OFFICIAL FLAG-OFF OF THE 2026 JUNE/JULY MATERNAL, NEWBORN, AND CHILD HEALTH WEEK (MNCHW) IN TAFA LOCAL GOVERNMENT.
The Honorable Hajiya Aishetu Adamu (Aunty Kaka), Vice Chairman of Gurara Local Government, today graced the official flag-off ceremony of the 2026 June/July Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health Week (MNCHW) in Tafa Local Government Area. This significant event was organized by the Niger State Primary Health Care Development Agency in close collaboration with its esteemed partner agencies.
The MNCHW initiative is a critical, high-impact intervention aimed at reducing maternal and child mortality while improving overall health outcomes across communities. Speaking at the event, The Wife of Niger State Governor Her Excellency Hajiya Fatima Mohammad Bago commended the state government and health partners for their unwavering commitment to ensuring that pregnant women, nursing mothers, and children under five receive essential life-saving services. These include vitamin A supplementation, deworming, immunizations, nutrition counseling, and health education on hygiene and disease prevention.
She urged all mothers and caregivers present to take full advantage of the week long exercise, emphasizing that consistent participation in health campaigns strengthens community resilience and safeguards the future of children. The presence of partner agencies underscores a unified front in tackling preventable diseases and building a healthier generation.
The flag-off in Tafa Local Government marks a pivotal step toward achieving universal health coverage and sustainable development goals in Niger State.
