*EDO STATE GOVERNMENT ISSUES CLARIFICATION ON FREE BUS SERVICES AMIDST MISINFORMATION*

Henry J
28th November 2024
Benin City

To our esteemed citizens and stakeholders, we address you today with a message of clarification and reassurance.

As we navigate the complexities of governance, it is imperative that we remain committed to the well-being of our people.

In light of recent developments, we urge our friends in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to refrain from twisting the narrative in a negative approach.

As we strive to build a better future for Edo State, we must avoid misrepresenting facts and promoting misinformation.

Regarding the earlier statement announcing the approval of free bus services by the Executive Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, we hereby issue a clarification.

The statement in question should be disregarded, as the Governor is currently being briefed on issues surrounding the operation of the State-owned Edo City Transport Service (ECTS), operators of the free bus services.

In the interest of transparency we have placed the free bus services on hold pending a thorough review.

A new decision by the Governor will be communicated to the general public in due course.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter, and we remain committed to serving the best interests of Edo State and its people.

Stella Obasanjo Hospital hurriedly commissioned by Obaseki scam- Gov Okpebholo

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo has described the recent commissioning of Stella Obasanjo Hospital in Benin City by former Governor Godwin Obaseki as a scam.

He said construction at the facility is still ongoing, and equipment yet to be procured by the last administration before it hurriedly commissioned it as a completed project.

Governor Okpebholo pledged to immediately correct the structural defects at the Hospital in order to reposition it to serve the people better.

The Governor spoke when he inspected facilities at the Hospital on Tuesday evening, alongside the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa; and the Commissioner for Health, Dr Cyril Adams Oshiomhole.

Governor Okpebholo noted: “After inspecting the facilities, it is clear that nothing was done here by the Obaseki-led administration as they just painted the building and fixed air conditioners to deceive the people to think the building was completed. I don’t know what Obaseki and the PDP government did.

“This is a sham. Construction was ongoing when he commissioned the building. This is unacceptable. It is unfair. It is cheating to Edo people. We will come back again to talk with the contractor and see how to commission it for Edo people.”

Dr Oshiomhole who took the Governor round the facilities, said the contractor has a lot of explanations to make regarding the project.

“His Excellency has gone round to see the work and we have a lot of talking to do with the consultant and contractor because we thought that by now, the work would have been almost ready.

“This building was commissioned by the last administration politically, but coming here it is like an abandoned building at the other side. A lot of explanations need to be done at this point.

“I came here with a team of doctors, surgeons and other medical experts so that they will have their input and there were some structural defects we saw. We alerted the contractor and promised to correct those errors,” he said.

EDO STATE GOVERNMENT HOUSE PRESS STATEMENT

Gov Okpebholo will expose Obaseki, PDP's rot in Edo State

The factional chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party in Edo State is yet to accept the clear reality that it has assumed the arduous role of an opposition party.

The depleted and disorganised party ought to be apologising to Edo people for mismanaging their resources, denigrating revered traditional institutions, and allocating the commonwealth to a few insatiable criminals.

His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, the Elected and Executive Governor of Edo State, is in a hurry to develop Edo State. Since his inauguration a fortnight ago, he has remained undaunted, living up to the people’s expectations.

Barely one week in office, he addressed and solved what the Godwin Obaseki-led administration could not confront in eight years. He has banned activities of touts across various markets in Edo State, hired by the Obaseki-led administration.

Governor Okpebholo has confronted and solved the hydra-headed cult clashes in Benin City and has stopped illegal revenue collections as well.

He has flagged off the first flyover bridge in Edo State and is addressing key and challenging problems deliberately packaged by the Obaseki administration.

The PDP and Obaseki are worried that the public will be dazed when details of the atrocities he supervised as governor are unearthed.

Unfortunately, the Okpebholo-led administration owes it to Edo people to expose the PDP and Obaseki.

Today, it is on record that the Obaseki-led heinous administration dubiously dolled out almost 500 Government-owned vehicles to his cronies and allies.

The PDP-led heist in Edo State will be exposed. Governor Okpebholo-led administration will expose the atrocities of Obaseki and the factional PDP. No amount of blackmail will stop the Okpebholo-led administration from recovering the commonwealth of the people from a few dubious men

Again, the PDP is openly displaying its ignorance. When members of the National Assembly are elevated, the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives declare their seats vacant. We urge Edo people to ignore PDP's open display of ignorance.

SEN. MONDAY OKPEBHOLO'S PROMISE OF RESTORATION TOWARDS AMBROSE ALLI UNIVERSITY, ALREADY TAKING SHAPE.

MODEN RESPONSE TEAM.

The governor of Edo State, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, who has flagged off his administration on a very brilliant start in the state, has shown to be purpose driven as he has visibly began to bring to reality promises made to the Edo people in various aspects during the period of his campaign, in the September governorship election where he clinched a resounding victory.

The state owned varsity in Ekpoma, which was once a pride for the indigens of Esan Land in the past 8 years of the erstwhile Edo administrator, Godwin Obaseki, suffered many plagues that didn't only set the institution on reverse gear, but became a period where the institution was thrown into a state of comatose.

