This superhighway is more than asphalt and concrete. It represents a direct link between the North-West and the South-West coast, facilitating easier movement of goods, reducing transportation costs for farmers and traders, and boosting cross-border trade with Niger, Benin, and broader West Africa.

For Northern communities, it opens new corridors for agricultural produce to reach southern markets and ports more efficiently, potentially creating jobs in construction, maintenance, logistics, and ancillary services along the route.

KEBBI TO MARK 2026 CHILDREN’S DAY WITH CALLS FOR EDUCATION, PROTECTION

BIRNIN KEBBI — Kebbi State joined the rest of Nigeria today, May 27, 2026, to celebrate Children’s Day with parades, school activities, and renewed calls for better education, healthcare, and protection for children across the state.

The theme for this year’s celebration at the state level focused on “Children’s Rights in the Digital Age.”

31st, the Government of Kebbi will be gathering to celebrate Kebbi’s children and their potential. The cheers, dances, and matching uniforms will capture that. The challenge now is matching the celebration with sustained investment so that “future of Kebbi” isn’t just a slogan on a banner.

Happy Children’s Day to every boy and girl in Kebbi. May the promise made today reflect in your classrooms tomorrow.

Will you be at the Children’s Day event in Kebbi today?

KEBBI PILGRIMS PRAISE GOV. IDRIS OVER HAJJ WELFARE, BUT QUESTIONS REMAIN ON SUSTAINABILITY

MAKKAH: Kebbi State pilgrims and their local government coordinators have publicly commended Governor Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, for improvements in welfare and services during the 2026 Hajj exercise.

The praise came during Alhaji Bakon Makkah, a program aired from the holy land, where LG pilgrim leaders spoke with journalists. Those who spoke include Alhaji Jibril Hassan Dugu of Shanga, Ahmed Umar Makawa of Ngaski, Abubakar Usman Yola of Augie, and Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Board member Alhaji Umaru Ɗan BK.

“Between us and you there is complete love and trust,” the leaders said, adding that Gov. Idris had fulfilled promises to improve conditions and comfort for Kebbi pilgrims. Alhaji Umar Dan BK specifically highlighted the state government’s “care and compassion” toward pilgrims this year.

Gov. Idris’ administration deserves credit if Kebbi pilgrims are genuinely better cared for in Makkah this year. LG coordinators are credible witnesses, and fulfillment of promises should be acknowledged.

But praise is not a substitute for accountability. For the administration to turn this into a lasting reputation, it needs to publish clear metrics: number of pilgrims, complaints received and resolved, accommodation standards met, and cost breakdowns.

That’s how “love and trust” moves from slogan to record.

Why Hon. Kabir Tukura Is Betting Big on 2027, And Why It Matters

If you live in Zuru, Kebbi, you’ve seen the media designs. If you don’t, you should know what they mean.

You hear words like “LIKITAN KWARAI (MHR) GO AGAIN 2027” 💥

That’s the message spreading across Zuru Emirate and beyond. The man behind it: Hon. Kabir Tukura, member of the House of Representatives for Zuru, and the question is simple, why now, and what does it tell us about politics in Nigeria heading into 2027?

The phrase “Likitan Kwarai” means “The True Doctor” in Hausa. It’s not a medical title. In local politics it’s a nickname, a brand. It tells voters: this is the man who diagnoses your problems and actually treats them. Whether that’s fair or not depends on who you ask in Zuru, Fakai, Sakaba, and Wasagu/Danko.

The message is personal, not policy

Notice what’s missing: no manifesto, no 10-point agenda, no infrastructure chart. It’s trust. It’s relationship. In a system where Nigerians have watched party promises come and go, that’s the pitch. “We know each other. You trust me. Let’s do this again.”

So what’s really happening here?
2027 is still over a year away. But the designs are already up. Why? Because incumbency in Nigeria doesn’t start in election year. It starts the day after the last election ends. If you’re an MHR, your real job is reminding your district that you still exist between Abuja trips.

Hon. Tukura is betting that “love and trust” is enough. He’s betting that voters in Zuru Emirate care less about party labels and more about access, who answers the phone, who shows up for funerals, who gets the borehole drilled.

