Community Leader Lauds Gov Idris on Gayi-Diggi-Maidahini Road Approval
A prominent community leader from Kalgo Local Government Area of Kebbi State, Alhaji Abubakar Bagudu, the Dallatun Kalgo, has commended Governor Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, for approving the construction of the Gayi-Diggi-Maidahini road.
Bagudu, a former Vice Chairman of Kalgo Local Government, said the road project was long overdue and had been a major demand of residents in the affected communities.
He explained that the road connects more than 30 villages and seven electoral wards across Kalgo and Bunza Local Government Areas, stressing that its construction would ease the movement of farm produce, goods and people to major markets, particularly the popular Diggi Sunday Market, which attracts thousands of traders.
According to him, the corridor is a major food-producing hub, with farmers engaged in large-scale cultivation of rice, groundnut, cassava, beans, sorghum, millet, potatoes, pepper and watermelon.
He said the completion of the road would stimulate economic activities, reduce post-harvest losses and transportation costs, and improve the livelihoods of farmers, traders and other residents within and outside Kebbi State.
Bagudu further expressed appreciation to Governor Idris for prioritising infrastructure development and responding to the longstanding needs of communities in the area.
He described the approval as a significant step towards unlocking the agricultural and economic potential of the corridor.
