Dean Comends ABAS, Comfirms participation in the ABAS Mega Campus Conference 2025

_June 24, 2025 | Dean's Office, UNICROSS, Calabar_

The Dean Students Affairs of the University of Cross Rivers State, Comends Association of Brotherhood Academic Scholars (ABAS) for a timely Conference on Attitudinal Transformation during a Special Session with Member of the Association on Tuesday, 24th June 2025 at His Office.

Speaking during the Visit , Engr. Dr. Oku Ekenyong expressed heartfelt appreciation for the visit and the citing of this all important Conference in Unicross . “It’s a privilege to have you here,” he said. He affirmed the conference's relevance in shaping student values, contrasting the moral climate in the UK where he spent over nine years with that of Nigeria, where religious proliferation has not translated to ethical behavior. He pledged the full support of the university management towards the success of the program.

The Representative of the ABAS International President, Archbishop Nnanna Mong briefed the Dean on the mission of ABAS and the forthcoming campus conference themed "Attitudinal Transformation For Moral and Academic Excellence". He emphasized the group’s divine mandate to foster moral rebirth in academic communities increasingly plagued by social vices and equally thanked the management of the School for the Support in Hosting the event.

PCS Chika Nwaka, who gave the Holy Fathers Message, in a passionate remark, reflected on a time when campuses were free of cultism and immorality. He lauded the Dean as one of the symbolic "7,000 prophets" God preserved in trying times, referencing the biblical encounter between Elijah and God. He concluded with blessings upon the institution.

We believe with the formal Visit to the Dean Students Affairs of the Institution, all is now set for the 3rd Edition of ABAS Mega Campus Conference, holding at MASS Communication Department Conference hall on Friday, 27th June 2025.

Notable attendees included the IOC Chairman, Archbishop Nnana Mong, PCS Chika Nwaka, HE Jennifer Amah, CA Mercy Edet, CA Eugene Mbang, ABAS UNICAL President Bro. John Essien, President ABAS Benue State Bro. Samuel Asuquo, and Representative RIVABAS Bro. Gogo Mgbowa.

The event concluded with the presentation of evangelical materials, a closing prayer, and a group photograph to mark the significant engagement.

He also requested that fliers be circulated promptly to aid widespread awareness and participation.

In attendance from the SUG were the President, Vice President, Secretary General, Senate President of the 16th Parliament, and the NACRISS President (UNICROSS Chapter).
