The best way to store plantain if you want it to ripen gradually is by cutting into different bunches and storing at the fruit section of the fridge.

It will stop the ripening process until you need it, then you bring it out and leave it to ripen when needed.

There is also option to store the riped ones in the freezer. Cut into Desired shapes and store in a ziplock bag to freeze

Fry when still blocked and it will remain as fresh as ever or cook depending on what you want.

I prefer the first one

I no longer struggle to finish plantain whenever it ripes to avoid spoiling.

And I can still roast it unlike the freezed ones

As I sat at the junction waiting for someone to get me the stuff her husband sent to me through her and squeezing face because I was under the sun and she was wasting my time.

I saw this very heavily pregnant woman carrying her wares of almost 3 big bunches of plantain she is selling on her head.

She could barely even walk, yet she persisted.

I felt so sad that the so called head of the house who most times have nothing they bring to the table than money couldn’t do this one simple job.

It’s fair if she was in her shop or office but hawking under the sun with heavy wares is not a pleasant sight.

Women Should stop having unprotected s*x with broke men who doesn’t know what it is to be a husband and a father.

Who doesn’t know the implications of such risk for a heavily pregnant woman.

I watched her move on to sell her wares with so many thought on my mind.

I called on the girl selling water to buy from her, washed my hands and reapplied my sunscreen,

Then yet another woman was with her small baby with her body full of rash under the scorching sun with no umbrella.

The baby was crying.

She : please help me adjust this wrapper so I can tie her well

Me: okay. Nne this sun is much and making her uncomfortable, why didn’t you come out with an umbrella ?

She : Nothing

Me: it is harsh on her skin , probably part of the reason she has all these rashes on her body

She : she don come this world be say she has come, let her manage like we are managing

I was short of words to tell her anything again as I helped adjust her wrapper and watched them leave.

I don’t care if you want to or fall in love broke and with a broke fellow too

But try and brings kids only when you can provide adequately for them

Atleast the bare minimum.

And the woman I was waiting for came and I still have to complain because she didn’t bring eveything I asked them to bring.

Me : my BMI is overweight so I need to get it to normal, maybe loose like 10kg

She: but I can’t still see the weight

Me : I have a lot muscle and strong bones and fat here and there naa, all join

Obesity is a risk factor for alot of chronic diseases and you would be doing yourself you good if you reduce the risk that is within your power in acquiring some diseases.

Some diseases are prone to one just by their race or s*x even and you can’t do anything about those factors

It was observed that women who are obesed after BREAST CANCER diagnosis experienced improved positive outcome of their cancer treatment after they lost weight.

Exercise of about 30minutes 5X weekly decreases the chances of recurrence and reduces mortality by 13%

Apart from age, family history , your weight has a lot to play in getting some chronic illness.

If you can adopt healthy lifestyle, PlEASE do

EAT mostly 2/3 of plants products (fruits and vegetable ), 1/3 animal protein and EXERCISE 📌📌

I wonder what people do when they say they are in love and get married.

Do they even have conversations ?

Are they truthful and open to whoever they are with ?

Why do men hid and lie so much ?

How it is possible to hide that you are asthmatic from your spouse ?

Someone you have 3kids with?

For a sickness you need lifestyle modifications and a controlled environment to avoid triggers,

Yet you hid it

Is it fear of stigmatization?

Like it’s isn’t even HIV or hepatitis

Even if it is, you should let them know so they make informed decision to stay or leave you

Asthma isn’t even a communicable disease

Atleast you should have trusted them to an extent and let them know.

Maybe they would have helped you manage its symptoms and prevent worst case scenarios.

Back then in secondary school, I used to go home with the inhaler of a friend and come to school everyday with it incase she forgets hers at home and need it

And it sure was useful in emergence asthmatic attacks

No one deserve to die because of improper management of Asthma.

It’s part of the work we do at Asthma Awareness and Care Group

And you mustn’t be a pharmacist or in the medical profession to join.

Just have passion for Asthma management and alleviation of symptoms.
