TOPIC: THE MYSTERY OF GIVING

TEXT: Luke 6:38

The Attitude of Giving

1. Giving Sparingly Does Not Guarantee Bountiful Blessings

Luke 6:38 teaches us that the measure we use in giving will be measured back to us. Therefore, we should cultivate a spirit of generosity and give willingly, knowing that giving is an expression of our faith and love for God.

2. Abraham Demonstrated the Attitude of Giving

Abraham demonstrated faith and obedience to God, and God blessed him abundantly (Genesis 22:16–18). His life teaches us the importance of trusting God and obeying His instructions. Isaiah 1:19 also reminds us that if we are willing and obedient, we shall eat the good of the land.

3. Obedience in Giving: God Loves a Cheerful Giver

Giving is not only about what we give but also about the attitude of our hearts. God loves a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 9:7). We must give with a willing heart, without grumbling or reluctance, and with a genuine desire to honour God.

4. The Mindset Involved in Giving

Ecclesiastes 11:1–2 encourages us to give generously and share with others, even when we cannot predict what the future holds. We must develop a mindset of generosity, faith, and trust in God, knowing that giving is an act of obedience and an opportunity to bless others.
