Africa’s Youngest Cable Manufacturer, John Ezeobi, Nominated as Sun Industrialist of the Year

The Management and Staff of the John Zobis Group, over the week, received a high-powered delegation from The Sun newspaper, led by the Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief, Mr. Onuoha Ukeh, who visited the company to formally present a notification and award nomination letter announcing Mr. John Ezeobi as winner of The Sun Industrialist of the Year Award 2025.

The team explained that Ezeobi’s nomination followed weeks of rigorous deliberation by the Board of Editors, who considered his rise from a young trader to Africa’s youngest electrical cable manufacturer as an inspiring story of resilience, innovation, and measurable impact on national development. They noted that his name has become synonymous with the production of high-quality electrical cables widely regarded for their reliability in residential, industrial, and commercial use.

For Ezeobi, the recognition goes beyond personal achievement, representing an affirmation of the hard work of his staff, the loyalty of his customers, and the faith of his host communities. He described the nomination as both humbling and motivating, adding that it reinforces his long-standing belief that excellence, consistency, and integrity remain the surest pathways to sustainable growth in Nigeria’s manufacturing sector.

At just 41, Ezeobi is not only Africa’s youngest cable manufacturer but also the youngest person ever to win the Industrialist of the Year Award, a category previously dominated by older industrial giants. Past winners include Obi Ezeude of Beloxxi Biscuits and Chief Chika Emenike of Kotec Group, Tony Ezenna of Orange Drugs —respected figures whose work transformed their respective industries.

His nomination letter, presented during the visit, highlighted his expansive business conglomerate, the John Zobis Group, which includes Zobis Electrical Nigeria Ltd., John Zobis Oil and Gas Nigeria Ltd., JZ Bulbs Company Nigeria Ltd., Zobis Cable Nigeria Ltd., and John Zobis Company Nigeria Ltd., which are all key players in manufacturing, energy, distribution of genuine electrical products, and construction.

The editors further commended the scale and sophistication of Zobis Electrical Wires and Cable Limited, describing it as a major hub of skilled workers, technicians, and engineers producing internationally certified electrical cables. The factory, situated on more than 400 plots at Okoti-Odekpe in Anambra State, is regarded as one of the largest individual-owned manufacturing facilities in the state, boasting of corporate offices, warehouses, factories, staff quarters, and a hospital currently under construction.

They also noted that the company ranks among the top 20 most successful and visible firms in Anambra State in terms of staff strength, capital investment, production capacity, and corporate social responsibility. Ezeobi’s expansion drive, which stretches across Onitsha, Abuja, Aba, Rivers State, and Lagos, was also cited as one of the strongest indicators of his growing influence in the industrial landscape.

Beyond business, Ezeobi’s philanthropic footprint contributed significantly to his nomination and selection for the award. He has supported emerging entrepreneurs, built homes for low-income families, constructed roads in his host community, and upgraded educational facilities, further confirming his commitment to human and community development. His ongoing investment in a 12-floor commercial mall designed as a one-stop-shop for various electrical and consumer products was also acknowledged as a bold contribution to commerce and job creation.

The Sun delegation noted that Ezeobi represents the new face of Nigerian industrialization, proving to be youthful, ambitious, socially conscious, and committed to building globally competitive enterprises. They expressed confidence that he is on track to becoming one of the largest industrial players in the country in the coming years.

He will be presented with the award on January 31, 2026, in Lagos, alongside winners in other categories such as Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah and Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, among others.

INEC, APGA Sabotaged Anambra South By-Election - ADC Senatorial Candidat, Amamgbo

Barr. Donald Chidi Amamgbo, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for the Anambra South Senatorial by-election, has come hard on INEC over what he described as "systemic sabotage" and deliberate disenfranchisement during the just concluded by-election in Anambra State.

In a press conference at Awka, Amamgbo alleged that INEC withheld tags for ADC's ward and local government collation agents, effectively crippling the party's ability to defend its votes.

He also claimed that INEC circulated a doctored list of polling agents in Ihiala, which differed from the authentic list submitted by ADC.

Amamgbo described the election as a "carefully orchestrated charade" designed to undermine the credibility of the process.

He criticized Governor Charles Soludo's statement that Labour and ADC parties are "dead" in Anambra, suggesting that the governor's party, APGA, was behind the alleged sabotage.

The ADC candidate emphasized that the people of Anambra South deserve an independent voice in the Senate, not a puppet senator controlled by Governor Soludo.

He called for a thorough review of the electoral process, institutional reforms within INEC, and an end to the culture of collusion between political parties and electoral officials.

Amamgbo vowed to continue speaking out against attempts to undermine democracy and restore faith in the ballot.

Parts of Amamgbo's speech reads:

"Elections are meant to be the ultimate expression of the people’s will. Instead, what we witnessed was a carefully orchestrated charade designed to obfuscate, suffocate and decimate the people’s voice and choice. Ultimately undermining the credibility of the process.

"On the eve of the elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) deliberately withheld the tags for our ward and local government collation agents, effectively crippling ADC’s ability to defend the votes of our people at all critical stages of collation. Why one might ask? The answer is the infantile attempt to disillusion and debase ADC the primary opposition party in Nigeria. Look no further than the loquacious and bombastic statement of Professor Charles Soludo that “Labor and ADC parties are dead in Anambra”. If that was so then Anambra South is an electoral crime scene and Professor Soludo election malfeasance is directly to blame.

"In Ihiala, INEC went further by circulating a doctored list of polling agents that did not correspond with the authentic list duly submitted by our party and uploaded on the INEC portal. These are not mistakes. They are not clerical oversights. They are acts of sabotage.

"I ask: How can an election be free and fair when one party is denied collation agents? That is like asking a team to play football blindfolded while the referee looks the other way.

"This sabotage was not random. It was a deliberate and deviant orchestration by the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) a political “Cult” in Anambra.

"Very devastating is the fact that APGA government has normalised vote buying knowing fully well that the hungry exploited citizens of Anambra state will collect money to vote just to survive another day.

"At the centre of this charade is a Senator-elect tethered to the control of Governor Charles Soludo. This is not democracy. This is puppetry".

The Rising Kidney Disease In Nigeria Especially In The Southeast

The first step to take to find out the cause of the rising kidney disease in Nigeria, especially in Igboland, is to discuss with patients the things they have consumed since the last 2 years or so to find out the common foods and drinks they had in common.

Laboratory examination of such foods should be carried out to know whether they were intentionally p0isoned by anyone or accidentally.

We should discard the motion that these rampant cases of kidney disease are as a result of the consumption of hard drvgs and drinks because most victims have confessed never to have taken them in their lives.

I suspect bi0logical wārfare. It is not new in history. It was used during the First World Wār.

Unfortunately, we lack a government that can verify this.

In the absence of a functioning government, you can help yourself if you live in Nigeria, especially in the Southeast, where the cases seem to be more, by cooking properly before you eat. Unfortunately, some poisons are heat resistant.

We call on groups to sponsor constant random laboratory tests of foods and drinks in the market so that we can find out where this is coming from.

Again, I suspect bi0logical wārfare. Some people might be intentionally p0isoning the food we buy from the market.
