follow the Constitution and apply the Supreme Court Judgment in the Local Government Autonomy case of AG, Federation V. AG Abia and 35 others, by withholding the allocation due to the Local Government Councils of Edo State which are being chaired by Senator Monday Okpebholo’s appointees rather than the duly elected Chairmen. Being in contempt of the Supreme Court - the Apex Court of the land, we also called on the Honourable Attorney General of the Federation to commence contempt proceedings against the Edo State officials who are in disobedience of the Court Orders.

We are rather surprised that Samson Osagie, who was recently reinstated from his suspension as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, will refer to our demand as “unusual and uninformed.” Our position tallies with, and reechoes what the Honourable Attorney General of the Federation and Minister for Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN stated in December, 2024 that the purported suspension of the elected Local Government Chairmen in Edo is “illegal and unconstitutional,” and was unequivocal that it is in breach of the Supreme Court Judgment of July 11, 2024. Is the Attorney General of the Federation also uninformed?

There is unanimity amongst lawyers and Judges that this is the correct position of the law. Committal for disobedience of any Court Order is a follow up action for anyone in disobedience. We expect Osagie to know this as it is elementary. One shudders at the kind of legal advice being offered to the Governor if the Attorney General can make such legal gaffes in his public Statements.

His attempt to hoodwink the public by stating that the elected members are still in place will not fly. Such misinformation and alternative facts are known only to him and his ilk in their alternative universe. Pray, Osagie, a few posers for you: Who is the Chairman, substantive or acting, of Oredo Local Government?
Under what law, power, or authority were the Chairmen of the Councils suspended or removed?
What law gives the State Assembly power to suspend or remove Council Chairmen?
We note the reference to a so-called report by a kangaroo group of APC members and stalwarts constituted by Okpebholo to witch hunt the elected Local Government officials. Under what law was this band of aggrieved busybodies set up?

Is it not ironic that Samson Osagie, should refer to the Chairmen as “undergoing some inquisition arising from complaints of sleaze and corruption” when he had also been accused of “grave official financial infraction” and was only recently recalled following a secret investigation that was devoid of transparency or openness?
We urge the recently recalled Attorney General to advise the Governor in accordance with the law, which, unfortunately, he has not displayed deep knowledge and understanding of. If, as he has shown that he is not too conversant with it, he should take a cue from or consult the learned Attorney General of the Federation.

Also for the records and for the sake of posterity, we should point out that in extolling the virtues and benefits of the Citizens Mediation Centre and the Citizen Rights Department, Osagie failed to mention that both, along with many other great justice sector initiatives in Edo, are products of the Godwin Obaseki Administration, which also established the Citizens Rights and Dispute Resolution Agency, which the APC government has failed to constitute in the justice sector. Others in the justice sector which lie comatose include the Edo Correctional Service, Edo Migration Agency and the Corona System Law, waiting for immediate executive action by the Attorney General and his principal, the Governor. They both should pay heed to these and the general insecurity and near breakdown of law and order in many parts of the State, rather than in expending energy in their futile attempts to mislead and misinform the public.

It is essential to emphasize that the claims by Osagie that Okpebholo has not violated any laws related to local government structure in Edo State are misleading and inaccurate.
The suspension of elected Council Chairmen and Vice Chairmen by the Edo State House of Assembly is a clear violation of the Constitution and the principles of democracy. The PDP will not stand idly by while the APC-led government in Edo State continues to undermine the rule of law and disregard the rights of the people.

We reiterate our call for the Federal Government to withhold statutory allocations to Edo State Councils until the democratically elected council Chairmen and Vice Chairmen are reinstated. We also demand that the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice takes immediate action to address this gross injustice.

The people of Edo State deserve better than a government that disregards the Constitution and disrespects the democratic process. We will continue to stand up for the rights of the people and fight against any attempt to undermine democracy in our state.

The Edo State government's claim to be committed to strengthening justice administration rings hollow when viewed against the backdrop of its recent actions. The suspension of democratically elected Local Government Chairmen and Vice Chairmen, despite the Supreme Court's clear ruling on local government autonomy, is a blatant disregard for the rule of law.
Rather than strengthening justice administration, the Edo State government's actions demonstrate a disturbing disregard for the democratic process and the rule of law. The people of Edo State deserve better than a government that prioritizes political expediency over justice and democracy.

Rather than acknowledging and addressing these concerns, Osagie's statement attempts to deflect criticism and shift the focus to an ongoing inquisition. This tactic does not absolve the governor of his responsibility to uphold the law and respect the democratic process.

The people of Edo State deserve transparency, accountability, and a commitment to democratic principles. We will continue to hold the Governor accountable for his actions and ensure that the rights of the people are protected.

The Edo State government's claim that the democratically elected members and functionaries of local government councils are still in place, despite the suspension of chairmen and vice chairmen, is misleading. The suspension itself is a violation of the Constitution and the principles of democracy.

The government's argument that the PDP is over-stretching the verdict of the Supreme Court is unfounded. The Supreme Court's ruling on local government autonomy is clear, and the Edo State government's actions undermine this autonomy.
The PDP's call for a stoppage of allocations to councils is not ironic, as the government claims.
In conclusion, the Edo State government's claims are unfounded, and their actions have violated the Constitution and the principles of democracy. The PDP's call for a stoppage of allocations to councils is a necessary step to ensure that the democratic process is respected. The Attorney General who should know this, should advice the State Government accordingly.
