Igbos are included, Indigenous Ijaws are Neglected, Forgotten for decades in Edo state

By: EgberituverimosTv

A Call for Inclusion, Equity, and Development for Indigenous Ijaw Communities in Edo State.

The Indigenous Ijaw people in Edo State are deeply concerned about the continued neglect of their communities despite their contributions to the growth, peace, and unity of the state. While political appointments and government opportunities are being distributed across various ethnic groups, many Ijaw communities feel abandoned, unheard, and left behind in the affairs of Edo State.

We acknowledge and respect the constitutional right of every ethnic nationality in Edo State to participate in governance. However, the Indigenous Ijaw people are appealing to His Excellency, Governor Monday Okpebholo, to also remember the riverine Ijaw communities that have for decades suffered from underdevelopment, poor infrastructure, and lack of government presence.

Many Ijaw communities in Edo State still lack basic amenities such as good roads, healthcare centers, clean drinking water, electricity, quality schools, and economic empowerment opportunities. The people continue to live in difficult conditions despite being loyal citizens who have consistently contributed to the peace and progress of the state.

It is painful that many qualified Ijaw sons and daughters remain excluded from meaningful political appointments and decision-making positions. Inclusion is not just about politics; it is about fairness, recognition, and giving every ethnic group a sense of belonging.

We therefore passionately call on Governor Monday Okpebholo to extend the dividends of democracy to Indigenous Ijaw communities by:

* Appointing qualified Ijaw sons and daughters into key government positions such as Commissioners, Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, and board members.
* Investing in critical infrastructure in riverine communities.
* Providing schools, healthcare facilities, electricity, roads, and potable water.
* Creating employment and empowerment opportunities for Ijaw youths and women.
* Promoting unity and equal representation among all ethnic nationalities in Edo State.

The Indigenous Ijaw people are not asking for favoritism; they are asking for fairness, inclusion, and equal opportunity. Development should not be selective. Every community in Edo State deserves to feel the presence of government.

We believe that true leadership is measured by how well the weak, neglected, and marginalized are remembered. This is a time for healing, unity, and inclusive governance that carries every ethnic nationality along.

The Indigenous Ijaw people remain peaceful, law-abiding, and committed to the progress of Edo State. We only ask that our voices be heard and our communities not be forgotten.

“Justice, inclusion, and development for all will strengthen the unity and future of Edo State.”

HOSTCOM CONDEMN THE KILLING IN EGBEMA KINGDOM.

HOST COMMUNITIES OF NIGERIA PRODUCING OIL AND GAS (HOSTCOM) Edo State Chapter – Egbema Branch, Edo State

PRESS STATEMENT

CONDEMNATION OF THE KILLINGS IN BRADLEY VILLAGE (ABIYALA II), EGBEMA KINGDOM

The leadership of (HOSTCOM), Edo State Chapter, Egbema Branch, deeply condemns the unfortunate killing of innocent sons and daughters of Egbema Kingdom in Bradley Village (Abiyala II).

This tragic incident has brought pain, sorrow, and tension across our communities. The loss of human lives under any circumstance is heartbreaking and unacceptable. No misunderstanding, dispute, or conflict should ever lead to the shedding of blood among brothers and sisters who have lived together for generations.

Egbema Kingdom is known for peace, unity, hospitality, and communal coexistence. It is painful to witness a situation capable of threatening the peace and stability of our region. We therefore call on all parties involved to remain calm, avoid retaliation, and allow peace and justice to prevail.

HOSTCOM uses this medium to strongly appeal to all security agencies, government authorities, and relevant institutions to take the security of lives and property in Egbema Kingdom seriously. The continuous rise in violence and unrest within communities must not be ignored. We urge the Nigeria Police Force, military authorities, and all security stakeholders to immediately investigate the incident thoroughly and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice according to the law.

We also call on traditional rulers, youth leaders, women groups, community stakeholders, and opinion leaders to unite in the interest of peace. This is not a time for division or revenge; it is a time for dialogue, wisdom, and reconciliation.

The people of Egbema have contributed immensely to the growth and economic development of Nigerians through oil and gas production. Our communities deserve peace, protection, development, and respect — not violence and bloodshed.

HOSTCOM remains committed to promoting peace, security, unity, and sustainable development across host communities in the Niger Delta region.

May the souls of the departed rest in peace, and may God grant their families the strength to bear this painful loss.

The devastating impact of coastal erosion in Sangana, Akassa Clan, continues to threaten lives, homes, and the very existence of the people’s ancestral heritage. Year after year, the community watches helplessly as the ocean swallows their land, destroys properties, and leaves families displaced with little or no intervention from the Federal Government.

The Ijaw Youth Council Central Zone, under the leadership of Comr. Peres Ineife, has raised serious concerns over the environmental degradation ravaging the coastal communities and the continuous neglect suffered by the people despite their contributions to the nation’s economy.

Speaking on the worsening situation, the leadership condemned the silence and forgetfulness of the Federal Government towards the plight of the people of Sangana and the entire Akassa Clan. The council stressed that the continuous erosion is not just an environmental issue, but a humanitarian crisis that demands urgent attention and lasting solutions.

The IYC Central Zone called on relevant authorities, intervention agencies, and stakeholders to immediately swing into action by providing shoreline protection, relief materials, and sustainable developmental projects to save the communities from total destruction.

The people of Sangana and Akassa Clan deserve protection, development not abandonment.

EgberituverimosTv Condemns the Tragic Killing of Egbema Sons and Daughters in Bradley’s Village.

EgberituverimosTv strongly condemns the painful and unfortunate killing of four innocent Egbema sons and daughters in Bradley’s Village following the reported land dispute crisis.

This heartbreaking incident has thrown families, friends, and the entire Egbema Kingdom into deep mourning. No disagreement over land, boundaries, or community issues should ever lead to the loss of human lives. The blood of our people is too precious to be wasted in violence and hatred.

We mourn with the affected families and pray that God grants them strength during this difficult time. The pain of losing loved ones in such a tragic manner is unbearable, and the entire Ijaw Nation shares in this sorrow.

EgberituverimosTv is calling on all youths, community leaders, elders, and stakeholders to remain calm and embrace peace. Retaliation will only deepen the wounds and destroy the unity our forefathers fought to protect.

As the popular saying goes: “Ijaw no dey kill Ijaw.”
We are one people bound by blood, culture, history, and struggle. At a time when the Ijaw Nation needs unity more than ever, we must not allow internal conflicts to divide us or turn brothers against brothers.

We also call on security agencies and relevant authorities to immediately investigate this incident thoroughly and ensure justice is served according to the law. Those responsible for this act must be brought to justice to prevent further violence and restore confidence among the people.

Let peace reign in Egbema Kingdom.
Let dialogue replace violence.
Let unity overcome anger.

The future of our people depends on peace, understanding, and love for one another.
