SUBJECT: PETITION AGAINST POLITICAL MARGINALIZATION OF OBOKOFIA COMMUNITY - APPEAL FOR ZONING OF EXECUTIVE VICE CHAIRMANSHIP POSITION TO OBOKOFIA

Sir,

We, the members of Obokofia Political Think Tank, acting on behalf of the entire people of Obokofia Community in Egbema Ward C, most respectfully bring to your attention our long-standing political marginalization and hereby make a passionate appeal.

1.0 THE FACTS:

In Egbema Clan, almost all communities have at one time or the other produced one or more of the following positions since 1999 till date:

a) Executive Chairman of LGA
b) Member, House of Representatives
c) Member, House of Assembly
d) Executive Vice Chairman of LGA
e) Transition Committee (TC) Chairman
f) Special Advisers / Senior Special Assistants (SALADS/SASAs)
g) Honourable Commissioner
h) Member, ISOPADEC Board
i) Coordinator, Development Centre

2.0 OBOKOFIA'S PLIGHT:

Sadly, Obokofia Community with Six (6) Polling Units and the highest voting strength in Egbema Ward C, has NOT benefited from ANY of the above mentioned positions from 1999 till date. We have been completely marginalized and left out in the political sharing formula of Egbema and Ohaji/Egbema at large.

3.0 OUR LOYALTY TO APC:

Despite this marginalization, Obokofia has remained loyal to the All Progressives Congress (APC). In the last Governorship Election, APC won in ALL the Six (6) Polling Units in Obokofia Community. We have continued to deliver block votes to the party.

4.0 OUR HUMBLE PRAYER:

We are aware that in the next dispensation, the Executive Chairmanship position will go to Ohaji while Egbema will produce the House of Assembly seat.

In the spirit of equity, fairness, justice and inclusiveness, and to give Obokofia a sense of belonging, we most humbly and passionately APPEAL to the Leadership of APC Ohaji/Egbema to zone the position of EXECUTIVE VICE CHAIRMANSHIP OF OHAJI/EGBEMA LGA TO OBOKOFIA COMMUNITY.

This will correct the historical injustice against Obokofia, strengthen the party in Ward C, and reward our loyalty and voting strength.

We trust in your fatherly and just leadership to consider our request favourably.

Yours faithfully,

For: OBOKOFIA POLITICAL THINK TANK

CC:

1. His Excellency, Sen. Hope Uzodimma, Executive Governor, Imo State
2. The Apex Leader, APC, Ohaji/Egbema LGA
3. The Chairman, Apex Leadership Forum, APC Ohaji/Egbema LGA
4. The Executive Chairman, Ohaji/Egbema LGA
5. The Member, Imo State House of Assembly, Representing Ohaji/Egbema State Constituency

It was a gathering of who is who in Imo politics yesterday, as Hon. Chief Gideon Meffor, Igirigi Oloshi, Special Adviser to the Governor on Palm Plantations in Imo State, and Board Member HYPREP hosted his people for the grand Igwaji Mgbara Festival 2026.

The festival received a huge boost as former Minister of State for Education and political colossus, Rt Hon. Goodluck Nana Opiah, Hon. Eugene Dibiagwu Member representing Ohaji-Egbema/Oguta/Oru West Federal Constituency, joined the celebration alongside other political heavyweights from across Ohaji/Egbema, Imo and Rivers States.

It was a festival of unity, love, and culture — with elders, women, youths, and political leaders dancing, praying, and thanking God for life, harvest, and blessings upon Mgbara Community.

This massive turnout further proves that Hon. Chief Meffor is a man who loves his people and his people love him back. A grassroots leader with deep respect for tradition and strong political goodwill.

May Igwaji bring peace, progress, and development to Mgbara people.

GPIL Unveils Ambitious Industrial Blueprint Featuring Africa's Largest Petrochemical Plant in Ohaji/Egbema | ohajinewscentral

Energy and infrastructure development firm Gulf Power Innovation Limited (GPIL) has unveiled an expansive industrial road map aimed at anchoring a multi-billion dollar industrial ecosystem in the gas rich Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State.

At the center of the company’s recent executive presentation is a proposed mega petrochemical plant. Touted by GPIL as potentially Africa's largest petrochemical facility, the plant is designed with an initial processing capacity of 220 million standard cubic feet (MMSCF) of natural gas per day.

The proposed facility intends to leverage Imo State's vast, concentrated natural gas reserves to manufacture essential polymers, chemicals, and industrial feedstock. According to local economic analysts, the move represents a critical shift from simple resource extraction to building a fully integrated value chain.

The company is also exploring the development of a maritime route connecting local waterways directly toward the Atlantic Ocean through the Oguta-Orashi River Deep Water Corridor. The proposed framework includes a dedicated port and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) facility to handle large scale exports of both LNG and processed petrochemical products. ohajinewscentral

The master plan stretches into electrical infrastructure, proposing a transformer and electrical cable manufacturing hub in Ukwuorji, Imo State. This facility is designed to support GPIL's broader power ambition to eventually generate and transmit up to 1,000 megawatts (MW) of electricity into the Nigerian national grid.

The project announcement comes amid a broader energy push in the region.

Ohaji/Egbema has increasingly become the center of Nigeria's gas utilization drive, already hosting massive joint venture operations like the NNPC/Seplat ANOH Gas Processing Plant. ohajinewscentral

Company representatives noted that discussions regarding regulatory framework alignments and asset validation are ongoing, positioning the project as a monumental step toward regional industrial autonomy.

Indorama Announces $3 Billion Expansion Plan Following ANOH Gas Supply Agreement

Indorama Eleme Petrochemical Company has unveiled an ambitious $3 billion expansion roadmap following its landmark 16-year Gas Sale Agreement with Renaissance Africa Energy and its partner, Seplat Energy.

Under the agreement, up to 60 million standard cubic feet of natural gas per day (MMscf/d) will be supplied from the ANOH Gas Plant in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State directly to Indorama’s Eleme facility in Rivers State.

The expanded gas supply is expected to strengthen Indorama’s operations and support the development of its New Gas Terminal and Treatment Complex (Gas Terminal 3), which is scheduled to break ground in Q4 2026.

The company also receives gas from the Awaza fields in Abia State through the NOPL and OB3 pipeline networks, further diversifying its gas supply sources.

This development highlights the growing importance of Ohaji/Egbema’s ANOH Gas Plant in powering Nigeria’s industrial and petrochemical expansion, while strengthening connections between Imo, Abia and Rivers states.
