This was heart breaking to read.

Tunde Thomas (alias Tunde Gentle), 45, died about two weeks ago from heartbreak. The two kids from his marriage were indeed fathered by a man without scruples or conscience, the current MD of FCMB, Adam Nuru who was his wife’s boss (MD) in FCMB. Tunde’s wife, Moyo Thomas (Nee Ojo), a useless an unconscionable adulterer was engaged in an office romance with her MD, a relationship that was well known throughout the organization as the lack of shame and decorum in both lovebirds made them to get carried away and to throw caution to the wind.

FCMB, an organization without proper rules or governance looked the other way while the open and unprofessional romance was going on between the MD and a subordinate staff of the same organization, a married woman.

The MD, Adam Nuru, who was supposed to be the chief Governance Officer and Chief Image Maker of FCMB spared no thought for the husband of this lady who was bringing up his (Nuru’s) two children while thinking they were his. He also did not think of the organization he was leading while engaging in this foul conduct, the scandal with which no ethical organization would want to be associated.

Tunde was so in love with and attached to his wife and children that he spent most of his resources on them. He took them to London and Dubai on holidays. He also spared no penny in putting them in the best schools.

At the height of the shameful relationship and when the older child was about eight (8) years old, the lady suddenly resigned from FCMB and travelled to the US with the two children, ostensibly on holiday. It was when the school session started in Nigeria and the children were not returned that Tunde started asking questions and the lady finally summoned the shameless courage to tell him the children were not his own.

She then went to the extent of filing for asylum in the US on the ground of marital violence in Nigeria, against a man known to all men by his gentle and easygoing disposition. Her aim was to get the Green Card and to also get Tunde to be barred from entering the US, so she would not have to confront him to look him in the eye and tell him to his face the evil that she had done to him. Within a few months of hearing this news, Tunde suffered a stroke at about the age of 42. He recovered from the stroke but became a shadow of his former self. He would often shed tears from the blues.

Recently, he tried to pick up the pieces of his life and started another relationship with a lawyer lady. Tunde had invited some friends to accompany him to visit the lady’s parents on 26th December. They were planning the materials to take along for the visit but alas, it was not to be. Tunde got home from work in the night of 15th December only to collapse by his staircase and die immediately. Autopsy report puts the cause of death as heart failure.

The wicked souls, Adam Nuru and Moyo Ojo (later Moyo Thomas) have done their worst, the death of an innocent man, and their hands are dripping with his blood. God will demand it of them.

In the meantime, the family and friends of Tunde Thomas (alias Tunde Gentle) hereby wish to bring this shameful conduct to the knowledge of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the board and management of FCMB and to members of the public. We use this medium to call on FCMB to separate and detach its brand from this evil man, Adam Nuru, immediately. If this notice is ignored and Adam Nuru is at his desk in another two weeks from 30th December 2020, we will be left with no option than to vehemently call the attention of the public to the abysmal lack of ethics in the organization and to advise the members of the public to withdraw their funds and banking business from FCMB.
A word is enough for the wise.

N:B Tunde Gentle was buried 30th December 2020. He had worked in Oceanic Bank back in the days. He was one of the most gentle and yet, most friendly of all individuals, as many would testify of him.

He died as an Executive Director in an asset management company, GDL Asset Management Company Ltd. He was survived by an aged mother and siblings.

May his truly gentle soul rest in perfect peace.

My dear people of Edo State, and members of the PDP in particular.

By now most of you are aware of the court injunction I instituted against our nomination processes. As painful as it is that i had to do that, I feel it is the quickest and most necessary thing to do at this time to save our party from an impending disaster.

Let me state again that I remain a very loyal and committed member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). I have been through thick and thin with the party and have labored with many others to build the vibrant, peaceful and stable structure we had before the events of the recent days.

Politics has never been a do-or-die affair for me. I represent a generation that is passionate about its destiny and seeks to grow and thrive in an environment where things are done rightly and people can hope, expecting anticipated results of their efforts.

Before I embarked on this project to serve our state in executive capacity over a year ago, I consulted extensively with leaders within and outside our party, and with the assurances and promise of support I got, we embarked on the tedious and demanding process of reaching out and building relationships and alliances with our members across the 18 local Governments of the state. This year-long exercise culminated with another ‘meet-the-delegates tour’ across the state last week, after which we came back to prepare for primaries. Suddenly the brewing plan by certain ‘leaders’ in our party who for certain reasons had decided they were going to stop my ambition by all means, shockingly materialized with their 'bringing' the Governor into the party on the same day we were to have primaries they had influenced to be postponed.

I have spent quite some time in politics and I understand that due to its dynamism, sudden strategic calculations may necessitate re-alignments and the need to make sacrifices. Such a situation is not one I would reject. What I found difficult to understand was the brazen manner in which a process that was a few hours to completion could be bastardized, established rules and due process turned on its head, hard-work and efforts treated so inconsequentially, and key stakeholders treated so shabbily and disrespectfully, all in the bid to enthrone what had all the clothings of illegality. No dedicated member of the PDP deserves to be treated that way.

