SEMA Distributes Relief Food to Over 300 Displaced Persons in Gwadangaji
GWADANGAJI, KEBBI — The Kebbi State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has distributed essential food items to more than 300 displaced persons in Gwadangaji Community as part of the state government's continued efforts to cushion the effects of displacement and support vulnerable residents.
The relief exercise was led by the Chairman of SEMA, Alhaji Kabiru Bako, alongside officials of the agency and other stakeholders.
Speaking during the distribution, Alhaji Kabiru Bako said the intervention was in line with SEMA's commitment to providing timely humanitarian assistance to people affected by displacement and other emergencies across the state.
He explained that the relief package comprised rice, maize, millet and guinea corn, which were formally handed over to the District Head of Gwadangaji, Umar Umar Gwadangaji, for onward distribution to the identified beneficiaries.
The District Head expressed appreciation to SEMA for the intervention, commending Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, for his continued support for humanitarian initiatives aimed at assisting vulnerable communities.
Also speaking, the Executive Director of SEMA, TPL Abubakar Abdullahi, urged the beneficiaries to use the food items judiciously and ensure that the relief materials serve their intended purpose.
He encouraged the displaced persons to remain patient and hopeful, assuring them that the government remains concerned about their welfare and is committed to supporting affected communities.
The Councillor representing the area also commended SEMA for its prompt response, describing the intervention as a significant demonstration of concern for the plight of the displaced persons.
He appealed for sustained humanitarian assistance to help address the challenges confronting the affected population.
One of the beneficiaries, Malam Bello, expressed gratitude to the Kebbi State Government and SEMA for the gesture, saying the food assistance would help ease the difficulties faced by displaced families, particularly in meeting their daily nutritional needs.
He prayed for God's blessings, protection and continued guidance for the state government, SEMA and all those contributing to humanitarian assistance in the state.
The intervention highlights the importance of coordinated government response and community participation in addressing humanitarian challenges and restoring hope among displaced populations.
SEMA reiterated its commitment to providing timely relief, humanitarian assistance and other interventions to vulnerable and affected communities across Kebbi State.
