Security surveillance and increased presence of security personnels observed in Ekpoma, after governor's promise to make Edo unhabitable for criminals.

The scourge of kidnapping in Edo Central, in recent time, has caught major attention, within the state, following series of kidnapping incidents reported to have taken place in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area. The reoccurring acts of kidnapping which has so far been troubling, has seen to a solid response from the State Government.

It would be recalled that a protest took place in Ekpoma, early morning on Saturday, initially tagged as peaceful protest, which unfortunately lost its cool as what followed afterwards was wanton destruction of billboards, burning of tyres and looting of some commodities, not to mention cases of vandalism and arson.

During a visit by His Excellency, Sen. Monday Okpebholo to the Palace of the Onojie of Ekpoma, the Governor, made series of remarks in regards to the recent development bothering on security in the locality where he appreciated the monarch for his leadership qualities and fatherly disposition.

Mr. Governor, also berated the actions of some of the protesters who although had reasons to protest but unfortunately made the protest take a different turn which threatened the fabric of peace in the society. He promised to bring to book the perpetrators of kidnapping as he vowed to make the state unhabitable for criminals.

He also disclosed that surveillance equipments and technology have been deployed alongside other security measures which are expected to yield results and true to the words of Mr. Governor, barely 24 hours after, the people of Ekpoma, confirmed the presence of a surveillance helicopter hovering over the skies, while on ground, men on boots were combing the streets with a mandate to flush out criminal elements.

COMMISSIONER FOR EDUCATION, DR. PADDY IYAMU, SENDS HEARTFELT MESSAGE TO EDO TEACHERS, STUDENTS AND PARENTS AHEAD OF RESUMPTION.

As resumption of academic activities in schools across Edo, set to commence on Monday, January 12th, 2026, following a directive by the Ministry of Education, the Honourable Commissioner, who has brought rejuvenation to the educational sector in the state in line with the vision of His Excellency, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, Executive Governor of Edo State, has sent out a special message ahead of the new term.

With a bubbling charisma, and radiant appearance as always the Honourable Commissioner welcomed students and teachers into the New Year and into a new academic term, where he passed some words of commendation and advise on the way forward as the schools set to reopen.

Dr. Paddy Iyamu, describes the resumption as an opportunity for growth, learning and lot of fun which has been made possible through the efforts of the Edo State Government, under Sen. Monday Okpebholo who has made it a point of duty to provide suitable infrastructure to schools in the state and employment of competent teachers to ensure that students can learn and thrive.

He also extended gratitude to parents of pupils and students across the state for being part of this opportunity to mould the lives of the young minds, while also appreciating educators and teachers for their dedication which has so far driven the growth of the students as he appeals for more hardwork on their part.

The Commissioner also called on community leaders to protect the schools being built in their various communities in order to preserve and protect the efforts of government. He assured that series of plans and activities by the government are on the way to ensure the students are sound both health and academic wise.

Dr. Paddy Iyamu, has continued to earn the commendation of Edo people, for being a leading light, under this administration and a great ambassador of the government pioneering excellence, under the S.H.I.N.E agenda.

I paid a courtesy visit to my Boss, my Friend and my Leader, the Deputy Governor of Edo State, RT Hon Dennis Idahosa, a man I proudly the Ovia White Lion. This visit was not just official, It was personal and deeply meaningful to me.

Anyone who truly knows me understands the bond we share. He is more than a political leader in my life, he is my big brother and my support system. From the very beginning, he accepted me as a younger sister and has remained consistently present, offering guidance, protection, and genuine care.

From the moment I decided to begin this new journey, Hon Dennis stood firmly by me. He provided direction when I needed clarity and encouragement when I felt uncertain, the emotional support he has given me over time is something money cannot buy. The love has been sincere, steady, and overwhelming.

One moment that remains unforgettable was the day I broke down in tears during a phone call with him. Despite being in the middle of important meetings, he kept calling back to check on me, he did not stop until he was sure I was calm, stable, and truly okay. That level of care speaks volumes about his character.

Boss, words cannot fully express my gratitude, having you as a big brother and a friend is a blessing that cannot be easily understood. You pray for me, stand by me, and show up in every season of my life. You have welcomed me as family, and for that, I am deeply thankful.

As you rightly said, January 17th is a special day. Your younger sister is getting married, and we are moving forward together with joy and confidence. Thank you, Leader, for everything, I remain forever grateful.

I paid a courtesy visit to our leader and father, Senator Monday Okpebholo, the Executive Governor of Edo State, to formally inform him of my presence in town and to personally invite him to my wedding ceremony scheduled for the 17th of January.

The visit was warm and deeply meaningful, he received me with kindness and a genuine sense of fatherly care. During our conversation, he offered valuable advice on marriage, emphasizing respect, understanding, and the importance of honouring one’s husband and family. His words reflected wisdom, experience, and sincere concern for my future.

I left the meeting encouraged and grateful. It was a pleasant and memorable moment, and I truly appreciate the warm reception, blessings, and guidance he shared with me.

The 10th Edition of Dr. Paddy Iyamu’s Free Medical Outreach has become a landmark of mercy, recording over 3,000 lives touched, countless burdens lifted, and destinies restored since inception

From the young to the elderly, the beauty of this outreach was not just in the numbers but in the radiant joy that lit up the faces of beneficiaries; men and women who walked in with fear and left with gratitude; families who had carried the weight of pain for years but finally found freedom through free surgeries and comprehensive medical care.

​The MODEN Response Team, has issued a heartfelt congratulatory message to His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo and his deputy, Rt. Hon Dennis Idahosa, as they mark their one year anniversary in office.

​The congratulatory statement, released by the convener of the Group Amb. Amafe Jessica described Senator Monday Okpebholo's leadership as a blessing to Edo State citing the duo's commitment to the welfare and development of the State.

​“This one-year anniversary of His Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo as the Executive Governor of Edo State is not just a commemoration of time, but a celebration of a transformative leadership rooted in the desire to bring genuine progress to every corner of our state,” the statement read.
