Abi lies in the central part of Cross River State. It shares boundaries with Yakurr LGA to the north, Obubra LGA to the east, Biase LGA to the west, and also stretches out to touch Ebonyi and Abia States by the south. The people of Abi come mainly from two proud groups; the Bahumono and the Agbo. Together, they form a rich cultural blend. The Bahumono are famous for their colorful masquerades, dances, and river festivals, while the Agbo add their unique dialect and traditions into the mix.
Life in Abi revolves around the land and the river. Farmers grow yam, cassava, rice, and palm produce, while fishing is a tradition passed down through generations. On market days in Itigidi, Ediba, and Adadama, the air is filled with laughter and bargaining.

But Abi isnโt only about tradition, it is also a place of growth. The College of Nursing, Midwifery and Public health Sciences, Itigidi, the Eja Memorial General Hospital and Various Comprehensive and Primary Health Clinics are beacons of education and healthcare, serving the community and beyond.
