Do you really need a coach or mentor before you can achieve results?

Someone asked me this question in my DM two days ago.

And my honest reply was No.
You can be your own accountability partner.
You can hold yourself responsible when you don’t get things done.

But between me and you Padi:
➡️How many people are even self-aware enough?

➡️How many people will scold themselves when they waste time scrolling, gossiping, or postponing their dreams?

➡️How many people will look in the mirror and admit that "Ahh I failed myself today"? Very few.

That is why many start things with excitement but end halfway.
That is why businesses collapse before their first anniversary.
That is why creatives hide their talents, while less-skilled people outshine them.

Accountability is not just about having a coach or mentor.
It is about having a mirror.
Someone or something that will not allow you to lie to yourself.

Because left alone, most people will excuse their laziness, justify their inconsistency, and polish their excuses until they sound like valid reasons.

And guess what?
Excuses don’t build empires.
Accountability does.

So I leave you with this one question: Assessing yourself from January till Now have you held yourself accountable for your actions?

Not Every Teenager Wants the Spotlight

We live in a Gen Z generation where teenagers are bold, expressive, and quick to share every moment online.
But the truth is, not all of them are like that. Some are extremely reserved shy around the camera, hesitant to pose, and unsure of how they look.

This young girl I edited falls into that category. Quiet. Unique. Reserved. The kind who would rather stay in the background than put herself forward.

Yet behind that quietness is a rare beauty one that deserves to be celebrated without forcing her to be what she is not.

When I edited her photo, my goal was not to change her. It was to preserve her innocence, highlight her natural glow, and show her that even in her reserved nature, she could shine.

Every time I edit a child’s photo, I remind myself of one thing that this picture will one day become a memory they look back on.

That is why I never try to make kids look older than their age because I understand perfectly well that their innocence is their beauty. Their natural joy is their glow.

When I edit, my goal is not to change them but to highlight the purity, happiness, and simplicity of childhood. Because 10 years from now, those parents won’t just see a picture, they will see their child exactly as they were: young, radiant, and full of life.

The truth is, I derive so much joy from this.
It is more than retouching a photo for me it is preserving a stage of life that can never be relived. It is freezing innocence in time, so families can keep it forever.

Yesterday, I was out with a family friend when I remembered it was her daughter’s birthday.
I prayed for her and wished her a happy birthday. Then I asked her to strike her favorite pose so I can give her a shot using my phone camera.

She replied "But Ma, I am not properly dressed."

I smiled and asked her not to worry about it.

So I took a quick shot with my phone, and that was it.
When I got home, I could not stop thinking about that photo. I sat with it for about 30 minutes, marking out her strong points and imagining the perfect background that would make her shine.

Then the perfect picture hit me and I began editing.
I was not just editing for beauty, because I had one clear goal which is to preserve her innocence as a teenager while still making her look stunning.

From outfit tweaking to background refinement, every detail mattered. Hours later, the result was born and it was magical.

This wasn’t just about a birthday picture.
It was about giving a young girl a memory she will look back on with joy for years to come.
It was about turning a casual phone shot into a timeless portrait.

Earlier this year, I witnessed a scene in my neighborhood that taught me a deep lesson about competition and copying.

We had two women:
A. One was a nurse (with a small medicine shop).

B. The other was a provision seller (strictly into foodstuff and household items).

Now, because the provision seller was making more sales, the nurse decided to bombard her shop with provisions too. Practically everything the other woman was selling, she started stocking.

Yes, she began selling provisions… but guess what?
People in the neighborhood still preferred going elsewhere for drugs and treatments.

Occasionally, I overheard people say:
“That one nurse keh? Abeg ooo.” whenever her shop was mentioned.

Before long, her medicine shelves grew empty. Every time customers needed some medications included myself, her reply was: “I don’t have.”

Why? Because she abandoned her lane trying to compete with someone who was never her competition in the first place.

Now, let me balance this:
I know someone will say: “But I know a nurse who also sells provisions and she is doing very well.”

Very correct. I have seen one too.
But here is the difference:
Some of those who succeed do so because they strategically align both things.

But in this nurse’s case, she wasn’t aligning.
She was copying out of competition, not purpose.

That is the real lesson:
➡️ It is not about doing many things.

➡️ It is about doing the right things that align with your lane.

The moment someone sees another person acting funny online and gaining followers…
BOOM they too will switch overnight.

Before you know the next thing, they are squeezing their faces, rolling their eyes, shouting on camera using all their veins in their necks just to fit in.🤦🏽‍♀️

What they forget is this:
