..Akwa Ibom Council Pledges Full Support for 7th Annual Public Lecture
The Akwa Ibom State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has pledged its collaboration and full support for the 7th Edition of the Leader Olumba Olumba Obu Annual Public Lecture, scheduled to hold on December 20, 2025, at Ibom Hall, Uyo.
During a courtesy visit by the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star (BCS) today, the NUJ Chairman, Comrade Nsibiet John, described His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu as “the beacon of moral leadership”, noting that the lecture comes at a critical time for national reflection on values, governance, and morality.
John applauded the choice of Akwa Ibom as the host state and commended BCS for its consistent relationship with the media and for sustaining conversations centred on ethical leadership, peace, and nation-building.
He equally praised the character and quality of speakers lined up for the 2025 lecture, urging organisers to ensure room for interactive engagement during the event.
He further pledged the participation of the NUJ State Working Committee and assured the delegation of maximum publicity and presence.
Earlier in his briefing, BCS Spokesman PCS Dr. Amah Williams congratulated the NUJ Chairman on his emergence as council leader and explained that the upcoming public lecture, themed “Strengthening National Growth Through Moral Leadership”, is aimed at projecting the divine teachings of Leader Olumba Olumba Obu as a template for ethical reformation in governance and society.
He emphasised that Nigeria possesses great potential, but the deficit in moral leadership remains a major setback, a gap the teachings and life of Leader Olumba Olumba Obu continues to address through love, justice, and exemplary conduct.
Dr. Williams also highlighted that past editions have featured globally renowned speakers, including Mr. Donald Duke and Prof. P. L. O. Lumumba of Kenya.
Speakers expected for the 2025 edition include Prof. Otoabasi Akpan, Vice Chancellor of Akwa Ibom State University, and Prof. Chris Ekong, among others.
In his remarks, the State Administrator of BCS, HG Archbishop Martins Inyang Ansa, expressed gratitude to the NUJ for the warm reception and willingness to partner with the Fellowship, assuring the Union of divine blessings.
