Sermon: Elder S. A. Udo
Interpreter: Elder U. U. Eyo
Theme: Performance of Mercy Promised for Service
Texts: Exodus: 6:6, Luke 1:70-75
The theme captures God's faithfulness in delivering His people and fulfilling His promises as seen in the texts above. In Exodus 6:6, God promised to deliver the Israelites from slavery in Egypt, showcasing His mercy and power Through Moses. The promise of redemption underscores God's commitment to His people, emphasizing that their service and covenant relationship with Him will lead to their liberation while in Luke 1:70-75 reflects on God's promise of mercy fulfilled through Jesus Christ. It emphasizes salvation from enemies and the ability to serve God without fear, in holiness and righteousness. The prophecy highlights the mercy promised to the fathers and the covenant God made with Abraham, now realized in the ministry of Jesus.
*The hallmarks of Gods relationship with His people include the following;
1. Divine Initiative: In Exodus, God initiates the deliverance of Israel, and in Luke, the coming of Jesus is the ultimate expression of God's mercy. Both passages underscore that mercy and salvation come from God's initiative, not human merit.
2. Covenant Faithfulness: The promise to the Israelites and the fulfillment in Jesus remind us of God's faithfulness to His covenants. His mercy is not random but is rooted in His promises to His people.
3. Service Without Fear: Luke emphasizes serving God without fear, which is possible due to the mercy and salvation provided. This service is characterized by holiness and righteousness, enabled by God's grace.
Conclusion
"Performance of Mercy Promised for Service" beautifully encapsulates the essence of God's relationship with His people. Through His faithfulness to His promises, God delivers His people and enables them to serve Him in righteousness and holiness. SHALOM
