Sir Paul Chukwuma Rises as YPP’s New National Leader in Abuja Shake-Up.

The Young Progressive Party has entered a new chapter with the unanimous election of Sir Paul Chukwuma as its National Leader. The decision, taken at the party’s 24th National Executive Committee meeting in Abuja, comes less than a month after Chukwuma’s strong showing in the Anambra governorship election, where he finished ahead of several established rivals.

His elevation marks a decisive shift for YPP, replacing the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah and signaling the party’s determination to project fresh leadership on the national stage.

The NEC also rolled out a wave of new appointments: Hon. Chigozie Gerald Udogu as Deputy National Secretary, Hajiya Nana Mahmoud as Deputy National Chairperson, Hon. Owoyombo Gbenga Solomon as Acting Youth Leader, Barr. Uche Levis as National Legal Adviser, Hon. Olatunbosun Abolarinwa as National Security Adviser, and Hon. Sani Darma as Zonal Chairman for the North West.

In a show of discipline, the NEC ratified the expulsion of Hon. Peter Uzokwe for anti-party activities — a move insiders say underscores YPP’s resolve to maintain unity and loyalty.

On national issues, the party welcomed General Christopher Musa’s appointment as Defence Minister but warned against any drift towards one-party dominance, casting itself as a defender of Nigeria’s democratic balance.

With Chukwuma at the helm, YPP is positioning itself for a louder, more assertive role in shaping the country’s political future.

SPUR OF THE MOMENT

Of November 8 , _Competency_And Zoning
By John Mokwugwo

All eyes are on Anambra as the State goes to the poll in less than a fortnight from now. A good number of persons are campaigning to occupy the Light House ( Anambra's Government House) from March 2026 in accordance with the Constitution of our country.
There are certain critical questions we must ask ourselves if we are interested in seeing our State shed off the toga of insecurity, hate, name-calling, hypocrisy and retrogression. Who is the best candidate who we should vote for the good of Anambra and her people? Why should we vote such a person! Should that preferred candidate be the incumbent governor? If yes, why should we toe that line ? If no, why should we jettison the principle of continuity ? Has zoning got any significant role to play in this coming election?
The questions can go on ad _infinitum !
But time is of the essence here. Besides, a lot has already been said and written about November 8.
The brutal truth is that candidate Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party ( YPP) is the best of all of them.
He is brilliant, energetic, young, urbane, objective, and above all humane, among several other positive qualities which he parades .
The tendency is for some people to pose the question: " why not allow the incumbent helmsman to complete eight years on the saddle?"
In fairness to him, he has tried to improve what he met on the ground. But the eight years are not his exclusive birth right. Though the Constitution allows him to remain in office for that length of time if he is lucky, there have been cases of people who did only four years .
But Barrister Sir Paul Chukwuma fits in better, everything considered . The overcharged atmosphere of enmity, indeed animosity which has completely ripped Anambra Royalty and the once respected Clergy of its revered respect must be contemplated here.
But wait a minute! Can anyone fathom a Government which is at the mercy of criminals? The primary purpose of government,Thomas Hobbes would state any day, is the provision of security of lives and property.
Inability to tackle this age-old governance challenge has remained the Achilles heel of the current managers of the State.
With fresh, young and a dynamic mindset, the author of Joy is coming has demonstrated through his deeds and words that he is as swift as he is sensitive and sensible, and a repository of contemporary principles and practice of Democracy.
Where there is no or poor power supply, he donates transformers and accessories and turns dark alleys and communities into property lit spaces ; he moves in tractors to clear previous impassable, treacherous road, offers scholarships to indigent students, etc.
And now the mother of propaganda devices aimed at scuttling his mission- the zoning question.
It is only the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA ) which has a non- formalised, rotational scheme which had in the past been defied by innumerable persons both within and outside the party.
Isn't defeatist and undemocratic to talk about zoning? The truth of the matter is that not only are other Parties not party to zoning, even APGA faithful, including the incumbent governor flouted it.
Fellow Anambrarians, we have said enough, let us now act right . Let us welcome Paul Chukwuma, the man who does not carry any baggage; the one who does not antagonize the Royalty, or the Church of God. Let us embrace the joy which is coming !

JOY is Coming

The Anambra State administration is sailing on a tide so dangerous that silence is no longer an option. What is unfolding must be investigated, unraveled, and confronted, or Ndi Anambra will rise, as history has shown, to demand answers that cannot be buried.

Let it be clear: this is not about politics. This is about the sanctity of truth, justice, and the right of Ndi Anambra to live in a state governed by accountability and transparency. I, Uzu Okagbue, Deputy Governorship Candidate of the YPP, state without hesitation that the two recent incidents shaking our state, the brutal assault and stripping of a corps member, and the cold-blooded shooting of a pregnant woman and other victims at the Onitsha Main Market, are now shrouded in a troubling fog of deceit.

Here is the puzzle: the individuals paraded by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security as suspects in these incidents do not match the accounts of the victims and eyewitnesses. In the assault of the corps member, witnesses confirm that a female assailant was among those who carried out the shameful act. Yet, the suspects in custody? All men. How does the government explain this glaring inconsistency?

And what of the market shooting? Ndi Anambra have not been formally told that the real killers of the pregnant woman are in custody. If the suspects are known, why is their identity not openly confirmed? If they are unknown, why the deafening silence?

The question now is simple: what is the State Government hiding? Why this eerie quiet around acts so brazenly committed in broad daylight before dozens of witnesses? Are we to believe that the Nigeria Police is complicit in shielding perpetrators, or worse still, that renegade groups unleashed on the streets of Anambra are acting under tacit approval?

If this government is not hiding a conspiracy against its own people, then let it speak. Let there be full disclosure, swiftly and transparently: just as quick as the press releases churned out by the State Government campaign organization headed by Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu on candidate’s credentials submitted to INEC. Anything less is complicity.

Until then, Ndi Anambra will not rest. We will continue to demand answers, for what is at stake is not only justice for victims but the very soul of our state.

Obiano awarded the Airport Road. Soludo abandoned it. 4 years wasted. Now same road is recycled as campaign bait.
Enough of APGA’s recycled promises.

Paul Chukwuma: Keeping the Hope Alive for Ndi Anambra

As the November gubernatorial election approaches, Ndi Anambra must resist one dangerous trap—the psychological manipulation that Governor Charles Soludo cannot be defeated, and that no opposition candidate has the capacity to unseat him. This narrative is nothing more than a creation of Soludo’s propaganda machinery, carefully designed to weaken the resolve of Ndi Anambra to vote him out.

Anyone familiar with what communication experts call social listening will know that a growing number of Anambra residents are tired of Soludo’s highhandedness, which has turned him into the first “emperor” since the creation of the state. People are equally disappointed that an economics professor could adopt such a poor approach to governance—marked by lack of accountability, absence of transparency, and a dismissive attitude towards the worsening insecurity ravaging Anambra.

While the consensus among Ndi Anambra is that the Agu-Awka government is underperforming and must be changed, Soludo’s propaganda agents are working overtime to sow doubt, spreading a false sense of inevitability—that November’s election is already concluded in his favour. Their sole aim is to weaken the determination of the people he has consistently humiliated and violated since assuming office.

But the truth remains: Soludo is beatable. Every indication shows that he can be defeated. All it takes is for the thousands of Ndi Anambra who recognise the failure of this government to reject the psychological trap of “unwinnability” and to make their voices count at the polling units in November.

It is also untrue that no candidate has the capacity to challenge Soludo. Paul Chukwuma can, and is already doing so. He brings to the table intellectual depth, practical homegrown ideas, and a refreshing humility absent in the current administration. Unlike Soludo’s government—where arrogance and vindictiveness have become state policy—Paul Chukwuma is open, approachable, and free from the walls of elitism.

For Ndi Anambra who believe that arrogance and vindictiveness are not virtues to be celebrated in governance, Paul Chukwuma and the YPP remain the surest path to redemption.
