Act As One for Good Governance Holds First Strategic Meeting to Strengthen Grassroots Engagement
In a bid to enhance community involvement and political advocacy, Act As One For Good Governance, a social-political organization, convened a pivotal meeting in Benin City on Friday 22nd March, 2024. The session, which brought together members from various local government areas to discuss strategies for effective grassroots mobilization and government engagement.
The meeting opened with a solemn prayer led by Mr. Godwin Eghianruwa form Egor LGA, setting a tone of unity and purpose.
Following the prayer, attendees were introduced, and the Convener, Ms. Eson Blessing Osariemen, took the floor to address the gathering. Ms. Osariemen provided insights into Act As One's mission, emphasizing its structured approach to community outreach. She reiterated its commitment to holding government accountable for good governance. Urging members to prioritize contributions over monetary incentives, Ms. Osariemen emphasized the importance of constructive engagement and grassroots campaigns.
Co-Convener Mr. Bevy Efe echoed these sentiments, stressing the organization's social-political focus and the benefits of active participation. Mr. Efe urged members to demonstrate commitment and engagement, citing the adage 'na wo work dey chop' to underscore the rewards of diligent effort.
As the meeting progressed, Mr. Godwin encouraged unity and forward momentum, urging members to spread the organization's message and appreciate leadership efforts.
The incoming local government coordinators were tasked with selecting ward and unit leaders, establishing WhatsApp groups, and ensuring proper documentation.
Egor,Orhionnwon,Oredo, Ovia South West and Ikpoba okha local government, had their coordinators appointed.
The group Admin, Mr. Akin-Ola Emmanuel Eloghosa. emphasized the need for social media coordination from local government level and comprehensive member data capture, underscoring the importance of effective communication and outreach.
Mr. Bright Omorodion the newly appointed Coordinator for ikpoba okha suggested regular meetings for situation reports and activity planning, further enhancing organizational effectiveness.
The meeting concluded with a closing prayer led by Mrs. Jennifer Obaseki, marking a significant step forward in Act As One's mission to empower grassroots communities and foster positive political change.