Obaseki, who ran an infamous administration, cut off the subvention of funds allocated to the institution from a mouth watering sum of two hundred and forty million naira (240,000,000) on monthly basis and began to hand stipends barely substantial to run the daily affairs of the institution. To make matters worst, the former administrator used his influence on the House of Assembly, to unlawfully suspend governing council of the institution to bring in place a Special Intervention Team (S.I.T)

Unfortunately the S.I.T, which was supposedly set up to look into the cases of corruption and irregular practices in the institution, metamorphosed into a burden for the institution and began to undertake certain actions that strongly impeded the productivity of staff working in the institution.

Sen. Monday Okpebholo acknowledged severally the challenges facing Ambrose Alli University and constantly promised that when elected governor, he would make reforms that will enable the institution regain its lost glory and its position as the pride of Esan Land and in the first week of his stay in office, this may already be coming true as the management of Ambrose Alli University, issued a memo yesterday to affected staff of the institution whose names were removed from payroll by the S.I.T, set up by the previous administration directing them to resubmit their details to the Registrar's office. This without a doubt is the beginning of light at the end of the tunnel for the institution under the Sen. Monday Okpebholo administration.

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo has flagged off the construction of a flyover bridge at Ramat Park, Benin City, the Edo State Capital, as part of immediate efforts to reduce traffic congestion in the city.

According to him, the completion of Ramat Park flyover in Benin City will transform the economy and social fortunes of the capital City and Edo State.

He said: “I warmly welcome you to the Ground breaking and flag-off ceremony of the construction of the Ramat Park Flyover here in Benin city.

“We have gathered to witness the beginning of a very important project that will transform the economy and social fortunes of our capital city and indeed Edo state. Ramat Park is a gateway to Benin city and other parts of the country.

“Therefore, Ramat Park Fly-Over will provide a new lease of life for motorists in Benin City and communities along these two corridors; the Benin-Auchi Expressway and the Benin-Asaba Expressway.

“During our campaigns a few months ago, I specifically promised to construct fly-overs to ease transportation and reduce the traffic gridlock in our city. Today, one week into my administration, we are here to fulfil that promise and deliver the dividends of democracy.

“This is the first flyover we are constructing and we are going to construct more. There will be one by Dawson Road junction and another one by Sapele Road/Adesuwa Road junction.

“Benin City was the first capital city of Africa when Europeans first came to the continent in the 14th century. So, we must give the city a befitting facelift to also encourage the development of tourism.

“Let me use this opportunity to appreciate the Speaker and other honourable members of the House of Assembly for their cooperation. To the contractor, CCECC Nigeria Limited, we look forward to seeing you work day and night to meet the 18-month completion period.

“Let me assure Edo people that in the ex*****on of this project, my administration will abide by all relevant laws.

“To our motorists here, please bear with us, as you also make some sacrifices by being patient with the contractors throughout the next 18 months.”

Daughter of a former Governor of Edo State, Amen Ogbemudia who is resident in the area, thanked the Governor for his visionary leadership which she said is fast bringing hope to Edo people.

She said Governor Okpebholo will perform well as the steps he has taken have shown that he means well for Edo people.

A youth of Oregbeni Community, the host Community, Emmanuel Aigbogun, appreciated the governor for this bold steps, adding that he has written his name in gold through the construction of the bridge.

“You made a promise, and you are here to fulfill that promise today by doing the ground-breaking and flag off of the Ramat Park flyover. We are behind you and will continue to support your administration,” he said.

OKPEBHOLO REASSURES PRACTICAL GOVERNANCE TO EDO PEOPLE IN LINE WITH CAMPAIGN PROMISE.

MODEN RESPONSE TEAM

The Edo state Governor, Sen. Monday Okpebholo who was sworn into office a week ago has continued to show commitment in his service towards the Edo people, as he promised during his campaign. The governor, since his first day in office has practically gotten to work especially in the area of Infrastructural development in the state which appears to be one aspect this administration is key on laying its foundation.

In the course of his duties yesterday, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, took out time to visit Ebomisi, secondary school in Ovia North East, where the governor described the state of the school as unacceptable to be in such a condition while the previous administration in the state kept boasting of operating EDO BEST scheme. He promised to act on the situation of the school to put it in proper shape alongside other places of learning across Edo state.

The governor also paid a visit to inspect the pace of work at the rehabilitation road project going on at Aduwawa market junction and Upper mission road, where the governor was welcomed to the cheers and admiration of market traders and passers by in the environs who acknowledged the efforts of the Edo State Government, under Sen. Monday Okpebholo, to transform the road conditions, which was flagged off immediately the governor assumed office.

The people of Oke-Oroma, who have been crying for justice since their lands were taken away from them under the Obaseki administration, are also beginning to have reasons to smile once again after years of feeling helpless as the Governor has promised to set up a commission of enquiry to look into the acquisition of their lands under the erstwhile Edo administrator through a gestapo manner, as Sen. Monday Okpebholo has expressed commitment to help them get back their lands.

These demonstrates the pledge made by Mr. Governor during his campaign about changing the narrative of governance in Edo state, where governance would be on the basis of service to the people. From all indications he is living up to his promises and has shown that the people of Edo state, got it right with the choice of Sen. Monday Okpebholo as governor, who is prepared with so much enthusiasm to rewrite the story of governance in Edo state.
