KUMAYON CALLS FOR UNITY AT INAUGURATION
Mr. Ajose Peter Kumayon was officially sworn in on Sunday, 27th July 2025, as the 6th Chairman of Olorunda Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Lagos State, amid celebrations and a call for unity across the council area.
At the inauguration ceremony, following the swearing-in by the Governor of Lagos State, which took place at Age-Mowo Junior Secondary School, Osun-Egbado in Mowo, drew a large crowd of dignitaries, including traditional rulers, party chieftains, religious leaders, council officials, and residents of the community.
In his inaugural speech, Kumayon expressed profound gratitude to the people of Olorunda for entrusting him with the responsibility to serve, describing the moment as both humbling and historic. He paid tribute to his predecessors and acknowledged the contributions of past chairmen who laid the groundwork for the development of the LCDA.
“Today marks a fresh chapter in the story of Olorunda,” he said. “This mandate is not a position of prestige, but a sacred call to serve with integrity and purpose.”
Kumayon extended appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for their leadership in promoting grassroots development. He also lauded the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for providing the platform for his emergence, particularly recognizing the state party chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, and the local party executives.
In a message aimed at healing political divisions, Kumayon urged all stakeholders to move beyond the election season and work together in the spirit of collective progress. “This is not the time for competition. It is time for unity and hard work. No one is a loser; we all won, and we are moving forward together,” he declared.
The new chairman assured residents that his administration would be guided by transparency, accountability, and accessibility. He pledged to engage traditional rulers, political leaders, youth groups, market stakeholders, community associations, and civil society in the development process.
Goodwill messages were delivered by prominent figures, including Chief Olatunde Joseph (ONISALU), who described the day as joyful and urged residents to be prayerful and patient with the new administration. His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Oladele Kosoko, the Oniworo of Iworo Kingdom, congratulated the chairman and advised him to focus on inclusive leadership and teamwork.
