TOPIC: DO YOUR OWN BUSINESS
*TEXT* : And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you". 1 Thessalonians 4:11
God did not create man to be idle on the earth. Right from inception, he took the man He created (Adam) and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. God gave him responsibility; he put him in his business. So also man after Adam is expected to locate his own business in God and do it. Idleness is cancerous. To be roaming about depending on what others will give you on sympathy ground is a shame. In this ninth month, I see your story changing for good.
This message is a call on every daughter and son of God to engage their hands and minds to work. Whatever business God has called you to will command His blessing on it. There is a grace that God releases on the works of the righteous making all they do to prosper (Psalms 1:3). So not to be doing anything other than lazing about begging to survive is to starve.
A time came in the life of the Prodigal's son that no man gave to him (Luke 15:16). That is where every idle fellow is heading to in life because people will soon become weary of him. Even if there is a great work or assignment or business you expect to be involved in, start from somewhere than idling away begging to survive. God in most cases passes His beloved through process to get them to that desired place. That is why His word counsel us in Ecclesiastes 9:10, "Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might..." In the days of little beginning, find what to do as you prepare for that great thing ahead of you. "He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread: but he that followeth after vain persons shall have poverty enough" Proverbs 28:19.
Prayer:
My Father! My Father! As I begin to pray, I receive grace, to awake and do my own business.
