Text: 1st John 2:28-29, 1 Peter 2:24

•MESSAGE HIGHLIGHT(S)
√ Meaning of expectations;
An act of expecting something, and looking for something that will be good or beneficial to you.
√ Having expectations will make you move positively towards what you want to achieve.
√ When we talk about Abiding in him, John reminded the brethren about what is expected from them.

Reasons for abiding in Christ
Abiding in him is essential
1. If we can’t abide in him we won’t be able to bear fruits( John 14,15)
2. It pictures an intimate relationship with Christ as he is our expectation.

√ In order to meet up to the expectations of Christ it is required for us to live a righteous life.
√ Our master is coming and abstaining from sin is the best choice we have, so as to live up to the expectations of Christ
√ Christ has adopted us into his family, we are now a chosen generation and we should live in righteousness
√ Righteous living : This simply means living a good life in Christ (Ephesians 5:8-10)
√ God’s expectation in us is to do what is in him.
√ Let us listen to the word of God and abide in him
√ When we live our life and accept Christ into our lives, we become a new creature in Christ.

√ That we may have confidence when he comes, that is the greatest expectation for Christians.
√ Let us take back our confidence and go back to our duty post.
√ Let your heart be burning for the work of the Lord

• Christ expectation in us is for us to win more souls to Christ( John 2:24)
• Let us not cast away our confidence because it comes with a reward.

Therefore the expectation for us Christians is for us to;
1. Abide in him
2. Live righteously in him and,
3. Be confident in his coming

•MESSAGE HIGHLIGHT(S)
√Living for Christ also means existing for Christ.
√ Living is fulfilling the purpose of existence. You can exist but you do not live.
√ We are epistles where people see and read because we are Christlike.
√ Living for Christ means you’re death from sin. The moment you live for Christ, your identity changes to a new identity. When you loose your identity, you loose direction too. The moment you discover your identity, you become connected because you know the direction.

• Being connected in Christ gives you your heart desire and makes you to stand firm. The moment you’re connected, you become fearless.
• Being connected gives you the guidance and security that comes from the Holy Spirit.
• ⁠Fear is taken away the moment you are connected and you discover your purpose.
• One of the most dangerous thing in life is when you live a life and you don’t have a purpose.
• ⁠You loose your goals the moment you’re ignorant of your purpose of living.

CONCLUSION:
Submit yourself to the will of God, your purpose is deeply rooted in God.
Living for Christ requires us rejoicing in times of chaos.
