GOVERNOR BAGO EMPOWERS LANDZUN WARD WOMEN WITH ₦30 MILLION SUPPORT FUND

In a bold and heartfelt demonstration of inclusive governance, His Excellency, Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, has extended a generous empowerment package of ₦30,000,000 (Thirty Million Naira) to the Landzun Ward Bago Women Support Group a move that has stirred excitement and gratitude across the community.

This support, aimed at strengthening small-scale enterprises and promoting economic independence among women, reflects Governor Bago’s unwavering commitment to grassroots development and women’s inclusion in the economic framework of Niger State.

Significantly, the gesture is directed towards Landzun Ward — the Governor’s ancestral home — symbolizing his philosophy of “starting development from the roots to reach the top.” The empowerment underscores his belief that no society can truly thrive unless its women are supported, uplifted, and equipped to succeed.
“This support will go a long way in boosting local entrepreneurship, creating sustainable livelihoods, and reinforcing the role of women as vital contributors to community and state development,” said Mallama Zainab Idris, President of the Support Group. She praised the Governor’s thoughtfulness and prayed for continued guidance and success in his leadership.

This ₦30 million intervention is not just about money — it is about trust, vision, and legacy. It offers women in Landzun Ward the opportunity to grow their businesses, support their families, and contribute to a more prosperous Niger State.

Comr. Umar Lakpene, Secretary General of the support group, described the empowerment as “a landmark moment” in the history of the ward, saying: “His Excellency has once again proven that true leadership is about touching lives and building futures. In a beautiful display of respect and cultural pride, Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago led a heartfelt special prayer session at the Wadata Palace, Bida, to honour His Royal Highness, Alh. Yahaya Abubakar, the Etsu Nupe and Chairman, Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers on his 73rd birthday and 22nd year on the throne.

The prayer session, which brought together prominent Islamic scholars, dignitaries, and well-wishers, was not only a spiritual gathering but a powerful message of peace, unity, and continuity in leadership.

Governor Bago, in his remarks, praised the Etsu Nupe as a pillar of wisdom, a symbol of humility, and a beacon of guidance. He expressed gratitude to Allah for preserving the life of the Etsu Nupe and prayed for continued grace, strength, and wisdom upon his throne.

In return, the Etsu Nupe appreciated the Governor for organizing the event and for his ongoing developmental strides across Niger State. He reassured the governor of the unwavering support of all traditional institutions across the state.

Led by the *Chief Imam of Bida, Sheikh Adamu Yakatun*, the prayers extended to the entire Bida Emirate, Niger State, and Nigeria, especially for divine intervention in the nation's fight against insecurity and economic challenges.

The Mayakin Nupe, Alhaji Aliyu Yahaya, also commended Governor Bago for his continuous respect for tradition and his visible efforts in transforming the state.

With trembling hearts and eyes filled with tears, we announce the painful passing of one of Nupe film industry’s shining stars MC Mustapha Kutigi.
"Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un" Truly, we belong to Allah and to Him we shall return.

Today, we mourn more than just a person — we mourn a soul that brought light, laughter, and love to screens and to hearts. Mustapha Kutigi wasn’t just an actor he was a voice for the culture, a vessel of joy, and a brother to many.

He gave Nupe stories a face. He gave the people hope. His roles, his energy, his smile — they were never just performance; they were reflections of who he truly was: genuine, humble, and full of life.

This loss is heavy. Too heavy. The Nupe industry has lost a pillar. Communities have lost a friend. Families have lost a son. We have lost a star one that shone so brightly and left too soon.

We pray, Ya Allah, forgive his shortcomings, elevate his status among the righteous, widen his grave, and admit him into the highest place in Al-Jannatul Firdaus.Comfort his family, friends, fans, and colleagues. FARMER GOVERNOR UMAR MOHAMMED BAGO APPROVES OVER ₦1.5 BILLION FOR STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS IN NIGER STATE

In a bold and historic move, His Excellency, Farmer Governor Umar Mohammed Bago, has once again demonstrated his unwavering commitment to education and youth empowerment by approving a remarkable ₦1,508,740,000 for the 2025 scholarship (bursary) scheme for students in Niger State tertiary institutions.

The National Association of Niger State Students (NANISS) has commended the Governor for this exceptional act, highlighting that this is the second significant approval under his administration and one of the largest in the state’s history. This massive intervention comes at a time when students across the country are facing economic hardship, making the Governor's support both timely and impactful.
Beyond the financial allocation, NANISS also acknowledged the commendable efforts of Rt. Hon. Abdulmalik Sarkin Daji and the Niger State House of Assembly for directing Local Government Councils to dedicate 5% of their monthly allocations to the Local Government Education Authority (LGEA). President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Etsu Nupe and Chairman of Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, on his 73rd birthday and 22nd year on the throne.

In a congratulatory message signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President,
Information & Strategy, President Tinubu commends the first-class traditional ruler for his patriotic service to the country and leadership within the country's traditional institutions.
It further states that Alhaji Abubakar served in the military, holding important operational positions before retiring as Brigadier-General and ascending the throne as the 13th Etsu Nupe in 2003.

President Tinubu remarks: "Etsu Nupe has contributed immensely to nation-building. He has used his revered position to promote unity, harmony, religious tolerance, peace and reconciliation in the country.

His humility, courage and leadership experience have been brought to bear on his responsibilities as Chairman, Abuja Mosque and Chairman Coordinating Committee of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria."
