Kebbi Varsity Lauds Gov Idris, waives late Registration Charges

Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero, has commended Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, for his unwavering support in advancing academic excellence.

Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Abubakar Maikasuwa, made the commendation during a press briefing at the university on Tuesday.

He highlighted the governor’s approval of a new salary structure for university staff and his sponsorship of tuition and registration fees for students as key contributions.

In a significant move to ease financial burden on parents, the university has withdrawn late registration charges and extended the 2024/2025 registration deadline beyond the initial date of March 29, 2025.

"Considering the current financial challenges faced by parents, the university management has resolved to waive late registration charges and refund affected students. The final registration deadline will be communicated in due course," Professor Maikasuwa stated.

He further announced the commencement of the disbursement of ₦793 million from the National Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) received from the Federal Government, with the first batch of screened beneficiaries receiving their money starting Tuesday.

Additionally, he disclosed that the university generated ₦24 million from accommodation fees, further strengthening its financial position.

"The university appreciates both the state and federal governments for their commitment to students' welfare," the acting VC remarked.