Even with such travesty and injustice, my loyalty to the party was my first consideration and I expected that necessary actions would be taken to manage an already ugly situation. If anything changed, the least that was expected was that a meeting would be called where issues could be tabled and discussed, especially pertaining to the internal and external dangers related to the process that brought in the governor. Nothing of such was done. (That a man marries a new wife does not mean the old one must be sent packing ingloriously, forgetting that she contributed to the beauty the new wife saw in the man in the first place).

My action is not an affront to the party or its leadership as some people may decide to interpret it, but rather a last attempt to save the party from making a major blunder that could lead to series of lawsuits with a possibility of disqualification of the party from participating in the September 2020 Edo Governorship Elections.

I state unequivocally that I was very happy to welcome our governor His Excellency Godwin Obaseki into the party. PDP remains a progressive umbrella that is open to everyone that can add value to our common goal, and I believe our governor offers such value.

What this injunction is about is the flawed process that has been adopted to put the governor on the ballot for the primaries. A dispassionate and critical look at the process adopted to allow him participate in the primaries will show that probably as a result of the rush to make it happen, a couple of illegalities may have been made which could create legal loopholes for our opponents or aggrieved parties to exploit. It is expected that we learn lessons from the situation in the last elections with the opposing party in Zamfara and Rivers States.

Sentiments must never override due-process, justice, equity and legality. Established rules should not be twisted or broken at the whims and caprices of anyone who feels like it, for whatever reason. No serious system will thrive in such practices.

It will be a shame and most painful to a lot of us and the Edo people in general if the PDP goes ahead with the primaries coated with irregularities just to have the whole process cancelled at a later date through legal action. That, I believe will be a major setback and greatly demoralizing for our dear party and those passionate about it.

My decision to take this stand is because it seems nobody is paying attention to this very important situation. Let it be clear that my action is actually me putting the interest of the party above all other considerations. I have never played desperate politics. I have won elections, and I have lost election. In all I have accepted the legitimate outcomes and looked to the future. If we will change our society for the future, we must get our politics right by entrenching a process that is decent, fair, follows due process and respects the rights of individuals to achieve whatever visions they chose to pursue. While this has led to all forms of aspersions on my person, (the first of such magnitude since I joined politics in 1999), I have chosen to see my present actions as my contribution to making that happen for my generation and those coming after us who would desire to participate in governance.

A well conducted process will produce a candidate. Whoever that candidate is will have my full support as has been my antecedent in the party; but as I have always promoted, let the right process be followed. We must do what is necessary to protect the stable Edo PDP we have worked tirelessly for, this last couple of years.

I ask that you all disregard the various falsehoods being spread around by these ‘strange’ characters about my actions being sponsored by forces to frustrate the governor, or that this is for pecuniary gain. Such things have never deserved my attention or response. As I have always said, such crude and unrefined politics remain beneath me.

Let me state that these views I have expressed are not mine alone, but also of many of our teeming members and supporters who are saddened and demoralised by this unfortunate situation.

I apologise to all my leaders who I continue to hold in high esteem, supporters and party faithfuls who feel unhappy and surprised at this action I have taken. For me, it is a matter that borders on deep morals, unwavering principles, and strong character, which have formed the cornerstones of my existence.

Finally, I want to express my deep and profound gratitude to the very respected elders across our state who have reached out to me to intervene in this matter. I have listened and I am still listening.

God bless out great party PDP. God bless our dear Edo State. God bless us all.

Rt. Hon (Engr.) Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama .

Obinwanne "Invictus Obi" Okeke pleads guilty to N4.2 billion fraud; to be sentenced in October

Obinwanne Okeke, the owner of Invictus Group, who was arrested in the United States last year for computer-based fraud, has pleaded guilty to $11 million (N4.2 billion) fraud.

The 32-year-old Nigerian businessman admitted to American prosecutors that he was involved in computer-based fraud between 2015 and 2019.

Joshua Stueve, a spokesperson for the United States District Court for Eastern District of Virginia, told Premium Times on Thursday evening that Mr Okeke could spend 20 years maximum penalty in an American jail.

He would be sentenced on October 22, Mr Stueve said.

"A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after taking into account the U.S. sentencing guidelines and other statutory factors,” the court official said.

The publication adds that Robert Krask, an American judge of the district, certified the guilty plea on Thursday morning to clear the paths for Mr Okeke’s sentencing.

Mr Okeke and other alleged conspirators said to still be at large were accused of targeting American businesses in a probe led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Unatrac, a subsidiary of heavy equipment giant Caterpillar, was amongst the companies said to have been targeted by the cartel in a business email compromise scheme for several years. Over $11 million was said to have been traced to the ring, amidst claims that Mr Okeke allegedly used proceeds of his illicit dealings to build a business empire in Abuja and other parts of Nigeria

Frank Mba, the spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force has given reasons why many rapists in Nigeria go unpunished.

