300 WOMEN BENEFIT FROM EDO FIRST LADY'S OFFICE MICRO-BUSINESS GRANTS

The Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, Edo State, Mrs Edesili Okpebholo Anani, says empowering women through micro-business grants will strengthen families, promote economic independence and boost prosperity across communities in Edo State.
Mrs. Anani stated this on Monday in Benin while addressing beneficiaries at an empowerment programme themed “Micro Business Empowerment: Empowering Women, Strengthening Families, Building a Prosperous Edo.”
She said the programme was designed to support women, strengthen their businesses and create greater economic opportunities for families.

With profound sadness and a heavy heart but in total submission to the will of the almighty God, the family of Chief M.C.K. Orbih announce the passing of our beloved brother, husband, father and uncle, Chief Daniel Osi Orbih, who passed away on Monday, 31 August 2026.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Florence Orbih; his children, Ms. Winifred Anwosiobor Orbih and Dr. Mildred Omonemi Orbih; his brothers and sisters; as well as other members of the extended family.

At this difficult time, we ask family members, friends and well-wishers to remember the entire family in their prayers as we mourn this painful loss.
Further details will be announced in due course.

Edo Govt Signs Strategic Partnership with State of African Diaspora on Seaport, Agriculture, Railway*
_Deal Aims to Attract Diaspora Investment, Boost Economic Growth_

BENIN CITY — Edo State Governor, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, on Monday received Dr. Louis-Georges Tin, Prime Minister of the State of the African Diaspora, for the signing of a strategic partnership and implementation framework agreement.

The agreement targets investment and development in key sectors including the proposed Gele Seaport, agriculture, railway infrastructure, and other projects aimed at improving the wellbeing of Edo residents.

Gov. Okpebholo said the partnership offers Africans in the Diaspora an opportunity to reconnect with their homeland and contribute to development. He noted that his administration had strengthened the Edo State Diaspora Agency to support remittances and engagement.

Dr. Tin said the State of the African Diaspora represents 350 million people of African descent worldwide. He stressed that their return is about “reconnection, not tourism,” and confirmed interest in the Gele Seaport, Gele-North railway, and agriculture.

Joint technical teams have been set up, with priority projects already forwarded to the Attorney-General, Prof. Roland Otaru, for legal review.

Also present were DG Edo Diaspora Agency, Loretta Oduware Ogboro-Okoro, Head of Service Dr. Anthony Okungbowa, Chief of Staff Hon. Yakubu Musa, and Commissioner Prince Kassim Afegbua.
