KAGOTE President Lesi Maol Condemns Bori Shooting, Places ₦2 Million Bounty on Attackers
The President of KAGOTE, Chief Lesi Maol, has strongly condemned the killing of Hon. Letam Kinee, popularly known as Langa, who was reportedly shot dead by yet-to-be-identified gunmen in Bori, the traditional headquarters of Ogoni.
Chief Maol described the attack as a barbaric, cruel and senseless act that has no place in a peaceful and progressive society. He said KAGOTE would not tolerate any form of violence, criminality or bloodshed in any part of Ogoniland, stressing that those responsible for the heinous crime must be identified, arrested and brought to justice.
He called on the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies to intensify investigations and ensure that the perpetrators of the attack are swiftly apprehended and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
To support efforts aimed at bringing the attackers to justice, Chief Maol announced a ₦2 million reward for any person who provides credible information that leads to the identification and arrest of those responsible for the killing.
He urged anyone with useful information to promptly report to the nearest police station or any recognized security agency, assuring that all information would be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
Chief Maol appealed to the people of Ogoni to remain calm, law-abiding and refrain from taking the law into their own hands. He emphasized that retaliation or acts of vengeance would only worsen the situation and undermine the peace and unity that the people have worked hard to build.
While expressing confidence in the capacity of the security agencies to unravel those behind the attack, the KAGOTE President urged residents to cooperate fully with investigators by volunteering any relevant information that could assist in the ongoing investigation.
He extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Hon. Letam Kinee, his friends, associates and the entire Ogoni people, praying that God grants them the strength to bear the painful loss.
Chief Maol reaffirmed KAGOTE’s stiff commitment to the protection of lives, the promotion of peace, and the pursuit of justice, declaring that Ogoniland must never become a haven for violence and criminality.
Signed
Chief Lesi Maol
President, KAGOTE