That’s how Nigerian politics actually works at the grassroots.

The 2027 question

Will it work? That depends on two things: what he’s delivered since 2023, and who decides to challenge him. If the voters feel that “complete love and trust” was earned, then the posters will turn into votes. If they feel it was just a slogan, then 2027 will be a fight.

So watch Zuru. Watch Kebbi South.

In a country tired of broken promises, that might be the most powerful campaign line of all. Or not.

BIRNIN KEBBI — Kebbi State has undergone a “massive infrastructural transformation” under Governor Nasir Idris, according to the State Commissioner for Works, Engr. Abdullahi Umar Faruk.

Speaking Thursday at the Inter-Ministerial Press Briefing in Birnin Kebbi, Faruk said projects executed between June 2023 and April 2026 provide “visible evidence of purposeful and inclusive governance” across the state. The briefing was organized by the Ministry of Information at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Ultra-Modern Secretariat Complex, Gwadangaji.

Completed projects include the dualisation of the Birnin Kebbi–Ambursa Road, rehabilitation of 30 km of township roads in Birnin Kebbi, rehabilitation of Yauri township roads, and road networks within the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Ultra-Modern Secretariat Complex. The administration also completed the dualisation of the Argungu Old Bye-Pass Road and carried out emergency flood interventions, culverts, retaining walls, and road expansion works in various parts of the state.

Ongoing works listed by the commissioner include the reconstruction of the 87 km Koko–Mahuta–Dabai Road, dualisation of Abdulsalami Road in Jega, rehabilitation of Ahmadu Bello Way in Gwandu, and construction of access roads and drainage at the Badariya MOPOL Barracks. The Kamba–Kwakkwaba–Sarfu–Banizumbu Road project is also underway.

Through the Department of Architecture and Building, the government completed the long-abandoned Ultra-Modern Secretariat Complex, renovated Government House facilities, upgraded the Deputy Governor’s residence, and rehabilitated hospitals and primary healthcare centres statewide. The ministry also supervised constituency projects covering schools, Islamiyya schools, mosques, village head palaces, court complexes, solar installations, drainage, cemetery fencing, and educational facilities.

Faruk said the rehabilitation of Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport and construction of a modern fuel dump restored full operations at the airport. The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria selected it as a center for the inaugural 2024 Hajj airlift operations.

Kebbi governor outlines security, infrastructure, agriculture, and social investments in Sallah message

BIRNIN KEBBI — Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, has felicitated with the Muslim Ummah in Kebbi State and beyond on the occasion of the 1447 AH Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

In a goodwill message issued on Tuesday, the governor urged Muslims to use the festival to promote peace, tolerance, and understanding among themselves and with non-Muslims.

“I felicitate with the Muslim Ummah in Kebbi State and beyond on this blessed occasion of Eid-el-Kabir, a season of sacrifice, faith, and obedience to Allah,” Gov. Idris said.

“May the virtues of Prophet Ibrahim inspire us to uphold peace, tolerance, and unity across our communities as we celebrate this sacred festival with gratitude and humility.”

The governor said his administration remains committed to sustaining peace in Kebbi State by “strengthening community dialogue, supporting traditional institutions, and promoting mutual respect among all ethnic and religious groups.”

He noted that security remains a top priority, adding: “We will continue collaborating with security agencies and vigilante groups to protect lives, secure farmlands, and restore lasting tranquility statewide.”

Gov. Idris also highlighted ongoing government efforts in infrastructure, agriculture, education, healthcare, and youth empowerment. He said the administration is accelerating road, bridge, rural electrification, and water projects to connect communities and boost local economic growth.

On agriculture, he said farmers across the state are receiving “unprecedented support through the distribution of free assorted fertilisers, improved inputs, power tillers machines, extension services, irrigation schemes, and access to markets.”

“As you celebrate Sallah with family, friends, and neighbours, I urge you to remain law-abiding, show compassion to the less privileged, and pray for Kebbi and Nigeria’s prosperity,” he added.

The statement was signed by Ahmed Idris, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Kebbi State.