In a chat on TVC on Friday morning, Frank stated that the number one reason why r**e cases are never successfully prosecuted is because they are reported late. He also disclosed that alteration of the crime scene largely affects the success of a r**e investigation.

''R**e is a very serious criminal offence and r**e it is not fun. R**e is not s*x. R**e is not lo******ng. R**e is violence. It is a very extreme form of torture. It is a life threatening event. It is totally humilating. As a matter fact, you can define r**e as robbery of another persons essense, dignity and the worst form of assault on any woman. It is a serious thing.

Unfortunately for us, it is one of those crimes that has posed a lot of problems in managing, in presenting, in investigating sometimes and in succeefully prosecuting.

Most cases of r**e are unreported. As a matter of fact, some statistics say between 60% to 90% of r**e cases are unreported. It is even worse when they are cases that has to do with in**st and molestation of children. A lot of this cases are unreported.

The fundamental problem for us as investigators are three. Number one is the fact that a lot of r**e cases are reported very late and the fact that they are reported late, it impacts on the quality and the success of investigations. The longer you stay in reporting a r**e case, the higher the probability or the chances that evidence and the crime scene will be mismanaged.

Although there is no status bar limiting the time you can report a r**e case, you can even report twelve months later, but the earlier you report a r**e case, the better and higher the chances of success.''he said

Mba said the most important part of a r**e investigation is the management of the crime scene.

''As a matter of fact, in most crimes, how the crime scene is managed determines the success of investigations and people must remember that r**e cases are even very special in the sense that in a r**e case, there are two immediate crime scenes.

The first crime scene is place where the crime took place whether it is in a room, a car, a bush path or in a church like the case of Uwa. That particular place where the crime took place is a major crime scene.

The second crime scene is the body of the woman. Infact the body of the victim is a walking crime scene. It is a living crime scene. It is a mobile crime scene. And how we manage both the physical as well as that living crime scene will determine the success of an investigation.

Let me give a few tips on how we can manage this because often times, before the police gets to the crime scene, a lot of persons have messed up the crime scene.

Whenever there is a r**e, the first thing is to leave the physical crime scene intact. Don't adulterate them, don't take anything out of the place, don't alter the position of any object, don't touch anything. Don't even flush the toilet.

If there is a condom pack there or a used condom, don't even touch it and for the woman, don't shower, don't douch. Don't change your clothings and if it is a case where we suspect it is a Date r**e where probably drug was used or a drug facilitated r**e, then the woman has additional responsibility to make sure that she doesn't urinate except it is a situation where if she doesn't urinate, she might suffer something. She will need to urinate in the hospital because the first urine after that incident might help us determine the kind of drug that was laced in her drink and if for example you suspect it is a drug-induced r**e, don't dispose any glass cup there or even the drink whether it is a wine. Leave it there for us.

This is the major problem we have in Nigeria. You get to the crime scene and the whole place is messed up and even when police officers take finger prints, we get multiple fingerprints making investigations run into very murky water''

When asked how the police protect the testimony of a victim since the memory from such events may be lost over time, the force PRO said

''Protecting the memory or refreshing the memory of a victim are facilitated by two things. If the victim reports the case on time, what we do is we take the statement of the victim. These days we don't just take written statement. We might also do an audio taping of the testimony of the victim so whenever and wherever we are bound to begin the prosecution of the suspect, we will give the victim ample opportunity to refresh her memory. Where we have major problem in terms of memory loss are the ones when the case is reported months after the incident in which case even as at the time of reporting, the victim might not remember a whole lot of things and it is only what the victim tells the police that the police can work with.'' he said

He also gave instances where some families pull out from r**e cases and frustrate police officers from prosecuting the suspects.

''This actually the most worrisome trend and sometimes people forget that policemen are very emotional people. There is nothing that hurts a police officer, a police detective, an investigator or a prosecutor like when you have your case wrapped up, you have worked so hard to put up evidence together, you are very sure you have a watertight case and as the time you are about to initiate prosecution or halfway into prosecution, you discover that the families of the victims are pulling out and even in cases where we refuse their request to terminate the prosecution, they come to the court and they become hostile witnesses and clearly they will frustrate you.

Let me give you an example. When I started my career, I was working at Trinity police station in Apapa and we had this case of the defilement of a young girl that was just about ten. The girl was hawking oranges. One big guy took her to an uncompleted building and got her defiled. I was assigned that case as a young investigative police officer. We worked so hard with other persons, established a clear case and when we were about to initiate prosecution, the families reached an agreement with the suspect, collected some amount of money and told us that they were withdrawing and this kind of thing happens everytime. I remeber I cried my eyes dry. Some older policemen were just making jest of me saying I haven't seen anything yet. These are the things that happen and it can be very very frustrating.'' he said

When asked if every police station in Nigeria has the capacity to handle a r**e case, Mba said

''What we have done overtime is to raise a generation of officers who are trained and given some specialization in investigating r**e cases but the honest truth is that every police station can act as a first responder.''
