🇳🇬 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup: Flamingos Bow Out After 4–0 Loss to Italy

Nigeria’s Flamingos have crashed out of the ongoing FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco after suffering a 4–0 defeat to Italy in the Round of 16.

The 2022 bronze medallists started brightly, with Captain Shakirat Moshood forcing a fine save from Italian goalkeeper Matilde Robbioni midway through the first half.

However, Anna Copelli broke the deadlock for Italy just before halftime. Nigeria thought they had equalized through Nguemo Terlumun, but the goal was overturned after a Video Support Review ruled a foul on the goalkeeper.

Italy then ran riot in the second half with goals from Caterina Venturelli, Giulia Robino, and Rachelle Giudici, sealing their fourth straight win of the tournament.

The defeat ends Nigeria’s campaign, but attention now turns to preparations for the qualifying series of next year’s FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup, which is now an annual competition.

Troops Neutralize Terrorists, Recover Weapons in Borno

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have neutralized at least 10 terrorists and recovered a cache of weapons, ammunition, and equipment during a coordinated night operation along the Gamboru–Dikwa–Marte axis of Borno State.

The latest success follows an earlier encounter around Katarko, where over 50 terrorists were eliminated by the troops.

Reports indicate that soldiers from Sector 1, 24 Task Force Brigade, engaged the insurgents around 11:50 p.m. on October 25, after detecting their movement from the Flatari axis towards Gamboru Ngala.
The terrorists reportedly diverted toward Dikwa after suffering casualties but were again ambushed and subdued on the Dikwa–Marte road.

After daylight clearance, the troops confirmed 10 terrorists killed, while several others escaped with gunshot wounds.

Items recovered from the scene include five AK-47 rifles, one PKT machine gun, three locally-made guns, two pistols, loaded magazines, boxes of ammunition, two motorcycles, two bicycles, a radio, and several personal belongings.

Military authorities have commended the troops for their gallantry and vigilance, describing the operation as a further demonstration of the army’s commitment to ending insurgency in the North East and restoring peace and stability to the region.

✝️ Harvest of Hope: Christians Urged to Give Abundantly

Christians have been admonished to contribute adequately, abundantly, and sacrificially towards the growth and development of the Church.

The call was made by the Assistant Parish Priest of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Ediba-Qua Town, Calabar, Very Rev. Fr. Raphael Ita, during the 2025 Parish Harvest and Bazaar Thanksgiving Mass.

Fr. Ita urged the faithful to approach God in prayer and thanksgiving, acknowledging His countless blessings in their lives. He reminded worshippers that God is pleased with a humble and committed life that abides by His commandments.

Declaring the event open, the Chairman of the occasion and former lawmaker, Dr. Pius Ekeng, described the 2025 Harvest of Hope, themed “Our Faith Shall Not Fail Us”, as a moment of reunion and renewal of faith for members of the congregation.

He encouraged Christians to find joy in giving to God and to support the many ongoing projects in the Church.

Other Catholic faithful expressed gratitude to God, noting that even the gift of life and good health is a testament to His love and mercy.
